Harma glanced around as she entered the busy market of Delaria. The people there were all focused on their on business, ready to pounce on the best bargain they could find. A new shipment had been delivered that day, and the milling crowds were even thicker than usual. Harma knew it was useless to try and make a way through the crowds, but she had to reach her destination by the appointed time, so she slipped into a back alley and melted into the shadows.

Finally, the man had stopped. Malachi followed suite, standing still with folded arms. His eyes glanced between the others now moving away from the thought-to-be structurally unstable building, and this left Gustave exposed, for the most part.

All Malachi need do now was make his advance, lock the man down with telekinesis and take those memories of himself away. At least the frightened being wouldn't have anything to worry about now. Reaching out his hand, Malachi prepared to clinch his fist and bring all of reality down on the unsuspecting Gustave. But something happened first.

Was that...a word? A telepathically projected word? Perhaps this human looking man wasn't as aloof as he once thought. It was about time someone started a conversation with him in this world. Eagerly, he responded, directing his comment to Gustave's mind. Though, he failed to reveal himself physically to the man.

<<Greetings! I apologize for startling you, but I seem to find myself trapped here. I just have a few questions for you. Perhaps you can help me ... better understand my predicament.>>

The goat bleated softly and tilted it's head, observing Gustave with keen interest. Maybe he had some food!

The goat stared at Gustave. Gustave stared back a the goat.

Greetings! I apologize for startling you, but I seem to find myself trapped here. I just have a few questions for you. Perhaps you can help me ... better understand my predicament.

Gustave winced as the voice in his head reminded him of just the way Lady Kerrigan and Chanka had been communicating with him of late... but this voice was a man's, and it seemed much friendlier than the women had been. Gustave glanced around the immediate area. Lest anyone become suspicious of a man simply staring at a goat, Gustave leaned over the short fence and beckoned to the trapped animal, making soothing noises at it till it sauntered over to his hand.

Where do you hail from, goat? Has someone brought you here against your will? Normally, Gustave would not consider himself the adventuresome type--but perhaps getting the Skystone from Lady Kerrigan had bolstered his confidence, even just a little bit. Enough to rescue a telepathic goat, anyway.

Then Gustave noticed something odd. two wobbly-legged younglings tottered after the fat old goat--and as it stood, they began to suck. This was a female goat... then who was the man speaking in his head?

Malachi blinked. The man was speaking with the goat? Did he....oh, this was amusing. Apparently Gustave thought his telepathic messages had originated from the animal. When he finally came to reality and started looking around, the Calvadorian had no other choice but to truly reveal himself.

Malachi stepped into the small open area and removed his brown hood, revealing his shaven head and a full view of his tanned face and blue eyes.

<<I apologize for the confusion. My name is Malachi. It is an honor to meet you.>>

He inclined his head slightly before glancing about, as if looking for anyone watching. Perhaps he didn't need to erase Gustave's memories at all. Perhaps the man would remain harmless. Malachi sure hoped so.

Gustave whirled around at the sudden appearance of a man from the milling crowd. The man tilted his head at him, and Gustave suddenly lost all interest in the stupid goat in favor of the telepath. Did this corner of his comfortable little world naturally have people that could read minds and speak to them?

"I--" for a moment, he forgot to speak. Just in time, Gustave closed his mouth and thought his words instead. I am Gustave; what is your predicament that you spoke of before? Has some magician made you her lapdog as well?

Malachi smirked slightly. This world certainly had it's own problems. He'd heard about magicians in stories and confused accounts of other creature's natural abilities. The unexplained was commonly referred to as magic, even where he came from. But to these people, Malachi found that the concept of the supernatural was very very real. However true it was, the Calvadorian saw no gain in insulting anyone here. He'd believe them until another truth presented itself.

<<You may speak aloud if it is more comfortable for you.>>

Malachi informed. Even though his race was one of silence, others often spoke to them vocally. He never found it odd or offensive, especially now, surrounded by so many voices both spoken and not.

<<I seam to have come here from very far away, and though I have learned that this city is called Delaria, and that it is independent from other kingdoms, I have learned little else.>>

He frowned, and looked off into the distance for a moment. His deep silvery blue eyes shined in thought.

<<I can't help but think I've been brought here for a reason.>>

Blinking, the Calvadorian looked back to Gustave and tilted his head.

<<You seam somewhat unhappy with your situation as well. Perhaps we might help each other? Who is this magician lording over you?>>

Gustave moved in closer to the man. It was awkward, for sure, but if he was going to speak aloud, he did not want to be overheard.
The Lady who has compelled me to do her bidding is a powerful enchantress from another world. I was just minding my own business one day, when a package arrived for me with a message, and ever since then, she's been watching my every move! Something was stolen from her and brought into this world, and she wants me to get it back. It's terrible! he wrung his hands and hung his head. Then, upon reflecting over the telepath's words, his eyes glimmered. Maybe... Maybe you can help me! he gasped. Of course! Here was the first person in all of Terrarum who did not think he was crazy for talking about magic! Malachi, he said softly, fingering the Skystone hidden under his tunic, Can you keep a secret?

The Calvadorian blinked his eyes, listening with interest to the man's words. Apparently he just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and this woman saw no problem with taking control of another person's life. Even though his people thrived on telepathic communication, and could be very capable of mental control over themselves and other races, the mind, culture, was to be held sacred. Certainly there existed Calvadorians who did not follow the social rules, but for the most part, his people valued individual will very highly. And this caused Malachi to feel protective over Gustave.

<<My people are very good at keeping secrets>> He answered truthfully. <<Because we cannot speak.>>

Malachi inclined his head respectfully. He wasn't joking. Calvadorians often were keepers of information. Even to each other, their mind was only as opened as they wanted it to be.
