Just wondering, we've had a lot of turnover in members since the decission was made long ago and I thought it might be intresting to see what people have to say now about it.

Do you all prefer megatopics, like the Videogame one, or do you prefer smaller topics about specific games/TV shows/Movies/whatever?

Just me being curious is all.

personally, I've always preferred the smaller ones, since it's easier to find the posts your looking for and typically there's not more than one conversation going on at one time.

Megatopics are more fun. We can trail off more, which I think is the meat and potatoes of this forum.

I'd prefer small topics, so it's easier to find stuff.

Yea, mega is better. Tangents go over better, which are why this place is so fun, and also finding things is harder if there is like 5000 threads a day, which there WILL be if we have small topics.

In order for smaller topics to be viable you'd have to impose some form of ordering on the place, such as subforums for each topic, or you'd very quickly be swamped under a load of potentially pointless topics.... which brings up the point of garbage collection of the useless topics and the like and well..... megatopics are easier.

Megatopics.

Sure, it's harder to find specific stuff in those threads but you can either start a new conversation about that specific subject (LIke Deadpool in the comicbook thread) or if you happen to have AIM/trillian/MSN, find someone you can chat with about said subject. (Cyrus)

As for the small topic's that keep popping up.

Honestly, I prefer smaller topics. On a side note, maybe we should have a video game subforum as well.

That's a really good idea if the small topics idea were to be used. Jewthy brings up a point with about General Discussion fourms getting cluttered (which would not be fun) but having a subfourm where we could pick a topic to discuss indetail might sovle it.

Shhh, don't worry MFD, it'll be alright. If we hurry we can make it back to the gentle confines of the kitchen sink before the new topic notices us.

Well, I prefer the smaller topics since, quite, often the Megatopics start going into areas that I totally don't want to read about which causes me to miss information in the thread that I did want since than I stop the respective Megatopics.

What might help with the whole issue of stuff getting lost would be for there to be a working search function in the forum. The entire time I've been here it's been that google search that doesn't seem to do all that much. I don't know how permanent that is or how hard it would be to arrange it, but if it's not exceedingly difficult, it would resolve what seems to be the only complaint against megatopics here.

Agh! No! Nononononono!

We don't need more subforums. If anything, we need less! The Serious Discussion one seems generally underused, and the fact that we even have spamsylvania is saying that "spam" doesn't belong in the GD. Which goes completely against what makes this forum so great.

Megatopics, all the way. Organization is not nearly as fun.

I wouldn't mind adding a couple of subforums, but it seems most people think the lack of them somehow keep all problems at bay.
There used to be an image here telling you to vote, but then Photobucket, the image site made to allow you to do third party hosting, no longer allows third party hosting without throwing a shitload of money at them... and I can barely afford to eat. So no you get some text of me bitching about it, yaaay! Also, go vote.

Maybe keeping a "Random Game Topic" topic as well as allowing for smaller ones.

Another forum I'm on kinda mixes things up. They use mega topics, but every 500 pages they lock the old one and start a new one. Granted, we'd probably have a higher number if we went that route, but I thought I'd toss it out.

I like how we have things now, except I would like to have Spamsylvania be merged with general. I want the games back and I want them to be active again.

Megatopics are easier to keep track of AND easier to catch up on. I generally only make sure to check Anime, games, sink, and a few others. Every now and then I taper off and check more of them. ANd when I'm reading through one, if it comes to a topic I don't care about I skip a couple pages and the topic has usually changed.

Bring back the popular games from Spam land. Like picture duel and payt. Keep sending the ones no one cares about there. I don't particualrly care about the postcount thing, but they are more fun when they are active.
