Paying Life is not equal to damage, and Discarding you hand works even if you have no cards in it, see the rules for Perplex from Ravinca perplex rules http://ww2.wizards.com/gatherer/CardDetails.aspx?&id=87992 |

Ok... is one ever really forced to pay life though? Edit: the rules explicitly state that the game ends when your life points hit zero or you run out of cards. Since you can't take damage that reduces you below zero, and theres no incentive to deliberately pay life points when it would kill you, the game thus logically comes down to who doesn't run out of cards first. |

No you aren't forced to pay life but that card lets someone with a decent amount of lifegain to control the game, and with that card on the feild firemane angel a nearly unstoppable lifegainer. |

On the other hand. Losing life is diferent from damage too(I checked the definition of damage). So theres a second way to end it. |

Oh yea, a single agent of masks would end the game if the life is low enough, but There is a easy way to win through attacking. |

That would require building a 3 color deck wouldn't it? As a side note, how does one interpret those diagonally split colors on the casting cost? You have to pay 4 of both or one or the other? edit: not to mention the casting cost of 8 -_-' |

It means you can use either of the colors for the cost. |

Ok, thats a bit better. Just a black white deck then, not bad. edit: random question: if you have two cards that change the basic rules of the game such as say turn order, and they contradict eachother, which one takes priority? The first one cast, or the second? |

Atleast one of the strongest Type 2 decks is three colors right now, and I run a W/B/G myself which used to be able to match it untill the reprinted Akroma. Edit : Thats dependant on the type of effects involved. |

Ok, assume the cards are both enchantments, for the sake of preventing card-type from coming into play. Basically, is it last card played takes priority? |

activated, triggered or static ability? Edit : If the abilites are activated or triggered yes, last on stack goes off first, but static is another thing all together. |

Most of the enchantments in the game are static effects, stuff that is continously in effect, but I honestly can't think of two cards that contradict each other to make an example of what would happen. |

Did you know? CSNESF already comes with a thread specifically for talking about magic cards! It's right here! |

The rules don't specifically single out static abilities in regards to the Lifo rules. So what happens if someone plays a cop, and than lets say someone else plays an enchanment that allows additional damage to reds?:-) Makes me wonder if magic players have been overlooking an obvious tactic or something. |

There used to be an image here telling you to vote, but then Photobucket, the image site made to allow you to do third party hosting, no longer allows third party hosting without throwing a shitload of money at them... and I can barely afford to eat. So no you get some text of me bitching about it, yaaay! Also, go vote. Everyday I'm tumbl'n. "This bitch is makin' me all Paru..." ~Hang in There, Kogasa-san! | |

It depends on how the damage is stacked, lay using shock with Leyline of the Lightning the COP would have to be activated twice, but a Shock powered up by Tok Tok the Lavaborn would be entirely prevented. |
