You can't duplicate elixers, but you can get several stacks of 99 of them.
Hey, the comic seems to be updating kind of regularly. Maybe we should vote to spread the word.

Re: Antlions.

Also you go there to get sand pearls as Edward, and it turns out that the bard was right. Without Zemus's influence, they really are docile creatures that don't attack humans.

By the way, I wonder what kind of effect the sequel has on this story, if any.

Is the sequel set in stone, therefore everyone has to survive?
Does the fact that the sequel says nothing about that time Edward went nuts and terrorized Baron (and blew it up once) mean that Edward is wrong about his nature as just a game (in a sort of "Many worlds theory", "Myst"y kind of parallel world thing, where every fictional story is true as a result of infinite universes), and that what he's doing now is really his own choice?

I dunno. Bleh. Waxing philosophical on not enough sleep.

I'd have to say it's something like how the Sovereign was mentioning Chrono Cross to Magus offhandedly. It exists, but not in this videoland. This is for the SNES.

My guess is that it will have no effect on the comic; the sequel hadn't been made when Captain SNES entered Videoland (which I'm guessing was sometime around 2001), so as far as webcomic continuity is concerned, there is no FFIV sequel.

In terms of the effects that the sequel will have on Videoland when it finally does come out - years after Alex's adventures are over - well, I suspect that the FFIV characters will find themselves acting out the sequel regardless of whether events in Videoland "between" the game releases would have caused them to act differently.

On a different topic, Schrodinger is clearly a puzzle boss! All Kain needs to do is sit there and do nothing for a while, and Schrodinger will get bored and go away. ;)

I don't think The After Years will make a deep impact on the story...In fact, I get the feeling that Jay Dee is purposefully avoiding this game just so that it doesn't screw up the story he himself worked so hard on.

And I suppose as far as continuity goes, the Sovereign puts it best: There are three different timelines,

1) The events that SHOULD happen. Ex. Kain stays in Mt. Ordeals for 17 years as a hermit until Kluya finally redeems him and he becomes a Palad- er...Holy Dragoon.
2) The events that one WANTS to happen. Ex. Kain takes out Cecil and takes Rosa for himself for a HAPPY ENDING!!
3) The events that ACTUALLY DO happen. Ex. Kain becomes a Dragoon/Ninja who gets brainwashed (again) into being evil and trying to retrieve the 8 crystals, becomes trapped in a battle with Schrodinger.

Actually... that "three timelines" were all referring to existing things when she was talking to Magus. Chrono Cross, Captain SNES, and Radical Dreamers.

Not sure what happens in Radical Dreamers (Magus sacrifices his life?), but I'm pretty sure that if Magus dies in Captain SNES, then he's not going to be able to do that in Radical Dreamers, or make his hidden appearance in Chrono Croess.

The appearance that's so hidden, he doesn't actually appear!

The Guardian Legend - By Red Silvers (VLP): Our Red Silvers continues to find the weirdest worksafe pictures of the game's protagonist, a plane that transforms into a waifu.

Super Metroid - By Red Silvers (VLP): I think it's safe to say at this point, that Samus ain't leaving her suit once Red Silvers finally gets around the finishing this game.

Fantastic Dizzy - By Red Silvers (VLP): Fresh off his recent run of Super Metroid, Red Silvers tackles yet another, err... classic? (Egg-scuse me for being confused about Red Silvers' next choice.)

You know, actually going back and checking the comic itself, I retract my previous statement. Although Magus does find and keep safe Kid/Schala, he doesn't sacrifice himself in Radical Dreamers. At least, in the main ending. He probably might in one of the many wacky alternate endings.

That being said, to me the universes of CSNES, and Chrono Cross are completely separate. Magus from CSNES never will maybe become Guile. Because it's not on the SNES.

And more to the point, The After Years will have nothing to do with FFIV-Land.

Mother 3 and Earthbound is a different story, though, given the presence of Advance in SNES-era Videoland...

Not so sure from a purely technical point of view. JayDee got the story down before Mother 3 came out and it's still Japan-only.

Well, yeah, outside of the story its entirely impossible to fit in, but the in-story explanations we're using to bar The After Years don't bar it.

It also helps in terms of it not appearing that it takes place decades to centuries after Earthbound in-universe.

Yep. I'm afraid it is true. After Years will not come into play with the Final Fantasy IV in Captain SNES. Even though Porom becomes a sexy pink-haired bishojou and Palom becomes a badass.

You are not the author. Please don't try to sound authorative on such things. Even though it is all true.
