ESPECIALLY worthy causes. Revolutionary thing that would be in all the papers+never heard of+internet=ITS A TRAP!

Wow.... Ignorance@Home.

Its hardly a new idea, Randy. SETI has had us processing their data for YEARS. Plus, distributed computing isn't exactly a new idea, by far.

Oh, and just a quick note: A computer thats working hard uses more power than it would otherwise, so its not QUITE free, GJ :P

Meaning that this is obviously an elaborate trap to bring us back to the Dark Ages!

All they have to do is convince millions of computer users to use these programs, increasing energy usage since they will leave their systems on when they normally wouldn't! This will force power plants to burn more fuel to maintain an adequate level of power, burning through supplies faster! Before we know it, there will be no fuel left, leaving us without an alternative fuel source and dooming us all to an age of ignorance and darkness!

You almost got away with it, people trying to cure cancer, but I'm on to you now.

somebody get FZ his tinfoil hat.

This is a noble thing those of you who are participating in are doing, so keep it up.

I however am unsure how this would affect my computer, (almost wrote infect. kinda wierd how close those two words are.) and since I just reformatted and reinstalled everything, I'm a bit wary about installing anything new.

Don't worry, if the Bison ever take over the midlands Godzilla will take care of them. Just like he did with Bambi.
