The best AIs are adaptable heuristics, but even they can be lead around a lot. Randomized choice AIs suck so bad it hurts. Even /I/ know that. |

Unfortunately, it's a slippery slope. You gotta get the difficulty balance right or people just won't find games fun. |

Nintendo won. Even as a third party, Sega has fallen. THe race continued in a way, Mario taking his chosen path to light-hearted comedy-driven games of all sorts, Sonic to HIS chosen path of plot-driven dramatic games of a verry narrow variety. ANd Sonic has failed. He has become a prostitute many ways, selling his games out to as many platforms as possible, and his character models out to cloners, and his game scripts out to whoever wrote the romance for Star Wars Episode III. The War In Europe was won long ago, and now the War in the Pacific has ended. My GOD that was wordy. |

Like I said, Sonic kept Sega's broken down car in the race, but he just sprung an oil leak. |

Kinda reminds me of the old days when they'd just make Player 2 a seperate color and expect every to accept the guy and a completley new and original character. |

Well, if you're even letting 2 people play at once, they wouldn't be picky. Sega even raised the bar a little There was another reason to play Knuckles or Tails; they had different styles and moves. |
Hey, the comic seems to be updating kind of regularly. Maybe we should vote to spread the word.

Exactly. But, Sonic was cooler, so they cloned him. ANd made him playable to keep with tradition, deafeating the purpose. And now theres THREE IDENTICAL CHARACTERS. EVEN WITH FACTORIN IN MULTIPLAYER, ITS ON THE 360 and PS3, WHICH HAVE ONLY 2 CONTROLERS. |

I've said it before, and I will gladly say it again. They should have left Shadow dead. I say this with no malice. I actually thought Shadow was pretty good, for the role they wanted him to play. He had a 'darkness and redemption' story that was nice, particularly the ending sequence. But the simple fact is, after the end of SA2, after the destruction of the space colony and the creature inside it, when Shadow went out in a blaze of glory, that was good. That was beautiful. But most importantly, that was it. That was the end to Shadow's tale; there was no place left to go with it. Shadow's done. Period. Shadow was done after SA2. Fan popularity brought Shadow back, and now he's just plain awkward. Why? Because there's nothing left to do with him. Everything was done in SA2. Shadow the Hedgehog only cements this; the only way they could find to do more with Shadow was to find some contrived, downright stupid way of trying to pack more onto an increasingly less and less stable concept. Letting a much loved character die in a blaze of glory is always better than bringing him back just to fester and rot. |

That's not even counting the several Robot Sonics that have served as boss characters or that Knuckles was the original "new" Sonic with even more attitude. |

Exactly. Mario moves on and grows, whereas sonic keeps trying to relive the glory days and descending farther each time. |

The first I heard of the new Sonic game was that they were going "back to the beginning". Starting over from scratch. Now it seems they've changed their minds. A pity. Starting over from scratch was probably their only hope. |

I think the big difference between Mario and Sonic is that mario's growth has been more natural. Things just sort of evolved and sported. Sonic's growth has always felt more forced. More "what extra bit of 'tude can we fit in this time?" and "what just sounds cool?" |

I do like the idea of aging Sonic up a bit. Removing some of his cocky teenager spunk, letting him finally become more mature. It's about time. |

You should not however, support the introduction of a new character in EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. Look back over the last few years and tell me a console Sonic game WITHOUT a brand, spankin' new character. |

Knuckles is so much cooler. And screw Shadow dying, just kill Sonic, he deserves it and then Zero can finally be destroyed. Hopefully if the world is good then, Konami will make the characters in MGS not suck and have Ocelot and Solidus be the only good characters. |
