Yes! That's a workable idea. Now, from there, let's figure out the rest of the game. So, the characters are using Insanity as an offensive stat, and willpower as a defensive? Just like always? |

I think that's the simplest, and best defined, idea so far. |

Okay, good. What do we call the cost stat? The one I referred to as spirit. |

Spirit or Energy works. I would be whatever drives you to post, so sheer stubbornness could work as well.

Mords post on the joy/rage thing got me thinking...... Now we have the Insanity = casting power thing defined from Drek, and Willpower = toughness/life is also defined.... Now if cards have inherant natures of Joy/rage, we can have a card game. how about you canm remove a character by changing it's nature. Like trying to Make immo happy, or Femme less cheerful. that way you would need cards that both brought joy, or incited rage in your deck. then again it;'s just a thory and so much happened while I was posting this i'm probly severly baroned. Yep Barowned, I like mords idea. |

The 'casting cost' stat could be joy/rage, too. ... Maybe... and this is a tad odd... Have Avatars be double-sided. Joy on one side, Rage on the other. Certain things would be able to reduce/increase the joy/rage rating, and you could even flip it at times to change out your avatar. This would come at a penalty to willpower, perhaps? Or by reducing joy/rage to zero. Thus, the new avatar would have a new rating of one, and have to work it back up. |

Nah, I think the Joy/rage factor would just effect the cards in our decks... think of it like colors in magic, only with just 2 of them |

Hm. Well, either way. How would it effect your cards? Avatars like lands, able to produce so much joy and so much rage a turn to play cards? |

This remonds me of that time I tried playing a Dual masters deck against a magic deck, and made my opponant kick my ass while laughing histeriocally because he made a 60/40 red dragon, that I turned into a red land. Actually the avs = land thing isn't a bad idea because who are the posts originating from? |

One suggestion for mechanics of this system: Each avatar starts with a joy rating and a rage rating. This is indicated by tokens (like those flat marbles) of differing colors. Effects that change joy/rage rating add or remove tokens from the pile. For example: Carmichael Micaalus has Joy: 3 and Rage: 3 (pretty balanced between the two). He gets three blue (joy) and three red (rage) tokens to start. Someone plays the card "Cheesecake": +1 joy. Car gets a red token added. Alternately, if it's the enemy playing the card, he could use the effect as -1 rage (since the opponent wouldn't want Car to gain power, after all). The Joy/Rage can be used in multiple ways. One would be simply removing tokens to pay the cost for certain cards, but then they'd have to regenerate somehow. Or it could represent the maxiumum you can spend in any set of turns (if you had 3 rage and 3 joy and spent two rage on your turn, that would leave you three joy and one rage to spend on your opponents turn). ALTERNATELY, there could be a cost associated. Like removing cards from your deck (to play a card with a cost of three rage, remove three cards from the top of your deck and place in your graveyard). More ideas! I don't know where they're coming from... |

I could seeh ow the joy/rage thing could effect card costs, but the problem is, not having seen a few forumites angry, I don't know what they would do with rage... or vice versa |

Going back to Overpower again, let's say you have a certain set of stats. For no particular reason, I'm going to refer to them as SPAM, INSANITY, GODMOD, and ... um... I can't think of a fourth one but it would have something to do with disturbing content. These various things will act as your various attack levels. Let's say Luppy has a level 5 SPAM stat. That means he can use any level 5 or below SPAM based attack (or defense) card. Alternatively, if he has them in his hand at the moment, he can use a character specific Luppy card that has some sort of wild effect, but for our intents and purposes, Luppy doesn't have one of those right now. Luppy attacks Knight with a level 5 SPAM card. Now, Knight has a level 3 SPAM, but he does have a level 7 GODMOD, so he uses a GODMOD based card to block the SPAM attack. Now it's Knights turn. Knight draws an artifact card. In this case, he draws the Infinity Gauntlet. The Gauntlet requires a GODMOD stat of five to use and acts as a level 8 GODMOD attack. Luppy doesn't have anything in his hand to block that with, so he takes 8 damage. and so on and so forth. |

Not really. It's used to attack as much as it is to defend. |

If we're going to have Joy and Rage in here, mind if I add more that I think apply? Specifically, bloodlust and innocence. ...or am I the only one whos innocence has been left intact upon arriving here? ...I'm not lying. It really has. Mostly because I don't click on stuff. |

Illumnati is a card game where there are a whole lot of different ways to win, depending on who you play as. I think there could be different ways to win/lose depending on who you play as, as well as the standard ways to win/lose. |

I dunno, something about having multiple victory conditions open for the players to achieve seems really...tempting to me. 'Course, before I even started this thread, the concept of each player having subtly different rules defined by their avatar was something I was toying with...But threw it out as it was too complicated a notion. This, on the other hand, wouldn't be, as it only really deals with one factor. |
