Veteran actors Tippi Hedren and Ken Howard will take part in a reading of A.R. Gurney's Love Letters Sept. 15 in San Pedro, CA.

The evening, which will benefit the ROAR Foundation and the Shambala Preserve, will be presented at the Warner Grand Theatre. Tony Torrisi will direct the 7:30 PM performance.

Love Letters, according to production notes, "chronicles a relationship solely through written correspondence. The story is about Andrew Makepeace Ladd III (Howard) and Melissa Gardner (Hedren) whose poignantly funny friendship and ill-fated romance takes them from second grade through adolescence and then into maturity and middle age." The work premiered at Connecticut's Long Wharf Theatre in 1989 with Joanna Gleason and John Rubenstein and has been performed all around the world. Laura Linney and Steven Weber starred in a television version of the play.

Ken Howard has appeared on Broadway in Promises, Promises; 1776; Child's Play; Seesaw; Little Black Sheep; The Norman Conquests; 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue; and Rumors. He is perhaps best known for the long-running TV series "The White Shadow."...Read on
