So pit isn't forced to split his weapon? I guess the split mechanism is one of his specials then.

My best guess on Sony is that they realize they're screwed at launch. No one wants to pay that much for their console, so they're throwing it out early. That way we can wait for the price to drop while they focus on putting out the better games.

Okay, yeah, I admit it. Big N did win this round. I am shocked.

The round has yet to start terra, but the way it looks yea the WII has the other too on the ropes. I wonder if the higher ups at Microsoft and Sony are related to my manager....all three of them gave up before the fight even began.

Its a sad sad day for gaming

I don't see where you get that idea of Microsoft. Especially when you consider the Xbox 360 is the only one even on the market at the moment. Microsoft is still a serious contender.

Sony's going to need a lot of work to come up to the other two, but Microsoft, already armed with Oblivion, looks to be doing just fine.

A couple pages back someone posted links to a couple of articles about Microsoft and Sony saying that people should buy a WII, and their own system, they both praised how great the WII will be.

Thats not a good sign for either Sony or Microsoft.

You misunderstand the purpose of those announcements. The way Microsoft and Sony see it is that the Wii and it's games are so fundamentelly different that Nintendo, for this round, in this arena, are not direct competition... And thus, can be used gain an advantage. Let me try to simplify it with a produce metaphor.

The PS3 and XBox are apples. The Wii's an orange. The people behind these corparations realize that the average produce counnisour only has enough money for two pieces of fruit. Since the apples are direct competition, they would benefit from their opposing product never being purchased at all, and so, reccomend that consumers spend their remaining cash on an orange, thus potentially removing a sale for their foe indirectly.

Did that make any sense?

Yes, it did.

Well, that's good to know.

I just thought of something I'm rather ashamed I didn't think of earlier:

Who wants to bet that Sony will be offering (reduced price?) PS3 bundles with purchase of their HDTVs?

Videogame systems come in tasty fruit flavors now. Got it.

Which is why Nintendo has, for their next handheld, released a taste sensitive screen. :P

I hate that metiphor because its more or less wrong, it wouldn't be if people had an unlimited amount of cash flow.

if one apple costs 75 cents each

another costs 65 cents each

and an orange costs 35 cents each

if the person has only a dollar then they can't buy more than one of these at a time. The people who like apple A will buy it regardless, same with apple B and the orange, but someone who likes all three will most likely go for the oranges because you can get more oranges for your dollar than either kind of apple.

All three peices of fruit are competeing for the same limited amount of fundage.

But the people who they are marketing and the wants they are trying to fulfill are different.

Nintendo is offering something different from Sony and Microsoft, that means if people buy a Revolution, the appeal of the XBOX 360 isn't lost, unlike if someone buys a 360 the appeal of the PS3 lessens.

The fact is if you could buy a PS3 you can buy a Rev and a 360.

Also I think everyone is writing Sony out of this WAY too quickly, alot can change in the coming months and while I hate Sony as a company (though like the PS2) and love Nintendo, I think everyone here is letting their personal bias get in their eyes a little too quick.

And share your great wisdom, why?

It's said if the PS3 fails, Sony fails, they're going to be pulling all the tricks they got.

That rant actually had more to do with the metaphor than anything, its just a bad metaphor because apples and oranges draw off the same resourse to be bought.

And my primary system this gen was a PS2, because thats where my genre was, I will buy a Wii right of the bat most likely because I like where it might be going, but chances are my console for the 2006 generation will be whatever shows me the most games I want to buy.

Edit :I see sony failing because of cost, unless the games are cheap I don't see myself buying it

Weren't you one of the ones railing against me when I *dared* to say that the Sony and Microsoft beat Nintendo in the console war?

(Q)_< I can only afford an orange...never liked dam Macs anyway...wait

Uh well, I think we all get the point.

Put it this way...

360 and PS3 = main meals of dinner

Wii is cheaper appetizer(dont point out the 360 came first I know, really)

So...you get the appetizer and one of the possible main courses. Thats what Nintendo ment buy not compeating. They are going to SHARE customers in a sense. Win win for Nintendo ya-hoot!

Hey there's a different between believing a company didn't get his ass kicked everyone one generation and thinking people shouldn't act like a system not even out yet has already lost.
