I don't know if anyone did this yet, but I thought it'd be interesting to go over a basic timeline of events in Alex's life thus far: Alex was born in June 14, 1979 (http://www.captainsnes.com/2002/07/09/intermission-1-the-lonely-cell/) Alex played Berserk in 1983 with his babysitter Hope. Alex was 4. The Captain N show appears from 1989 to 1991. Alex would have been from 10 to 12 during this time. Alex got Final Fantasy Legends for Christmas in 1989. He knew Bob, Hope, and Ryan at this time. Hope's Cat Here Since July 25th, 1992; Alex would have been 13. Ryan remembers everything about the elections up to this point- (http://www.captainsnes.com/2003/11/08/411-bait-and-switch/; ) Chrono Trigger comes out in 1995 Ryan does, however, remember the status of the SNES in 1997; Alex would have been 18 in 1997 ("Even in 1997, the SNES was past its prime. 4 Years Must Have Buried It" http://www.captainsnes.com/2002/07/18/165-tough-choices/) Interesting Conflicts: The Princess of Videoland was 7 before the Great Change (http://www.captainsnes.com/2003/03/14/299-taking-the-war-to-a-whole-new-level/). Hope (presumably POV) babysat Alex when he was 4 (in 1983). She should therefore have been at least 12ish (because I mean who babsits earlier?). Given that she was around 12 (at the least), she should have been born in 1971. She would have been 22 when the cat was sent through which is reasonable. But how could she have been born by Kevin and Lana BEFORE Nintendo even existed? DISCUSS |

Nintendo was nearly a hundred years old before the NES came along. So hey, nothing impossible about that. ![]() But more seriously... Here are a couple of possible explanations that occur to me: The perception of the Game Master may mean more than we've thought. It could be a kind of 'one year inside, one day outside' situation for Videoland. (And now I'm imagining a Changeling: The Lost game with a Durance in Videoland, and the Sovereign of Sorrow as a Keeper. Interesting...) Also, when was it said/inferred that Hope is the son of Kevin and Lana? It doesn't sound wrong, but I can't for the life of me remember hearing about it. |

Hope's last name is Keene, which Alex realizes while running in the Desert of Shattered Dreams (http://www.captainsnes.com/2003/01/07/254-revelation-interrupted/). When Ronnie mentioned the Princess of Videoland being 7, and when the Princess of Videoland (P.O.V) wrote on Alex's letter that she believed in him, I think it has just been commonly assumed that they were one in the same individual. But the timeline does seem to forbid that. Time working differently in Videoland seems like it would be a problem too because none of the characters seem to have aged considerably since Alex has played them. Additionally, Kevin was playing Punch Out before he was sucked into Videoland, which was in the 80s. Gameboy was made in 1989, and was in the Captain N cartoon; HOWEVER, Alex knew Hope in the early 80s, before Captain N met Gameboy and before there was ever a hint of a baby. If Hope is the POV, it would appear that time travel has to have taken place. |

What NES games had time travel? Star Tropics 2 is the only one that comes to mind immediately. |
Hey, the comic seems to be updating kind of regularly. Maybe we should vote to spread the word.

The Original Final Fantasy, though that required all of the elemental powers to be balanced between Good and Evil... Maybe Doc Brown had a hand in it. Didn't the Back to the Future series have a couple of games for the NES? |
| It's a flimsy pretext, but I'm sure that the N-Team have gotten away with worse. | |
