Not paticularly funny, but... I couldn't think of a better special ability. |
Hey, the comic seems to be updating kind of regularly. Maybe we should vote to spread the word.

But not too badly to see, or understand. ANd only three of eight are distorted. A fourth is slightly off. |

A big part of the humour of the Magic Cards are the pictures, though. If the picture is super pixelated or distorted, it's not going to be nearly as good as it could have been. |

There used to be an image here telling you to vote, but then Photobucket, the image site made to allow you to do third party hosting, no longer allows third party hosting without throwing a shitload of money at them... and I can barely afford to eat. So no you get some text of me bitching about it, yaaay! Also, go vote. Everyday I'm tumbl'n. "This bitch is makin' me all Paru..." ~Hang in There, Kogasa-san! | |

But not all are bad, right? My theory is that if I churn out enough, I might get it right with one or two. |

I'm not really the best person to ask; a fair number of those revolve around political humour (and I find pretty much all political humour to be fucking retarded), so I'm already going to have a negative outlook on those. Never watched Power Rangers, so the humour on that one is kinda lost on me (I can gather one of the actresses turned into a stripper, but not knowing who it is, or how she acted on the show, a good deal of subtext is lost), and the same goes with the Cloud one. The Hero-B-Gone one isn't half bad, though. |

Knowing little is what makes the power rangers thing funny. How many actors have you seen who brag about having gotten their start in power rangers? None. Because they all fail afterwards. So they logically must turn to being strippers. Recently, they hired a stripper to play one of the rangers in Japan, saving a lot of time. The cloud thing you don't get? You mean you never played FF7? And whats wrong the The King? |

The cabal thought that what they were doing was justice and moral and holy and mandated by their god. Same for Phyrexians. |

Yeah, overly political magic cards tend to lose amusement in the mental process of "goddamnit, they're going to argue about this for three pages now, aren't they...". |

Phyrexians were black because Phyrexia was black. Yawgmoth was originally white innate. The Cabal were using the pits as a means to do "justice" but were mostly making money off it and amassing political power. Besides the phrasing extremist muslims use are almost identical to The Church of Tal from Ice Age, and all three major religions started in the middle east region which is mostly arid which is white. Edit@Mordy : I am staying out of the politics, just arguing flavor. |

The Presidency thing, if you notice, is kinda agaisnt presidents in general, not our current one in particular. Clinton was just as bad as Bush in certian areas, its just that Bush isn't photogenic, and consequentially provides a greater range of card-picture-choices. The Al Quida thing isn't that bad I don't think, and the Alaska thing A. Uses a picture I got from our resident Alaskan, and B. Is against corporate greed more than any party. Again, neither party is in the right, both are just as wrong in that area, so I assumed it wouldn't be too much of a problem due to the "nobody right means nobody wrong means nobody offended" theory. Edit: I only chose black due to the whole self destructive thing, which was more a red or black feature last time I played magic, and they didn't strike me as very red. |

I would also suggest to changing the alaska thing a bit, instead of using a specific creature type I would just go with destroy all snow permanents. Beasts don't see very much play. |

I don't really pay attention to what any actors say, about where they started or otherwise. I do know there is more you can do besides just stripping after being on a crappy show, though... I've played very little of Final Fantasy 7 (didn't even make it off the first disc). I know he turns against everyone or something... hands over the Black Materia or something along those lines. But the rest of it doesn't really make sense to me (if opposing creature has one less toughness, deal 9999 damage), and the quote is pretty bland. As for The Burger King card, it's another one which has a squished picture, and... maybe it's because I don't see The King as some sort of ultimate evil as you're trying to play him off as in the card (black creature, needs 6 mana to summon, three 6's to destroy the world), but the humour level of the text isn't too high for me. If you found the original picture that image macro came from, and used it in it's place without squishing it (just chopping off the edges which stick over), then it wouldn't have been as bad. And if you did that with text content not playing to an internet fad (something like... I dunno, pay one colourless mana, tap target creature while it has it it's way, or something else), then it would probably be a fairly good card. Otherwise you might as well make a card with Vegita and say something like "Destory target creature with a power level over nine thousaaaand!" But that's just my opinion. Something else you need to remember with making cards is not everyone will always agree with you. If you think they're all funny, hey, that's great, you know? Just keep in mind not everyone will always think the same thing, though. |

The 9999 damge is an Omnislash reference, his limit break that does max damage. In other words, if the blocks a creature that almost beats him, he gets a limit break. And the King not black? Dude commits acts of breaking and entering for a LIVING, can outstare and outbreath Darth Vade... Seems balck enough. And Like I said, I jsut dug through and said, "this would make a good card". Edit: I know not everyone will agree. But one would be nice once in a while.[/emo] |
