*Before Barns could say anything, Frost darted into the room to assist Kat. Normally, Barns would protest or force the man to stay with him, but Kat seemed to hit some brick walls with her progress. With Frost in there, Barns knew that Ignis would recover, for it seemed that Frost had done this before. The Russian could tell how cool and laid back Mr. Frost acted at the site of Ignis. Barns took note of this and watched the two go to work. Only moments passed when Frost found an antibiotic that seemed to work on Ignis. As soon as the doctor started injecting the fluid into the alien's body, Barns walked into the room listening to Frost's words. Not only did Frost seem so calm about the situation, but he also said some things that hinted that this was perhaps not the first time Frost had encountered this. Looking to Kat, she seemed to be at a loss, but at the same time she almost looked like she wanted to say something. Perhaps the same questions that were going through Barns' mind. Well, if she wouldn't ask, Barns would.* "Like any others"? Frost, are you implying this is not your first encounter? If it is not, I'm going to have to ask you to release information on your operations. The FBI won't allow such on this land, unless it is government sanctioned. *This was starting to get deep. His day had been normal until the alien showed up. Aliens, a woman in distress, and a "doctor" who seems to have more than just a medical facility. What could this man be hiding? What experiments or aliens has he tested on? Barns wanted answers, and he wanted them now.* |

Frost paused in his work for a brief moment as Barns began to speak to him. He turned his full attention to the Russian-American and for that moment, his once kind and understanding gaze was sharp, intelligent, and unyielding. The smile though, never once left his features. Is it against the law to treat the ill? He asked with a tilt of his head. For a brief moment, he regarded Barns, trapping the man within the gulf between his eyes and some point of brilliant thought far beyond what anyone could see. For that moment, Frost seemed like the most scheming, beguiling creature to ever walk the face of the planet...well this one anyway. After the moment has passed, he shrugged, pushing his lenses back upon the bridge of his nose and turned back to his work, as if the problem, and Barns' command meant very little to him. After checking the air flow to the mask attached to Ignis' face, Frost figured that he could not very well leave it at that. No one was ever satisfied with just the simple truth. With a sigh he turned back to the Russian and spoke again. I've never seen any indication that the government must sanction medical procedures that can save a life. Ah, but Mister Barns... You can ask what ever you wish. He grinned, and almost malevolent grin. Weather I answer or not, is an entirely different matter... Patients are protected under privacy laws. Certainly you, of all people, would know that. Barns would see a coy smile, and then the doctor silently instructing Kat to preform one action or another in order to stabalize the slowly recovering alien. And Kat herself was none too comfortable in the situation. She felt like tension had peaked and there was nothing she could do about it. Finally Frost stopped talking to Barns, and turned to give her more instruction. She eagerly accepted, wishing desperately to do something to get her mind off the current situation. The more she worked, the less she saw Ignis as something alien. Soon the though passed from her mind all together, until she actually looked at him again, and realized just how devilish he looked. This mental process would repeat itself quite often, but Kat never stopped doing her job... and she didn't say anything either. Why open her mouth, if this government worker would peg her for some illegal action also. She was good at being innocent, she was good at following orders, and she was good at being invisible when she wanted to. |

*Barns folded his arms as he listened to Frost twist his words. The mouth of the scientist was like a snake slithering in the tall grass waiting to strike. For now on, Barns would choose his words more carefully. What really irked Barns was how Frost ended his argument in silence and a coy smile. This guy was one twisted character indeed. While Barns wished not to break out into a full argument about "rights" and other political matters, Barns knew this man was doing more that he was playing on. With a slight huff, he came back strong.* There is nothing wrong, sir, with healing the sick. It is the implication of what you do with them after you "help" them that concerns me... Or perhaps do you have some twisted thought of healing? *What Barns really wanted this man to do was to stop messing around and come forward with straight answers. He didn't have to even mention any of his "patients", only just exactly he was doing with them; however, Barns knew that Frost might just not answer at all. His eyes glanced over to Kat for a moment wondering what was going through her mind as the two spoke. Barns also wondered when Ignis would awake. When he awoke, everything would be dropped to take care of him. * |

Frost had nothing better to do, so he only smiled at Barns as he made his rather unscientific, blanket statement. Assumptions, piff, they tended to kill people. One would assume this patient had such an illness with out testing it, and that poor soul would die for a doctor's negligence. Or, one would assume that a scientist -well meaning of course- had some sinister plot up his sleeve, in which case, a lot of people would die. Of course that would be to keep the sinister plot hidden. Either way, regardless to whether the assumption was right or wrong, it still was a dangerous one, and Frost let Barns know that in his winter blue eyes. Even still, he answered. It's insulting to think you assume my intentions are anything but pure. I sir, am a doctor. What WOULD one such as I do with a patient after they are well, but congratulate them for their survival? He removed the breath mask after a few more minutes, telling Kat that it would do him little good right now. The bacteria was on the waning side, slowly retreating because of the powerful antibiotics that were now being steadily pumped into the foreign creature's body. Perhaps, if he got the agent a bit more interested in something else, other than what he intended on doing with his patients. Waving a hand over toward Barns, he beckoned him over and then pointed out the thick rippled muscles that lay tightly under the alien's mottled gray flesh. This interests me Mister Barns. They don't look ordinary do they? Far too large for the bone structure, don't you think? He pointed out the odd, sharp jawline the creature had, and though his eyes were closed, Frost also made note to point out how pointed the eye ridges were, how pronounced the bone structure was in odd places. Oh, it wasn't enough to make the being look deformed -though by human standards, he probably looked like that anyway-. Thees too. Strangely sculpted for such a being's body type. I think more is ailing this creature than just influenza. Pausing, he looked to Kat, and saw her eyes ever attentive on him, as always. It was why he liked her so much. It was why she was so promising to him. She never stopped taking in things with those deep brown, almond shaped eyes. Slipping his hands away from the Alien, he turned his head back to Barns, fixating him with an icy blue gaze that was common for him, but so uncommon for a man, a normal man. What do you think it is? His face broke out into a sincere expression of curiosity. He was, indeed, eager to hear what Barns thought about the matter, because frankly Frost didn't know...yet. |

*Barns was getting sick of this man and his twisted ways. Frost's words seemed to hold both truth and poison. The words held even a certain command behind them. Even now, Barns was slowly being moved to the new subject. In the back of his mind, the thought about the other "patients" still lingered. Barns kept silent as Frost motioned for him to look at the alien that the three present had discovered this day. Barns moved a bit closer not being afraid of the sleeping alien. While he listened to Frost, he tried to figure out exactly what the "doctor" was hinting at. Barns did not have the best of knowledge on biology and how the flesh works. If one thing did connect, it was the muscles. Frost was right... They were too big for the overall structure of the alien. Was something causing the alien to undergo changes perhaps? Now, Barns' mind was deep in thought of a different possibility of what could be injuring Ignis. Where was the connection? He agreed with Frost, something was amiss. Looking up at Frost, he replied with a soft tone.* I am not a man for the studies of biology, but the best guess I could give is that perhaps there is something he needs in order to keep his body structure in the correct manner... or perhaps Ignis has a different type of virus. One that perhaps changes his body structure? *Barns shot in the dark on his last proposal. He had heard of how cells could be changed to form something new, but this technology was rare and still very unstable. Perhaps, Frost would have a better guess as to the other illness of Ignis.* |

A very good assumption Mister Barns. Something that changes the body's structure. He looked over at the Russian/ American again with a questioning gaze as he continued, moving a little closer to the alien's body and motioning for Barns to look closer also. He pointed out the coloration of the skin and its rough, rippled texture. The thing about studying creatures from other worlds is the simple fact that we don't know what they're suppose to look like. But I have a hunch that his flesh is far too rough, and far too mottled in coloration to be healthy. He looked at Barns, Making eye contact with him while slipping his hand into his jacket, and speaking further about his thoughts. Sun exposure, like someone's been out on the beach too long. What do you think? With his exposed hand, he reached forward to touch the shoulder of the Zephyar, pointing out a patch of particularly rough, yet tough looking skin. Simultaneously he withdrew his other hand, which was between Barns and himself. A small, hopefully unseen needle forced its way through his fingers and made to enter the Russian's sleeve, and ultimately his arm, where a quick working sedative would hopefully knock the man out well before he had time to react in a violent manner. And hopefully Kat wouldn't be too startled. |

*Barns leaned closer to study the flesh more. Frost did have a point that the flesh had been exposed to something. Wait.. Could it have been?- Barns' thoughts were cut as he felt a small pain from his right arm. He quickly turned to Frost with a menacing face while clutching his arm. As he turned, he batted away Frost's arm to get the needle away, but he already knew whatever had been in that needle was in his system. Quickly, his vision started to blur and his knees began to buckle. As his knees hit the floor he mumbled one last thing before passing out.* Darn.. you.. Frost.. *And Barns world went black as his face met the hard floor. * |

It has been absolutely worth the risk. As Barns slipped to the floor, Frost heard the startled gasp of Kat's surprise. And he turned to her with the thinnest of smiles. Her wide eyed expression showed just how shocked she was, and her wordlessness was one thing he valued about her. She was easy to frighten into submition. The last thing we want is a lot of government agents crawling all over our lab Kat. He said, approaching her slowly, hands out, as if to reassure her. She took a step back and Frost's eyes narrowed slightly. It took a while, and it was shaky when heard, but finally the Asian medic spoke. But we're doing nothing illegal..... right? She felt the doctor's hands lightly trip her shoulders and she looked at him with her dark almond shaped eyes. She was pleading with him to tell her she was right. She didn't want to consider the implications if Frost was actually doing something he shouldn't be doing. Because, Kat had seen him bring near dieing people back to life. That kind of talent should only be used for good, and should never be locked up in a prison cell. But her fears weren't sated as she heard his reply. Try to understand Kat. What the government says, and what I know will help people, might not always add up. The limitations they put on our research is costing people their lives, daily. If there's anything questionable I do, it is only because I care about the health and lives of people like you, and even people like him. He said, jerking his head over toward the sedated Alien, bound to the metallic table. He felt the woman struggle, and he settled his eyes on her, eyes that hardened. I know you're not comfortable, but I really need you to work with me on this. He pulled her a bit closer and looked firmly into her eyes, tightening his hold on her arms. But Mister Frost.... That was all the answer he needed to understand that he could no longer trust the girl. The same drug injected into Barns only a few moments ago, found its way into Kat's own body, through a needle to the lower left shoulder blade, and her words became babbling nonsense as she withered against him. I'm sorry Kat. You really were a good student. He said, almost sadly as he held her gently, and then set about quickly dealing with the two unconscious humans, before returning to Ignis' side. His patient was still sick after all. With a muffled cry and startled gasp, Kat awoke violently and sat up, jerking her head from side to side. Her wide, frantic eyes took in as much detail as she could, and she realized to her horror, that she was sitting in a small cinder block room, on a cold, concrete floor. Was this the basement? Puddles were here and there outside her partition. A barred door was before her and beyond that, a larger room, littered with a few unused materials, old medical equipment, and a few dormant computer monitors. What bothered her the most was the prison like feel of the tiny room she was in, and the very dim lighting. She felt far too dizzy to stand up, and her head was pounding. Shivering from the cold floor, she attempted to figure out how long she'd been unconscious, and fought to recall what had happened just before that. It all came back to her in a crashing wave. Being snatched literally off the street, Aiding a ...creature with a deadly case of influenza, Andrew frost, The needle, Mister Barns...Mister Barns! Where was he? She blinked a few times, trying to get her sight adjusted to the darker surroundings. Shakily, she called out to see if anyone else was in the area. Hello?.... Is ....is anyone there? And Barns would find himself waking up in the same position, save for the fact that his small partition, or to put it bluntly, cell, was beside Kat's own, a cinder block wall between them. But the front of the cells were opened, only obscured by strong barred doors. Sound would travel freely. |

A throbbing sensation pounded in Barns' head, yet parts of his body felt numb. He took in a sharp breath as his eyes slowly opened. The world around him was dark and blurry, but slowly his vision started to focus. His hands felt the cold hard floor of concrete of his cell as he tried to prop himself up against a nearby wall. While he body was still recovering, he mind thought back what had happened last. He remembered looking at some Alien and... Frost. Frost had struck him with a needle. That's how he got into the cell he was currently occupying. Barns shook his head as he sensations began to clear. He looked around in his surroundings seeing that he was in a cell probably in some basement. He looked at the door which of course had iron bars, but before he could observe any further, he heard a voice. It was timid, soft, and filled with a bit of fear. Barns recognized the voice? Who was it again? That's right, Kat, the Asian nurse. She must have been put away as well despite have such an apparent connection to Frost. Barns took a deep breath and spoke. You, have a strange Doctor, Kat, who follows a very strange profession. He paused for a moment standing up and walked to his cell door. So, where exactly are we? Barns tapped the cell door noticing how thick and strong it was. I can tell you right now that we won't be escaping anytime soon. He knew Frost would have to do something with him. Barns was part of the military, an officer at that. If he didn't show up or report in sometime tomorrow, they would come looking for him. At the moment, his options of escape were practically none, nevertheless, he continued to observe his surroundings hoping for a means of escape. |

As the situation began to sink in, Kat began becomming more and more frantic. Slowly she stood to her feet, and shakily walked over to the bars, wrapping her fingers around the cold metal and letting the chillness seep into her body, shivering at the sensation. Whether it was from the chill or her own fear was difficult to decide. As Barns spoke, she shook her head, leaning forward and resting her forehead on the bars with a quavering sigh. I'm so sorry Mister Barns... I had no idea this was going to happen. I didn't want you caught up in it. By the end of her words, it was clear that her vocal structure was braking down from the very real sensation of tears working their way from her eyes and down her cheeks. She squeezed her eyes closed again and gripped the bars more firmly. I thought I knew him, at least to a degree... But I...I don't ask a lot of questions. I don't go looking into things I shouldn't.... I don't like secrets, and I especially don't like having them. It was more of a struggle to keep her words understandable. By this point she'd sat on the ground, and was now pressed up against the bars, huddled against them as if her nearness would prod them to open. It was a fruitless effort however and Kat knew it. I....I think....we're in the ... basement. I .... I guess we'll know what happens when Mister Frost comes back.... or someone comes looking for us. She decided to stop talking. The muffled sobs were obscuring her speech too much by now. She only sat there, gripping the bars with too much force for comfort. She hoped someone would come soon. She was beginning to feel claustrophobic. Once returning to his work, Frost made sure the Alien was well restrained, cuffing the beings wrists and ankles to the metal medical table. Soon it would be time to wake him. He checked the monitors once more to make sure the bacteria was under control, and then paused. Soon he would have to go back down stares to see his two....acquaintances. Barns would have to be drugged so that he forgot this whole issue, and Frost could let him go. Kat was the most complicated problem. She couldn't forget so many years of training, and something told him that she wouldn't forget what he'd told her just before knocking her unconscious the first time. She would have to be dealt with...perhaps in the most drastic of ways. And he actually didn't like thinking about that too much. Thankfully something snapped him back into reality. The creature had begone to stir. Frost watched with intensity as the strange eyes of the being opened and he peered around. His clawed fingers flexed, and as he realized he was bound, he thrashed a bit. Frost himself figured he best speak to the creature before it injured itself further. Relax. You're safe here, and you're recovering...slowly but surely. He spoke as calmly as he could, as he turned and got a better look at the creature. Can you understand me? Of course I can understand you, imbecile. The growled response had some resemblance of crushed rock, broken stone. It was a slurred speech, what with sedation wearing off. And with his already heavily accented voice, it might be difficult to understand him. What ever the case, he understood the doctor quite clearly. And he understood another very important fact. He had been restrained. The fact almost made the alien chuckle. To think, anyone could restrain a Zephyar was preposterous! Another urge took him. He wished to teleport out of thees bonds and attack this being. But best to make the doctor think he was winning...at least for now. Looking around, Ignis saw a distinct lack of the female medic, or her male protector anywhere. He'd wanted to remain as invisible as possible, but apparently she didn't wish the same thing. Anger boiled within him. That was another person on his list he had to kill. He could leave no trails or evidence behind. But the nurse seemed frightened of him. Ignis wasn't the best judge of character, he didn't feel like she would bring another person into this whole mess. Coughing again, he thought about how Barns would handle the situation. For the girl's own safety, and lack of knowledge of his unearthly abilities, the agent wouldn't have done anything either. Both of them were tasked with keeping the people of this world, or nation safe. There was only one other explanation. Where is the girl? The man? Those that brought me here? He asked pointedly. Leaning his head to the side he coughed a few times and closed his eyes for a brief moment. He then snapped his expression back to Frost, glaring at him, and speaking much more clearly at the Doctor's silence. I asked you a question Human! Answer me! That's not really for you to know, and your loud voice won't sway me. Frost said in an oily, almost soothing tone. The smile on his face was strange and the look in his eye was knowing, arrogant even. Shaking his head, he turned his back on the creature to ready another needle. You see, You're not really in a position to threaten me. No... Ignis muttered, as if disappointed in himself for even thinking of such a notion. With a heavy sigh, ending in a few coughs, he closed his eyes... And now? He asked as he moved. Quickly, once his molecules reformed themselves behind Frost, he moved his right arm around the doctor's chest, clamping down hard on his opposite shoulder with his sharp clawed fingers. Ignis didn't have his weapons right now, but that was alright. He had himself. His other hand rested at the doctor's left side, clawed fingertips just slightly pressing against his side, ready to cleave him opened at any false move. His voice had been a hushed whisper, aimed directly into the human's ear, and even now, the whisper continued. I'll ask you once more, deaf one. Where are the two who brought me here? |

Barns sighed. Kat was so innocent from all of this. She deserved a better life not entangled in the situation they currently faced. He looked around trying to find anything useful or anything in reach. The good doctor however kept this it mind as nothing seemed to be of any use or withing reach. All Barns had was a barred door, a solid wall, some water puddles here and there, and a scared nurse. And to think he was enjoying his day off... He sat down against the wall that was adjacent to Kat's cell hearing her muffled sobs coming through. He didn't know what to say since he did not know if they were going to be "Ok" or not. It was such a strange situation. Clearing his throat, he tried his best to get her mind off the current situation. So, Kat, can you tell me a bit about yourself? I suppose a smart woman like you figured that I'm Russian. An American Russian at that. Isn't that a bit strange? He ended with a chuckle but didn't know if this would work or not. He wasn't used to this sort of situation. Well, he figured that since the day had become strange enough, then perhaps it had run out of surprises by now...hopefully. |

For a moment, Barns' question caught Kat off guard rather quickly. Why would it be strange for him to have both American and Russian heritage? She recalled that the US and Russia still didn't have the best of a relationship with eachother. Maybe that was what eh was getting at. But why discuss something like that at a time like this. She shook her head and let her back slide down the wall behind her. For a long silent moment she sat there almost dejectedly, just waiting on something important to happen. But again the guilt resurfaced. It wasn't his fault she'd been dragged into this.... but it was her fault he was here. With a deep breath she closed her eyes and again spoke, as if ignoring his question. I'm really sorry this happened... I should have been more careful I guess. But then a thought hit her. Her eyes flew opened and she looked upwards for a moment, speaking in a worried tone. Mister Barns.....what .... what do you think Frost is going to do with Ignis? I've never seen him work on a patient .... like that. And, if just knowing about it like we did, made him lock us away... I'm afraid for Ignis' safety. He was still unconscious....what if Frost .... like... I don't know... She didn't want to say what was really on her mind. And she had to come up with a reason as to why it was absurd for it to happen. Pursing her lips she added in a falsely firm voice. But he's a doctor... I...I don't think it's in him to ....purposefully harm a patient.... But even then, she wasn't so sure. A few moments later, as if on cue, the door at the end of the room, probably leading upstairs, was literally thrown from its hinges as a powerful force rammed squarely into it. That powerful something was Ignis' foot. The tall gray alien walked nonchalantly into the room, squinting his crimson eyes to get them use to the dimmer lighting. It might have been a relieving site to the two captive...if it weren't for the nearly unconscious form of Frost being dragged carelessly behind the Zephyar. The doctor's eyes opened slowly and he narrowed them on the creature now dragging him by his shirt collar. He snapped in an annoyed tone. This is outrageous! What is the meaning --- He never got a chance to finish his statement. Ignis' grip tightened on the man's clothing and his shoulder swung his arm around in a powerful throw that sent Frost hurling toward the opposite wall. The thud that resounded afterward was testament to just how far the alien could throw a human body. Be silent you pathetic, deceptive creature. Ignis hissed as he turned toward the two cells Kat and Barns were now being held in. Though he was up and walking with out the perpetual coughing, his breath was still a bit ragged, and his chest moved with some noticeable strain. But it was nothing like it had been. I would hope you had nothing to do with this worthless trickster intervening. He doesn't seem like the trustworthy type. As if knowing exactly what was behind him, the large alien whirled around and peered at the Doctor, now struggling to make his way toward the broken door. Don't. Move. And that stopped Frost cold. Why the simple command had done so was still beyond the two imprisoned. Kat had experienced Ignis' ability to move rapidly. Perhaps she'd recall. With an almost regretful smile on his wrinkled, tough face Ignis spoke, the drugs no longer obscuring his accented speech. Even in my culture it is customary to thank someone for saving your life...so Thank you. He sighed slightly and narrowed his eyes. I wish I could do more to show the truth of my words...but I'm afraid I can't allow the knowledge of my existence to be known....by anyone. So, now that I have you three all together, I suppose my last show of thanks will be to end you quickly and painlessly... Forgive me. As if the floor of the cell had dropped out from under her, Kat shot to her feet quickly and gripped the bars of the cell with wide, frightened eyes. But...Ignis..... W-why? She stammered, her tanned face draining of color, like her heart began to drain into the bottom of her stomach. She felt sick. The room started to spin and out of fear of passing out, she clinched onto the bars so tightly that her knuckles turned white. Her wide, terror stricken eyes never left that of the alien's, and she almost wanted Barns some how in reach so that she'd have someone she could remotely trust to cling to....but there was no one, nothing... |

*Barns shook his head as Kat started to speak. His small diversion did not work, but he would listen to her worries. He leaned back and closed his eyes are he could hear her voice stutter and waver. She began to fully doubt Frost's behavior. Her mind led her to a very important question. She essentially asked :"How far would Frost go?" Barns knew exactly what Frost would do. He would keep his "patient" alive as much as possible. He would want to see exactly what made this guy tick. What abilities he could have. What types of beneficial organs could be harvested. The list would be limitless. Frost would be cautious, but after what Barns had seen the injured creature do, he doubt Frost knew what he was getting into. With a sigh, he replied to Kat.* If you must know my opinion, I believe Frost will see what make Ignis tick. His eyes remind me of when techies get a hold of a new piece of equipment. They'll try to keep it in a state where it can always run, but they will poke and prod as much as possible to understand it. Frost is going to do the same thing. He'll keep Ignis alive as long as Ignis serves a scientific purpose. Don't know exactly what he will do with Ignis after that... probably keep him as a pet. *He gave a sigh and continued.* Though, after what you and I witness of Ignis, I have a feeling Frost doesn't know what he is getting into. *Barns fell silent hoping that this answered her question... But as he was just about to speak again, the door suddenly blew open. It was sent flying down into the room. Barns stood up and went up to the bars expecting the only one who could do that... Ignis. Well, Ignis did come, but not without Frost being dragged and thrown about like a bean bag. All Barns could do was watch the insanity happen, though it did put a smile on his face to see Frost in such a state. But of course, Ignis wasn't going to be their savior, no. He was going to be their executioner. Kat immediately broke down, the poor woman. Asking why Ignis was doing this; however, Barns took a step forward and tried to reason with the creature. Surely, he had a better heart than this.* Ignis, look... Kat and I were not with Frost. At least let Kat go. She doesn't deserve this. She was trying to help you! *It was then Barns noticed the state of Ignis. He still was not fully recovered... and possibly still needed medical attention.* And... you still need her help... Don't you? *Barns looked critically at Ignis. He knew Ignis wasn't to be trifled with, but he still wanted Ignis to know the seriousness of his words.* |

Which is why I plan on killing her quickly. After that, I assume she might forgive me. Ignis retorted quickly. He didn't have time for this. He needed to get off this infected planet before something else got a hold of him and more people were brought into the net of mortality. Ignis never liked killing. It was just a part of his life, to take others'. It was part of being a Zephyar....part of being one of the nine. At the woman's increased breathing and muffled sobbs, the large alien sighed and looked at her. At least he didn't have to be insensitive about it. Believe me, if there was any other way, I would take it. But you were the only one who could save me....... and I must survive.... I must survive... He whispered under his breath, almost as if to himself a second time. His eyes glazed over for a few moments and he looked down at his feet. After a second he blinked, shaking his head and peering back at the two imprisoned humans before him. Frost was well unconscious. Barns would be the most difficult to take down, and he might be brought into a more dangerous state if he watched or heard the medic's demise. He would be the first to die. And it would be a swift end. Dropping the black cloak that concealed his weapons, the several sheathed knives and other various blades littering his body, glinted menacingly in the dimmed lighting. Letting out a breath, he closed his eyes, concentrating on an object directly behind Barn's present position, a puddle. The pin lighting overhead cast small white dots on it's glassy mirror like surface. It rippled once, twice. He was about to project his very being to that spot when he heard something that broke all concentration. Ignis! Ignis wait! She'd broken through her tears and now, the Asian medic was gripping the bars and peering out of them with such intensity, one would question if she were the same woman or not. You don't want to kill anybody... Barns is right. You're not done with your medication. If you leave now, the influenza will only cone back, and stronger the next time. Good, He'd turned to look at her. She had the creature's attention now. Her eyes locked with his slightly angered red ones and she almost flinched away from them. But this was no time for fear. She had to remain steadfast now. One waver would kill them, one misplaced breath. She attempted to keep her eyes away from the impressive array of weaponry he had. Nothing attached to him, or even himself, looked inviting. To her, he was the picture of death... but not even death could run from what had gotten a hold of him. I'd only give you about a week to live after even this. It's a very...very powerful sickness...and not even you can run from sickness Ignis. You know I'm right. Clinching his teeth, the being snarled softly in his throat as he narrowed his eyes on the human who dare question him. She spoke the truth of course, but she spoke it in such a belittling way. There was no way out of it, and she was absolutely right. He could still feel his chest tightening up. What they had done stopped the horrid coughing, but it had not fully healed the damage. And Ignis knew that bacteria tended to reproduce rapidly. And his immune system wasn't up to the fight. Then you will remain. He said flatly, and once more set his eyes on Barns. Yet again her voice cut through the space between himself and the cells. I ....won't help you unless you let Mister Barns go...and....and Doctor Frost. Now the stammer came out in her voice. She was actually commanding this creature....this powerful looking picture of death. But...he had to abode by her rules if he wanted to survive, and he seemed rather abnormally preoccupied by that concept. She supposed that anyone afflicted by a life threatening illness woudl be also, but there was something off about him. She couldn't think about that right now as she peered back at him, attempting not to look away. You do know that if you won't continue to treat me, I'll merely take your life after the others. Ignis snapped back, clearly annoyed by the situation. He stalked forward and looked down into the woman's dark almond shaped eyes with a sinister glare. Are you willing to risk that?.... I'm sure I can find another medic. One... one that will treat something like you? She stuttered, swallowing the lump in her throat as she looked up his much taller figure. Her eyes widened slightly and she took in a breath, pursing her lips together. You....you said yourself that I was....the only one who could help you... so..... yes. I would risk it. What on earth was she doing? She was basically putting her life on the line for someone she hardly knew, and for a crazed doctor who was willing to put her out and put her away at the drop of a hat. What would her mother think? Well this was what she got for being late to work she supposed. But as if to affirm what she was saying, she tearfully nodded up at the alien, attempting to put a firm face on her expression. And it wasn't working very well. But she did indeed mean what she said. There was no denying that. Very well. Ignis hissed through clinched teeth and closed his eyes. They shall live, and you will fully cure me. Opening his eyes, he set their crimson selves on the slightly conscious form of Frost for a moment and growled deep in his chest. You will not permit me to end this deceptive one? He's done nothing but use you. The Zephyar said, almost pleadingly. The less baggage he had to cart off this rock, the better. Her responce was surprising and crafty. Isn't that what you're doing to me, Mister Ignis? Kat said, softly, regaining some of her confidence at her small victory. No, Frost lives. Ignis narrowed his eyes on the hardly moving man and whirled around on his heel with a hard look. She would only live until he was cured. After that, it was no longer safe to have mercy on her. All of them were too smart to be left alive. This event had been too traumatic to them for anyone he could get a hold of to erase their memories....and even then, he could trust none of them. My problem still remains. Because I cannot allow those who know of my existence to roam free, and because I can no longer end you, then I will take you with me. He gave Barns and Kat a firm, unwavering look as he finished. I hope that is satisfactory, because it is not negotiable. |

*Barns' eyes widened as his words did not change Ignis' thoughts. At this point, Kat needed to step in and turn this around, but Barns' had little hope in that. Thus far she had been mostly inward and confused. She barely had enough courage to take Ignis in to heal him. Now, Kat was faced with death. Humans either fight or flight in these situations, and Barns hoped she fought. The glint of weapons struck Barns' eyes, and his heart started to race. The creature before him was about to slaughter them all. He slowly stepped back from the bars and prepared for the worst. But suddenly he heard a voice from the adjacent cell and he breathed out a sigh of relief. Kat was fighting back. He could hear the fierceness in her voice as she commanded Ignis to stop. Ignis, even with all his might, stopped his motions to hear the Asian medic speak. The two went back and forth to decide the fate of those here. Barns at this point stepped forward to the bars to see them both. He could see the aggravation from Ignis and the fire from Kat's eyes. This woman was not the same person that she was before. No, this was who Kat truly was, but Barns knew that she had this side of her bottled up for some time. Finally, the decision was made, all of them would live, but they would have to go with Ignis. Personally, Barns would have opted for Frost to be squashed just as Ignis expressed. He didn't know why Kat would want to keep him alive, but then again, Kat was a softer spirit despite the fire she just displayed. Barns looked back at Ignis and gave a nod* Indeed that is... Now, since Frosty is knocked out, could you get us out of these cells perhaps? *If Kat could see his face, she would see eyes of thanks looking at her. Barns was proud of the woman to step up to such a beast as Ignis. For that, she would forever have his respect. But Barns knew that he couldn't totally let his guard down. Ignis was a very crafty creature, and with Frost traveling with them, anything could happen. For now, he will be thankful for having his life saved, and moved forward from there.* |

Ignis growled again, nodding his head at Barns' words. Stalking over to Frost's hardly moving form, he stooped, gripped the man by the collar of his shirt and yanked him off of the ground, and off of his feet. Looking into his blurry eyes for a moment, the Zephyar turned his head to look at Barns and actually reply to him. Momentarily. He said, once more peering at Frost in his unyielding grasp. The human doctor opened his mouth to say something, but before a sound was made, the two vanished in fiery red outline and were no more. A cold, empty silence was left in their wake. Kat leaped to the bars again and peered out for a long moment before her body once more fell to a seating position, apparently her energy being spent on standing boldly before such a creature. He....He's gone....Mister Barns, Ignis and ...Doctor Frost are gone..... She was absolutely shocked by the happenings. She recalled him grabbing her and then appearing in a completely different place only seconds later, but this was different. They were no where in sight. After a moment she began to tremble. He's left us... here to die in thees cells... or.... maybe someone will come find us, and we can go home.... She muttered halfheartedly, and then perked up just a bit. But... He...can't go with out being treated. Doctor Frost could treat him...but not with out the medical supplies here....he has to come back for us. But after that.... She paused again, chewing on her lower lip and gripping the bars before her. After that, where do you suppose he'll take us? Where do you think he comes from... and why do you think he was even here? She asked curiously, yet timidly. She knew it was a lot of questions at once, but she'd rather ask Barns, even if he didn't know all the answers, than Ignis, who certainly knew them. She felt safer with Barns now than any of the others...which was odd considering he was the one she knew the least about. |

Barns watched as Ignis picked up the doctor and vanish from his sight. No doubt he was going to take them away one at a time for Ignis' own health and security. No doubt it takes some strength to disappear like that. Barns figured it was done by some advanced technology or possibly something genetic. If it was something else, he did not know what it would be. He sat back down as he heard Kat's voice became softer once more. This was probably because of putting up so much courage against Ignis, but Barns was glad of it. He listened carefully to her barrage of questions. They were timidly spoken, though full of concern. His eyes set peacefully on the wall across from him and he replied calmly. Kat, he hasn't left us, that is for certain. More than likely he will be taking us one at a time. I have a feeling that his...trick takes some energy out of him.He made a soft sigh before lowering his head and closing his eyes.As far as to where he is taking us, I do not have the slightest idea. Well, somewhere he knows it will be safe. No doubt he will be staying in this area for much longer. Right now, we are safe... it is our future that I am most concerned about. Barns fell silent thinking of the coming future when Ignis would be fully healed. He wouldn't have much of a use for any of them by then. He would probably kill them all in one fell swoop, and be on his merry way. Until then, Barns would have to start planning a way to get out of this situation. At the least, he wanted Kat to escape. Frost would be his lowest priority. His own life he would dedicate to protecting Kat. This would be a waiting a game and waiting for the right time to strike. |

One at a time? Kat whispered as she nodded in understanding to Barns's words. He knew about as much as she did when it came to where Ignis would be taking them. For a moment, she thought him some kind of supernatural being, a demon. Maybe they would be going to some other country, or somewhere deep below the earth...or even another realm. The thought made her shiver and draw her legs closer to her chest. My mother use to tell my brother and me stories about creatures like that... Back then...when things were simpler...it was fun to be frightened. She closed her eyes, thinking about her mother and how sick she had become. It was one reason Kat had begone studying medicine, and now...now she would have to leave her mother behind to face the ever encroaching illness alone, with out her. The thought brought tears to her eyes. But at the end of the story, the hero always won and the story never had a bitter ending. She took in a deep breath and shook her head, chiding herself for her emotional outburst. She was 25 for crying out loud, and this situation had gotten her acting like a frightened little child. But who wouldn't be...if faced with a demon. I guess real life isn't like that Mister Barns... Though this hardly seems like reality. She bit her lower lip, calming down a little as she did so. Closing her eyes, she used her sleeve to wipe the tears away and sighed, a new, frightening question coming to her mind. She asked it quietly....timidly. Who do you think he'll take next? She whispered softly. After several minutes of silence from Kat, a pulse of energy might stir the hairs on Barn's neck as the figure of Ignis appeared behind him. Hopefully, before the human had time to turn around, Ignis would have him by the back of the shoulders, and both would be gone from the room. The sensation would quickly be different than simply blinking here and there, for Barns was being taken apart atom by atom, and would, within milliseconds, be put back together in another location. That other location was yet another smallish room, this one walled and floored with seamless white metal paneling. The trek through quantum space would probably leave Barns dizzy and tingly feeling, if not pained somewhat from the jump. At least...what was how it left Frost. The man was leaning against the wall in the far corner, still shivering from the experience. His strange eyes had jerked to the location as soon as the two appeared, and he seemed to shrink away from the Alien and his captive. Ignis released Barns and quickly took a step back. He continued walking backwards, keeping the two ever within his crimson sight as he passed through the threshold and spoke. I shall return shortly with the girl. Attempting to escape will not bode well for you. As he spoke this, he pressed a series of buttons on a control panel outside the room, and a glass door slid shut before him, clocking the exit to the room, and leaving the two trapped within. With that being accomplished, Ignis folded his arms and vanished again, in the same fiery outline as before. Frost brought his eyes to rest on Barns once more as he spoke, rather urgently. Better sit down, before you black out. I made that mistake. He looked around now at the white walled room, noting the lack of a clear light source. Perhaps the panels themselves gave off a glow, but Frost could not tell. The whole place was eerie, and otherworldly, but for some reason, it brought a strange grin to cross the doctor's face. Do you realize where we are? He suddenly asked, putting a hand on the wall beside him and pointing at the ridged glass door before them. It's fantastic! We are on board an alien spacecraft. There's no other explanation for it, ha ha! As dire as the situation might seem, Frost seemed rather beside himself with excitement. With a sigh, he leaned back against the wall again, peering up at the ceiling, smiling contentedly. |

*Barns listened to Kat's words as she started to calm down. He thought about her words of fantasy tales that resulted in the hero always winning in the end. In Barns' mind he knew this wasn't always true. The hero didn't always win in every tale, but then again, it would eventually work out even in reality. Kat agreed with him as he thought this through saying that the heroes don't always win in reality... Then again, the events surrounding them seemed not of reality. Aliens, mad scientist, and strange abilities seemed right out of a science fiction novel. As the room fell to silence once more, Barns decided to speak back.* Kat, I'm not sure of all the details that will transpire... but. *Before Barns could finish, a strong grip held his shoulders and a strange sensation overwhelmed him. Barns didn't struggle as he knew this was Ignis taking him away to wherever they are going to be held next. What he wasn't prepared for was the deconstruction of his body and have it assimilate moments later. The words of Ignis seem to slur in his ears as the Russian immediately went to the floor from dizziness. His gaze looked upon the eyes of Ignis as they slowly moved away and eventually vanished from the room. The Russian shook his head and leaned against a wall now hearing the frantic voice of the scientist. Frost explained that they must be on an alien spaceship. At first, Barns shook his head, but as he looked around the room, the more he was convinced the Frost was right. He looked up at Frost and spoke softly.* Even with your crazy ideas, Frost, I'm going to have to agree with you. I wonder where on earth Ignis' ship is located. I know the... teleportation, I suppose that is what you can call it, was short, but I wonder what the range of his ability is. Barns had to figure this out for a future escape. For all he knew, they could be deep underground in a different country. Giving the fact there weren't any windows in the room, Barns would have to just wait for a more opportune moment to gather this unknown information. |
