Same here.
My sister was the driving force behind vacations, and she's at college now.
My last vacation was in '05, I believe, and that was a week at the shore doing nothing whatsoever, being bored. The year before was a week at a DIFFERENT shore, and the year before was a week at a shore a few miles away from the shore of the next year.
Before that was Ohio, ohio, for many, many years.
Driving to ohio. Fun.
edit: The Disney World thing was back in '98 and '94, when I was too stupid and young to know better.

When my kids ask to go to a theme park I think I'll just give them a gun and tell them to go shoot something not human.

Good thinking. Eating rabies is MUCH better than a roller coaster.
Seriously, its a MUCH better rush.

Never said they had to eat it.

And besides, it prepares them for real life MUCH better than some cartoon mouse could.

The giant laughing weasel from a movie I don't know that I only know exists because of a photograph of when I went there as a kid is good prep though.
For the office boss.

If you go to a park in the off season, they can be damn fun. I've been to Islands of Adventure twice and loved it both times (Best roller coaster ever? The Hulk, easily. The water rides are fun too, although then you get to play "Who dies first of hypothermia?")

All the Hulk coaster needs to make it complete is a giant animatronic hulk that says hulk smash and punches the back of the roller coaster as it starts...

Also Dr. Doom's Fear fall, crappy ride, but you have to wait in line for it just once. Doom sounds like Doom and his lair is awesome.

Spider man is a great ride and who the hell decided Storm should get the flying tea cups?

Dood, it's physically impossible to be not-hot in Florida unless you're some sort of crazy southern mutant.

Doesn't matter if it's raining, in winter, at night, and you're in a freezer bathing in liquid helium. You're still gonna be trying to hog the fan.

Oh man, that would be so fricken' awesome. They should add that.

And I've never done Dr. Doom Fear Fall... Don't like the rides that jerk you up and down like that...

Normally this is true, but the water rides are a special exception. In fact, I don't think they use water, I think it's liquid oxygen. They keep that shit COLD. If you get on those rides sweating like crazy, you'll come off the ride with frostbite. And you are SOAKED too, so while you won't be cold for a super long time after you get off (You'll be cold for a good ten minutes or so), you will be soaked for a while.

They do keep the water cold.

But when it's really hot out (and it usually is when people go to water parks...), even only cool water seems frigid.

Universal has normal rides as well as two really good water rides (One is basically Super Splash Mountain and the other is one where you get in the circular thing that bounces down the waterway).

Watching the people bouncing around, I would disagree, but I might try it next time...

It shootds you up in the ait, you get a view of the park, then comes down... The ride overhypes itself with it's line
