Heh. Maybe he'll be placed in a Robo recolored to look like Gato, for ease. Also, maybe I'm missing something, but why does Rydia want to speak with Rubicante? |

She said 'irreparable' in quotation marks. That's highly suspect. I wonder if she means that as the truth, or just what she's going to end up telling them. Maybe that's why she wanted them to leave. She didn't want them to see that she wasn't going to try to fix him. It certainly makes more sense than her opening up a radioactive core without any protection. ... Unless she wants to die herself and make sure that NOBODY gets that information she's learned. |

"It dies with the two of you." It sounds to me like she's not going to reactivate Gato... and she's going to kill Frog. |

I thought she was refering to Milon and Gato, but what throws me about the line is that she still knows it. |

She uses too many pronouns rather than proper names in that soliloquy at the end of the comic... I can't actually tell who she's talking about. But that's what came to mind immediately. ...you sound more right, though. |

My interpretation was 'the two of you' meant Milon and Gato. I'm curious as to what she plans to ask Frog to do. I wonder if she wants him to kill her if it becomes necessary... The quotes around 'irrepairable' seems to be pretty blatantly meaning that she's going to do as much as she can manage to make his deactivation permanent. Easier to just say "he's gone" then to try to explain her reasoning without giving information that she doesn't want to. |

Huh. I hadn't gotten your interpretation, Cyrus, but it's unclear enough that you could be right. I'm just more inclined to think it's Gato and Milon since both are presently dead (so far as we know). Also, her other lines reinforced this: "I... still don't know if I should tell him. What that little trick cost me. Or what I'm probably going to need him to do for me." But that may be because I'm presuming she refers to Frog. Partly because what she'll 'need him to do' for her may require the Masamune. It's not impossible she wants him to be prepared to kill her with it if she goes all Mistress of the Flame again, but... We'll see. EDIT: Ninja'd. |

I do think she is referring to the eater of dreams and gato, I do think that what Lucca is going to ask Frog to do is deeper than just handing over the masamune, since that has proven to be the only weapon effective against the sovereign and she obviously knows she cannot be trusted with it. I thought she would ask him to find the gamemaster since she cant be trusted to come near him..but its all speculation here rite? |

It's pretty clear to me that Gato can be restored: hell, he was never damaged, Lucca ordered him offline. She ordered everyone out so that they wouldn't see that Gato was still functional. "The two of you" is Gato and Scarmiglione. Really no other way it could be, since she had mentioned both of them in the same paragraph as that sentance. |

I just thought of something! Remember how Rubicante wanted a role he could relate to? A more noble role than Spoony? He might just get his wish... But, yeah. Where to next? |

Milon and Gato, gotta be who she's talking about. As for what she needs to ask Frog to do for her, that's up in the air. Gato's probably down for the count, at least until the Sovereign is dealt with. The Masamune probably all are linked due to the name, because this is all from young Alex's impressions of them, not the current one. Going by that, any RPG game characters from a game that actually made it to the States, especially on the Nintendo systems, is probably level 99 with max stats. Except for Edward and probably Gau. Gau does suck, unless you can get some bosses in his arsneal. Your supposed to be able to get all eight Dragons but I only ever found the White Dragon on the Veldt. |

long time lurker, first time poster, etc. I expect Alex/Ryan banter. Or we can find out what's going on in Kain's Sisyphean task. And I guess we haven't checked out what Magus or Mario are up to, much less the rest of the FFIV crew and Crono. So, like, anything really. But I still think we'll be at the prison with Alex and Ryan. And Atalas, it really doesn't take much work at all to make Gau the most useful character in the World of Balance. One assumes that Alex was a skilled and knowledgeable gamer and, statistically at least, Cyan is probably the worst FFVI character. Not nearly as bad as Edward, of course, but still. But who knows. Count me among the many people happy to see regular updates, though! |

Agreed on pretty much all points, archaeo. I don't think Alex's Gau lived up to that potential, though. Which wouldn't be too surprising: Gau's use is directly related to the player's knowledge of what his Rages can do, and many players found all that knowledge to be way too much of a bother, thus writing him off during the SNES days. Then GameFAQs made it so very easy. But who knows? Maybe Alex filled out Gau's Rage list purely for completion reasons. Even with pathetic stats, some of his more broken stuff (Nightshade comes to mind) could make him stand out. As for where the comic's going... ^__^ There are far too many options, and it's fantastic that I'd be interested in pretty much all of them. Magus and Mario might be the front-runner, but I also barely remember what was happening at the Lunarian Moon. But, as archaeo says, more cell talk with Alex and Ryan seems likely. |

Cell talk isn't *likely*, it's a given. That's been the framework for the whole story, so far, and until either the cat busts him loose or the story gets him captured, it will continue to be so. One of the things we've been teased with constantly about the upcoming chapter is the presence of FFVI characters, however, and I really want to see what they do with them. As I've said before, the Returners have dealt with and overcome more angst than any other FF game you could hope to mention. Introducing them to the Sovereign of Sorrows conflict should have about the same effect as introducing TNT to a campfire, and I'm looking forward to that. |

Gau defenders, a call to arms! He's seriously the most overpowered character in the game, but at least you have to work for that power. And did anyone play the GBA FF4? Edward was actually... GOOD! Cid became the worst character. Anyway, I can't wait for the next one. I wonder what scene we'll be going to? |

Man, if you thought FFIV Advance Edward was good, wait until you play The After Years. Dude was healing people more efficiently than Rosa. As for FFVI, who else is expecting Wrexsoul to show up? He was already a solid mass of sorrow and hatred, so just imagine what a Touched Wrexsoul would be like. |

Thank you, Enlong. That idea officially scares me now. ...mind you, all one needs to do is wait until he possesses one of his own minions, and then X-Zone the both of them strait to Hell. ...mind you, that could be how he became touched in your scenario to begin with, so it might not work anymore. In fact, he might be immune to invisibility and Phoenix Down as well. *Shudder* The thought of facing him in a "Fair" fight scares me, and that isn't taking into account Touched powers. ...DAMNIT! This is going to give me nightmares, I just know it!

as far as SNES games go, yeah, the Returners dealt with more angst than any I can think of. But the FFVII and FFVIII crews dealt with a truckload of the stuff, but that just won't be covered here. Gau is deadly, I do acknowledge that, but in the SNES days unless you had a player's guide (was there even a player's guide for us in the US?) or were really anal retentive about details like list completions, then he was just so-so. Personally I preferred using good old Gogo. Subpar stats be damned, that thing was too freaking versatile. I can't wait for the FFVI crew because of Sabin. He was my favorite character in that game and that position has only been solidified with the remakes (why oh why won;t they remake it for the DS? It would be so freaking AWESOME!). Seriously, guy can be doing max damage four times with one fight option if you build him up. Or more if you add in Quick... man that spell was so overpowered. Four Ultima's for the price of 1 mp each with the right relics, whoopee! Plus, it'd be awesdome for Cyan and Frog to meet. Two noble warriors who speak in thou's! And I am now imagining a face-up between the King's of FFIV and FFVI: Edward vs Edgar. Edward, meet the CHAINSAW! buh-bye now coldcuts. |

I don't know what you guys are talking about. There is no Gau. There is only Queif. Quaif. Quief. However the smeg you spell that word. The fact that he was named such speaking volumes about how Alex viewed his usefulness. |
