While the death star versus Enterprise is a nice fight, I'm more interested in who will die first, the random storm trooper (which, I might remind you, is supposed to know how to shoot but when faced with a protagonist, fires blindly) or the random redshirt (which, we know, has 99,9% of chances of dying every time it breathes.

True. Redshirts die vs mooks on a regular basis. Stormtroopers only die vs. protagonists and teddy bears.

Redshirts don't always die.
If they get themselves a name, like Miles O'Brian or Reginald Barclay they become invincible.

Um, there was an episode in TNG where it was kind of like Death Star verses The Enterprise. You know, the episode where they find Mr. Scotty trapped in a wrecked ship stuck in a transporter beam.

Yeah, the enterprise technically lost that one, but the 'death star' didn't win either. So this whole thing is a moot point.

Also, I predict those two guards dying in some horrible fashion of Alex's choosing.

Unless Alex convinces them to let them out and have them join.

Hmm... I wonder if any of the crew on the Enterprise are a fan of bullet hell games?

Edit: Prediction time. Wouldn't it be ironic if the Redshirt lived and the Stormtrooper hit something it was aiming at?

...wait, maybe it wouldn't. I forgot which definition of irony she uses.

By Next Generation time they didn't kill off redshirts nearly as often.

You want to look at a guy that defied the odds, look at Scotty. He beamed down with Captain Kirk all the time and ended up outliving the guy and 99% of the Enterprise crew.

Well, Scotty did die once during TOS (second season during "The Changeling"), but he got better. ;) Another thing to consider, if that guy is from TNG Era, he isn't security like in TOS (security wears gold in TNG), but a member of the command division. He could very well be the one in charge.

As for Deathstar vs. Enterprise, check out how the Galaxy-classes handle in DS9 "Sacrifice of Angels", or how Kirk's Enterprise resolved the TOS episodes "The Doomsday Machine" (massive automated world-eating WMD with armor able to shrug off phaser fire and photon torpedoes) or "The Immunity Syndrome" (star system eating giant freaking space amoeba!) Hell, put Data in a shuttlecraft and have him do the trench run! a ST shuttlecraft seems to be at least as maneuverable as an X-wing and better protected to boot thanks to it's shields, if Luke could do it with the Force, Data should be able to do it with his greater-than-human skills and reflexes. Heck, he could just deliver an explosive charge right to where it needed to be via transporter rather than shooting it down the tube.

That was a Dyson Sphere. Totally different.

No, really. It wasn't a battlestation. All it had, I think, was the tractor beam that pulled things into it.

Transporters don't work through defensive shields, and the Death Star has very, very good shields.

...sorry. This kind of thing tends to happen when the issue is brought up.
At least he didn't bring up the Balrog's Wings issue!

Assuming equal weapons and shielding output (which the hardcore fans don't as a rule), the Death Star would win for the simple reason that if the superlaser misses, it's still a giant space ball of doom with thousands of weapons emplacements. It has about 15,000 turbolaser emplacements and more railguns and proton torpedo tubes according to Wookiepedia, and being a giant ball of doom, it's likely that about half would always be pointed at the Big E (that means 7,500 beams of doom with the E's name on it). As far as I'm aware, even the Enterprise-E doesn't have more than 20 weapons emplacements, so it's pretty much SOL.

Of course, that's when plot power and the laws of narrative comes in, but that's the basic story, stats wise.

But I'm more interested in what Alex will do to get out of jail...

^^^
This.

Plus, useing actual weapon power ratings, a single turbolaser can rip right through the Enterprise and it's sheilds like a hot knife through butter (remember picard and crew eyes bugging out when an enemy starship phaser banks had a 400 megewatt power rating? Yeah, I believe the average turbolaser has a power rating exceeding a million megawatts).

Your point about plot armor brings up a good point about videoland causality, though...

(Oh snap! Videoland causality must be, like, my catch phrase in this nick of the forum!).

Isn't the normal comparison Enterprise versus a Star Destroyer? Putting it up against the Death Star is silly.

Now, Unicron on the other hand...

the debate is moot, as its very difficult to imagine even in Videoland.

Plus, how else does Alex kill things? With the Scope!

I'm just anxciously awaiting the scene from that one video feed Alex's captor has. It's coming up, sooner or later. Though we'll get to the brain-bleaching scene first.
