Okay, updated the plot a little bit. The new bit is in italics. |

Maybe I should have made it a different colour as well. I did that to make it easier to spot the changes. Also, that is unlikely to be that bit of plot finalised. Other ideas are coming to me now that might work in the place of various bits. Anyway, feel free to discuss. |

I got some experience I'm willing to impart...And sometimes helping other people becomes the path to helping oneself. If only more people realised that. It is the fundamental rule to true happiness, as far as I believe... Sorry, went a little philosophical there for a moment. What sorta help do you think you'll need? |

hm. At this point, nothing. Graphics are worrisome -- I don't have any right now and I /won't/ have any for phase 1 (which is closer to completion than I thought, but still a ways away), but eventually I'm going to need hex tilesets. programmatically, I'm going to eventually need to build a scripting language for in-engine cutscenes. Also, some kind of programmable UI -- LUA is looking good but I don't know it and I kind of am afraid to learn it. I'm trying to teach myself OpenGL but it's hard. Also, way way way way WAY down the line I'm going to need networking stuff. I'm building it bottom-up, though, writing all the code myself, instead of piecing together bits of other code and programs, so it's slow going. I really want to contribute more music, but that requires me to make more music. I'd also like to work on game design/balance, but you seem to have that firmly under control. The big thing you seem to want help with is content, but I personally believe in the "separate your content from your code" philosophy, and I don't know if helping yuo write the entire story before the engine is even functional and testable(ESPECIALLY testable) is a good idea. In fact, I personally suggest against it, but you've already got a lot done. I can do specific scene scripts -- actually, if you've got a scripting language of any kind for me to tinker with, I can try something. If not, I do know typical movie/tv/play format scripting. |

RPG toolkit comes with an in built language which might be worth looking at. If you want to help with game balance, be my guest... I've not actually generated the skillsets yet. Also, I find that knowing what sort of plot you have in mind for an area helps immensely when designing it. |

well, if you're making the maps, yeah. I suppose it would. <_< Don't ask me why, but I'd actually feel more comfortable writing my own scripting language than using someone else's, even if it meant a lot more work. |

Yeah, I can see why you'd prefer to use your own... Because using someone elses and discovering it doesn't do everything you need means you gotta recode it...which will cause you to read through their source code and try to comprehend the hell that's going on....and how to make it dance to your tune. Maybe I can help you design it, though. AIM me about it. |

Ooooh. Drek like! Drek LIKE! Ploty goodness! Oh, and tomorrow, I'll be putting in general descriptions of the character classes and stuff. This will be complete with a basic layout of how good they are with a particular stat, and some of the techniques they will use. Most techniques will come with a description...Should be interesting. |

As per a suggestion by Redmage, the Outlands now has a new subforum, of which I am Mod. General games design is to go there, including the design for this, and the forum card game. So, if you wanna help out, you can go here instead of using the threads here. |

For writing materials, there's a really cool free tabbed text editor I've used for GMing that might help: http://www.tranglos.com/free/keynote.html |

Thanks! I'm also now trying to figure out the battle system design. It looks to me like most monster graphics available use a monster-to-left-heroes-to-right approach so that's likely what's gonna be used. The pseudo-code is coming along nicely...although I've not modelled the status effects yet. Any other status effects you can think of? |

Works for me. I'm thinking of having the characters throw out dialogue when they are hit with an appropriate status effect. To add to the comedy. |

Laughter: Boosts Attack but slices Accuracy. If not cured within five turns, results in death. If a character with Laughter is hit with something which inflicts Depression, they instead lose Laughter, and vice versa. |

Spell failure/monster resist=joke about the useless "useful" spells not working when you need them to. Also, I read a bit into the plot (scanned it, will read completely later), read the italics, and the first thing that popped into my mind for entering that cave the people don't want you to enter would be to go into the well. Or the toilet. Or something. You could have a mini dungeon down there. ...except I think that's already been done... As I said, it was the first thing that popped into my mind. Yeah, I've been paying attention (justalittlebit). Just because I never post here doesn't mean I'm not listening. |

Dr. Wiley has surrendered. Mega Man has saved the planet from destruction. But will it last!!! "Think about it, mate: legends! When has a legend ever not been true, huh? HUH?!" --Marine, Sonic Rush Adventure "Good Morniii--AGH! I can't do it! I don't wanna be cute! I wanna be a boy!" --Ouran High School Host Club; Haruhi's English Voice Actor messing around. | |

Hmm... getting into a cave that people don't want you to enter. Okay, I don't know the details, but if you have a team mate who knows the area, have him or her pull the rest of your team to the side and say they know a way in. Cut away to another area that looks pretty much open, when the characters ask how they're supposed to get in, the one character holds a shovel. From here, you fade to black, fade in a few times to show the team is actually digging a tunnel in. If you realy want to make it a long one, have a scene during the digging where they set up camp in their little tunnel to sleep. |

I like Newbs suggestion for the status effects...Although not so much with laughter killing the party member. Having the party dig their way in is an interesting notion. Hmm. Might be able to do something with that idea. |
