Oh, but let us count the ways this can (and likely will) go so very wrong for him.

Amy: You do have a plan, don't you?
Doctor: Of course I do!

So is she his first official member on the team rather than just being in the same party because paths were taking them that way?

Cause, you know, no one in Videoland is going to know how RPG parties work.

Come to think of it, does this mean Alex is still bound by other RPG rules?
"Speaking of being terrible at games, Red fumbling with the blocks in Magnet Man's level has to be seen to be believed. If the definition of insanity has to do with expecting different results upon trying the same thing, then he must be one of the most insane people I've ever known." - Brickroad

The Guardian Legend - By Red Silvers (VLP): Our Red Silvers continues to find the weirdest worksafe pictures of the game's protagonist, a plane that transforms into a waifu.

Super Metroid - By Red Silvers (VLP): I think it's safe to say at this point, that Samus ain't leaving her suit once Red Silvers finally gets around the finishing this game.

Fantastic Dizzy - By Red Silvers (VLP): Fresh off his recent run of Super Metroid, Red Silvers tackles yet another, err... classic? (Egg-scuse me for being confused about Red Silvers' next choice.)

I think as Captain SNES he can weave himself through any game mechanics as he sees fit.

Whatever happens, it's gonna be interesting.

...I wish I had more to say.
Dr. Wiley has surrendered. Mega Man has saved the planet from destruction. But will it last!!!

This is probably one of the reasons why Alex KNOWS this is a bad idea. :P

But do parties work in Nexus?

I know that a lot of RPG rules are scrapped here.

Battle spheres work (and Alex used one in Nexus), lest we forget. So, the party system works. But people knew about battle spheres, so they probably know about parties as well.

And Bob also joined, instead of just being in the same party.

Wait, does this mean that Lisa is there when he drops the soap by King Hippo?

:O_O: or perhaps,
It's a flimsy pretext, but I'm sure that the N-Team have gotten away with worse.

Well, at least she'll be of use against random encounters.

Being from an RPG, she'll probably instinctively save the sudden but inevitable betrayal and attempt at inducing TPK for a boss fight or dungeon-endpoint.

But she's from an adventure game, comparable to single player Secret of Mana with less options. Her skills include being held hostage to make NPCs do as told, being held hostage for PCs to save her, and apparently being held hostage by mind control to force Alex to fight for her.
Hey, the comic seems to be updating kind of regularly. Maybe we should vote to spread the word.

So basically he just got himself a girlfriend he didn't want?

Anywho, yeah, this will end bad. Though not all RPGs use the single sprite as leader party system, though the only one I can think of that doesn't is Chrono Trigger.

And as for her being there when he drops the soap around King Hippo, don't go to that place of scary mental images. For all we know she said something to make Alex drop it.

So, in RPG terms, she has the Final Fantasy skill "cover" as her main attack, usuable mainly by the enemy side.

So, typical video game love interest. Gotcha.
