I've gotten good with the Yu Gi Oh. but I only play the PC version of card games. I'm a recovering cardboard crack addict. its taken me a long time but I finally kicked the habit. (except on PC and that don't count) |

On an unrelated note: I went and built myself a dark world deck today. Something tells me this is gonna be a popular deck type. How does Dark World work? Simple, really. Most of the cards have effects that trigger when some they are discarded due to an effect. And you get an additional effect if the card that caused you to discard was your opponents. The two big hitters allow you to summon them when they are discarded. This deck allows swarmage to a scarily high degree. |

Ah, right...I should have specified. I was talking about yugioh, not magic. Sorry. |

You're not making your opponent discard. You're discarding these monsters, to trigger their effects. Usually summoning them to the field. Or in one case, drawing a card. This is a swarm deck, and a damned effective one. Especially when combined with cards which make you discard to activate. Like, say, Back to Square One, which returns one card to the top of the owners deck. Or Lightning Vortex, which destroys all face up monsters on the field. The list goes on. |

Nono. I said graveyard deck, not discard deck. Graveyard decks are ones where you summon creatures out of your graveyard and the like. |

Ah, right. Yeah, Yugioh has a lot of cards that let you summon from the graveyard. All restricted, or with a hefty cost. Like also allowing your opponent to summon a monster. |

Other things Yugioh does a whole bunch: Effect negation. A cards effect becomes null and void. The card itself is not destroyed, however. Remove from game: A special out of play area, reserved for special card effects. Not many cards can retrieve from here. Does Magic do that stuff? |

Magic has some effects that remove cards from the game. But nothing can be retrieved at ALL after it's removed from the game. Effect negation? Hm. There's one artifact that makes all other artifacts unusable. Their passive effects still exist, and the artifact isn't destroyed, but you can't tap/spend mana to use any artifact abilities anymore... that's an old card too and the only one like that I can think of... |

Other yugioh things. Union monsters: Monsters that are equipped to other monsters, and cause some effect or other. Also, it can then be turned back into a normal monster. You can only do this once a turn, though. Oh, and if the monster this is equipped to is destroyed, the equip monster is destroyed too. Spirit monsters: Monsters that cannot be played using a card effect, and return to the players hand at the end of the turn it was played. Usually have an amazing effect. |

Uh... ...I'm not sure why we're playing this game, as I could care less about Yugioh and am not even that interested in Magic anymore, but here goes from my limited memory (I haven't played in forever): There were a series of creatures (one of each color and an artifact creature) that you could attach to another creature to give some sort of benefit (flying, offense/defense buff, first strike). They were basically symbiots, and you could detach and reattach them at a small mana cost. edit: Same downside that if the host was destroyed, it was too. Unless you had the mana to unequip it really fast. I don't remember any specific examples, but I know that there is at least one monster in the game that returns to your hand at the end of the turn you summon it (and it's pretty powerful). I don't remember exactly what it was tho', and there might be more by now. |
