... that can't be good.

At least explains how she was familiar with the Phoenix spell, I guess.

I just want to know how Palom knows the word "phagocytosis"...

But... yeah, I can't really see this ending well. Gotta be more careful with what you say, Lucca...

very interesting, so with this intergame traveling and the existence of the game master not everyone is aware they are in a game?

Someone throw a computer in front of Rydia in that last panel, and I'll totally use it as an avatar. :P

Great episode. I love Lucca more with each comic.

Sam: Norm you look down, what's wrong?
Norm: New boss chewed me out. Said I "Lack enthusiasm".
Cliff: Well, is that true?
Norm: I, uh I dunno. Maybe. Who cares?

Those in nexus seem to understand the concept of games (or at least the fact that some worlds operate by different rules and cliches) but the universe is still real to them. Only the touched seem to truly comprehend that their world is just a collection of someone else's entertainments.

Huh... Wasn't aware Lucca knew the lingo. I find that very interesting. As does Rydia.

Another fun comic. Though... What is Palom doing in Gato? Digging out Alex's pants and controller, or...?

I imagine so, Gaius.

So, I had a thought while reading this comic. Remember how Rydia had to learn Fire in Final Fantasy IV? I could easily imagine that it translated into the comic as her preferring Ice spells.

Mask v. Shard.

Fire v. Ice.

Lucca v. Rydia.

Believe.

This is a fascinating and believable direction, and I wholeheartedly approve.

I actually find it encouraging, oddly enough. I don't see a tinge of purple in her dialog, after all, and her "desperation is the hope at the edge of hopelessness" monologue certainly seems like a fusion of hope and sorrow in one fiery blast. I have to dare hope that she's managed to integrate the taint of sorrow into herself rather than be consumed by it the way every Touched before has. All that and a brain like hers could be very promising indeed.

But, yeah, I think that's why Rydia is flipping out: metagame knowledge without manifesting signs of the Sovereign is definitely intriguing.

Of course, it really could just be a brain hiccup and a Touched memory surfaced when it really shouldn't have.

Yeah, the people in nexus do seem to understand that they are in game worlds.. yet Magus and Mario knew of this too. And King Koopa. Nexus is, well, the center of all Video Land. It stands to reason that they know all sorts of things. Lucca's been remembering stuff like that the entire time. Remember why they picked Frog? First they went for Magus due to his ability to travel through dimension, then Ayla because, really, beating people to a pulp with one's fists is universal. And finally Frog because, well, I guess because they couldn't go forward in time top get Robo. Poor Frog. And yet, they unexpectedly got the best choice there. Masamune=WIN. And maybe Palom and Porom will think to ask the Elder about the Shard of tears now, too.

And no one seems to be remembering that Mario has been an RPG character. Legend of the Seven Stars, awesome game. Low level cap, about 30 if I remember right. Rather light-hearted game. Doubt we'll see any real references to it due to it not using sprites, but polygons. No guest appearances of good old Mallow or Geno, though we may get to see Peach use a frying pan on King Koopa. Or maybe one of her parasols, but her ultimate weapon was a frying pan.

And yes, please let Palom be searching for Alex's pants. Which he so desperately needs to get back in the story, not just the out-of-continuity stuff or up in the future when he's doing flashbacks.
