It's cool to see so many other fans of this wonderful show out there. Add me to the list.

I was born in 1969, watched the show off-and-on during its initial run (I wasn't mature enough yet to realize just how good the show was). Talk about a program that was truly ahead of its time. Through syndication I caught up to the show years later, and now I'm like all of you - even as I've seen everything already, I got my two DVD seasons and can't understand why we can't get the third.

I recently stumbled onto a 1979 Sports Illustrated article (one-pager) reviewing the show, very favorably at that. It's the baseball preview issue with Rice and Parker on the cover. If it's not web-available or anyone wants to read it, I'll transcribe - it's probably about 15 paragraphs.

I'm also wondering if any Carver memorbilia is out there - if I could find a Carver poster for my office I'd be euphoric (not Phil-PCP euphoric, but close). I also loved that ESPN ad where Reeves claimed the colleges today were all copying the offensive sets Carver ran.

Anyway, hello to all, and I look forward to running some laps with everyone. At least the gym isn't too big!

Thank You!!!

I am Jack, and thrilled to be a new member of Carver Chat to discuss my favorite series The White Shadow. The wonderful elements of this series was how much it resembled a documentary where the acting (with very few exceptions) was outstanding. This was like watching a documentary.

The topics on the show would have been taboo in other series for that time: Racism, urban violence, homosexuality, alchoholism/drugs, rape, even murder. Everyone was wonderful in their roles and Ken Howard established legendary status as Coach Reeves.

I look forward to discussions of this great show!

Jack:

It is great to see a fan of the show come aboard. Us members always look forward to new additions to the family. This is in hopes that this board will last a long long time and with any luck can expand to something even greater.

TWS:

Any ideas for this board or any future endeavors please drop me a message and we can talk.

I don't know why, but as I grew up I loved watching T.V. shows that centered around a school. I think of Boy Meets World, Head of the Class, Saved By the Bell, Boston Public, Welcome Back Kotter, and of course, The White Shadow. To this day I love chilling out and watching the reruns. I ended up becoming a teacher and loved it.

Anyhow, thanks for the site.

I just found this site and had to register. I haven't seen an episode in years so I will have to get the dvds and brush up - the attention to detail on here is amazing.

Also, if any of you guys want to come over to the trailer and pitch some horseshoes you are always welcome.

Hi guys! The White Shadow was one of my favorite shows growing up in the Chicago area. I used to watch it with my brother. He was and still is really into basketball. Of course, I had a crush on some of the players. I had really forgotten about the show but then came across the seasons 1 & 2 dvd's for sale and decided to buy them. I'n glad I did--I have really enjoyed watching the shows again. There's so many funny moments going on in the background sometimes that we missed in the days before vcr's and dvd's.

I came across this site when reading a review of the dvd's. As a high school history teacher, I don't always have much time for posting but I hope you don't mind if I add my two cents every now and then.
