One of the presents I got for christmas was $70 dollars worth of gift certificates for Wal-mart. While I thought about splurging on games or some other trivial matter, I've really been wanting to get a new internal hard drive for my computer. The one in it is almost five years old, and I don't want to loose all my data should my computer crash, especially because alll my comic stuff is on it. So I'd like some opinions on drives listed on this page, specifically, anything under a hundred dollars. What do people think are the most reliable items here? Opinions? Suggestions? |

I'm not an expert in computers, but the Western Digital 120 GB Special Edition Cavier 7200 Internal Hard Drive (first one) seems the most economic choice. It offers near double the memmory of the fourth listed model for 10 bucks more, and the second choice by the same manufacturer is listed as "Award winning". You should probably get a second (or third) opinion, but that's my two cents. |

Ooook. (Anything Western Digital should be fine. I've used a bunch of their hard drives and they've all worked great. Just go with the biggest one you're willing to eat the cost for.) |

Aye, I've had good luck with Western Digital as well. When it comes to hard drives, they know their shit. |

There used to be an image here telling you to vote, but then Photobucket, the image site made to allow you to do third party hosting, no longer allows third party hosting without throwing a shitload of money at them... and I can barely afford to eat. So no you get some text of me bitching about it, yaaay! Also, go vote. Everyday I'm tumbl'n. "This bitch is makin' me all Paru..." ~Hang in There, Kogasa-san! | |

I'd definatly go for Western Digital. Their tech support and drive tools are very good. |

Alright. I've got some computer problems and I know we have a few tech geeks here that might be able to fight. Neither of my CD drives are registerign right now. When I go to the device manager, it says "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" Any help I could get here would be appreciated. |

Probably a stupid suggestion, but have you tried Add/Remove hardware to uninstall then reinstall? |

Ooop. (Sounds like the drivers got messed up. What brand/model number are the CD drives? I might be able to hunt down a site where you can get new drivers.) |

try running them with only one plugged in at a time. sometimes a dead cd drive will screw with that whole ribbon cable. if not that, try downloading drivers from the manufacturers and installing them manually. |

your os. there is a chance that your os has an error, wether its through spyware or virus or something else, but really, the only time I've heard of 2 cd drives spontaniously not working is when one of them was dead. |

If you're worried about backing up your files, you may want to burn all your comic data to CDs/DVDs. If that's not an option, I believe there are online services that you can upload backups to. Or you could just blow it all on games. Seriously, yo. Advance Wars DS owns my life right now. |

this looks like the best thread for this question: My network connection at home only has one net jack, so I'm trying to use a hub to get two computers on at once, but the computers are a dell and a mac and they are not playing nicely, so how do I get them both on at once? I'm using SusCom, a toshiba cable modem, and a netgear hub |
