We can always be thankful for what we have of the White Shadow, but, when we all sit back and reflect I think we will always be left with a slight feeling of emptiness.

I do understand that at some point the first set of guys had to eventually move on, that was a given! But, I also feel there wasn't enough consistency of the story line to really decide who stayed and who left!

It was clearly stated in Season 2 that Gomez was a Junior. So, he could have return without missing a beat!

It was never mentioned what grade Phil Jeffers was in either. I mean sure he was in some classes with the other seniors but, we all know in high school that doesn't mean anything! So, he could have came back in season 3 as well!

A show like this with so many angles and possibilities really needed a much longer time frame to accomplish what we all feel would have been ENOUGH, on the inside!

At the minimum 2 more seasons to explorer the "New Guys" might have provided the closer that we all long for after 30 thankful years!

Case in point: I'm sure we can all visualize in our heads what Coolidge, Thorpe, Reese, Salami, Nick, Hayward, Gomez, Goldstein, and even Phils houses all look like!

Now can anyone tell me what Rutherford, Mitchell, Falahay, Stone, or Franklins house looked like?

Just seems to me that the producers kinda gave up on a show that just had so much more life left in it to explore....

Rutherford seemed pretty uptown, he probably had the nicest home of the bunch. Mitchell struck me as coming from well-to-do parents as well.

Falahey and Stone would have had average homes, I think. Franklin would have had the worst of the bunch, given how he dressed.

I totally agree, Bobby...so much more could have been done with the show. More definitely could have been done with the Rutherford, Mitchell, and Franklin characters. Falahey could have disappeared after one season and I wouldn't complain. Stone got old fast, too, but the producers would probably hold on to him because of the goofball act.

Rutherford and Franklin didn't stay with acting very long after TWS, which is a shame...I thought they were both kind of talented. Falahey and Stone have had acting roles here and there; Stone is mostly directing and producing low-budget films. Mitchell has probably had the most success in the acting world, with a regular soap-opera role and numerous movies.

Yeah, i mean, why didn't they take the time like they did in the first two seasons to show the characters home lives and their parents and things? That would have enabled so many more story lines and so many more great episodes!

I could so see an episode with Franklin where his family can't pay the rent and he needs to go out and do something that the coach wouldn't like to get some fast cash and at the end the coach saves the day by getting him a job after practice working at a save-alot type place stocking shelves!

Or an episode where Rutherfords parents want him to leave Carver and go to a private school for a better education and Sybil and Ken have to combined forces to convince them to let him stay!

Well, the point is, seems like they got away from the Richer parts of the show to save money on stage props or something instead of putting in a real effort to make the show shine!!

You guys make some VERY valid points, as far as what more they could've done.

They really didn't develop the season 3 guys very much. From everything I've heard or read it just sounds like Bruce Paltrow had to fight to even get a 3rd season to begin with. The compromise with CBS was that they had to make the tone of the show lighter, which in turn, I think, took away a lot of what made the show so great to begin with. I'm guessing they may have seen the handwriting on the wall, as far as it being their last season as well.

As for some more random thoughts...I've got a few to share...

-Anyone notice when Gomez's mom and aunt come to visit the coach in his office, and his aunt says (referring to the gun), "She found that in Roberto's closet." Ummm take two?

-Maybe I'm missing something, but why in the world would New York think getting thrown out of that shoe store with 2 DIFFERENT COLORED display models was a good deal?

-Speaking of the GLOBETROTTER episode...who was Adam, the kid who hated junior high? It seemed like we were supposed to know who he was.

-Lastly, Reeves was shown throughout the show giving several different good pregame peptalks. Anybody else notice how much better the one in "Gonna Fly Now" was? It's like a real coach came in and gave them very real game situations to work with or something.

From "Car Repo":

Julie Pettrino: Mario, ya got the man comin' with the cement today, rememba?

Yeah, I know, Papa Pettrino worked construction...but, maybe "the man" was a Mafioso and "the cement" was Mario's new style of footwear if he didn't pay up his latest track losses?

I catch you two Al Pacinos messin' in my emergency fund again, I break ya fingers!

In "A Christmas Story", ok, Reeves calls off practice because he wants the team to help run a basketball clinic (and he wants to put the make on Sis Catherine)...however, when he arrives at the parish, only Cool, Franklin, Rutherford, Thorpe, and New York are with him. How did Salami, Irish, Mitchell, and the nobodies get out of it?

Hey, anybody still out there?

Ever notice in "Vanity Fare" when Salami jumps up and gives the team the pep talk, he mentions he was team captain the year before. Uhhh, Mario...you started out being named team captain, but remember Albert Hodges organized the brothers against Reeves and got Hayward named team captain. How soon we forget.

Lucius,

I hear what your sayin, but, i'm gonna have to go out on a limb here and say that I think once Albert left for BC...just to bring things back to a medium....Salami must have or we should assume that he resumed his role as team captain....

Personally, as far as a team captain, I would have went with Thorpe!!

I liked Hayward as team captain. In "Mainstream", it seems Hayward retained his role as captain when Reeves asks him to take over when he has to leave to get Thomas out of the peanut costume.
Then again, I think this episode aired before Albert Hodges, so my point may be irrelevant.

Not necessarily irrelevant. I think he stayed on as captain. If you remember Reeves put Hayward in charge after Jeff Simpson got hurt and Reeves went into the locker room with him.

Well, there is such a thing as Co-Captains, so that is a strong possibility as well! I guess we will never know..... :dribble:

Reeves had this thing for girls named Paula...there was Paula Jenkins, the sex-ed teacher in either "Me?" or "Albert Hodges" (though she more of a thing for him than vice versa), Paula Huntley in "Gonna Fly Now", and Paula Harris in "Reunion."

Det. Paula Huntley was the best...
