New Member Guide Welcome to the Kingdom of the Celtic Lands! If you are a new member feel free to look at the information below, it should give you a good understanding of NationStates and the Celtic Lands region in general, be aware that this is under construction and things may be missing, if unsure about things read the One Stop Shop Rules, WA Rules, or the FAQ for NationStates featured in this forum. How do you use this forum? ![]() Go to the top of the forum screen, there should be some writing saying FAQ, click it and you will find some basic guides on how to use the forum, if you cannot find it click here. If you would like more information why we have a regional forum, click here. What is the Kingdom of the Celtic Lands all about? The Celtic Lands is a great region and is very welcoming, friendly and moderate in size so you can get involved in the region easier than monster regions with 100s or 1000s of nations where you can never be heard or noticed. Our military stance can go either way, but we favor diplomacy whenever possible. Nation Information Here is the NationStates control panel; you should explore its features on your NationStates page What are Issues? Issues are events that your nations government has to decide what to do about or ignore, but be careful as they affect your Economy, Civil Rights and Political Freedoms of your nation. Each issue shows different views of people in your nation, usually they represent people that want to affect your nation/s in a negative or positive way. This involves damaging or making the economy better e.g. banning pollution, lowering taxes for business, etc. Issues will also try to give the people better civil or political rights or restrict their civil or political rights e.g. give your people a 100% tax rate or allow men to enter female beauty contests, get rid of Political freedoms by causing a dictatorship or boost political freedoms and develop a democracy, etc. Can I control how many issues I get each day? Your nation should have a settings panel to change this (featured on the same bar that your 'issues' area is) Regional Controls Regional Control is basically just what it's name suggests: it allows you to have a more authoritative control over the region. It is only accessible if you are the founder or delegate (in a few instances) of a region. In regional control you have access to certain special tools. These include: the ability to edit the World Factbook Entry, the ability to password-protect your region, and the ability to eject and/or ban members of a region. If you are a delegate and you perform actions in regional control, you lose some of your regional influence. Founders can use these powers as they wish without losing any regional influence. Here is an example of Regional Control. Telegrams You should also notice the Telegram section on the left of your NationStates nation screen; below you can see what you can do with Telegrams: You can send messages to any nation in the game, but be careful not to put offensive material in them because the site Moderators could give you a warning or possibly even delete your nation depending on how offensive it is. When recruiting with telegrams, remember that you can only send 1 telegram to each nation. If a player complains to the moderators, prepare to be punished. What is the regional notice board and what can be done on it? You can leave a message for other nations in the region to see or converse with other nations, but do not do too much of this e.g. spamming the regional message board (RMB) with many messages each day. Of course if it is such an important event announcement for the region like an invasion of us (our founder has region control so we will not lose our region) then people might have a reason to spam the message of it within reason. World Assembly You should also notice the World Assembly section on the left of your NationStates nation screen; below you can see what you can do in the World Assembly: You can vote for Resolutions, but only Regional Delegates can vote for proposed Resolutions to come to vote; you should read the WA Rules featured in this forum. You can propose new laws or try to repeal laws once you have 2 Endorsements from other nations, you should look at the: But beware, if you get 2 telegram warnings from the Moderation Team it is a good idea to not propose or repeal any laws because once you get 3 telegram warnings you nation is banned from the WA for good. How in-active can you be? Once you have been in-active for 28 days, your nation is deleted; however, if you change your nation to vacation mode on your nation settings panel, the amount you can be inactive becomes 60 days. What is the dossier? It makes it easier as you can link to nations quickly and do not have to search for them. What is recruiting and how do I do it? Once you know the above and a bit more about the Celtic Lands through discussion with Celtic Lands leaders, you may learn of Recruiting opportunities. To recruit on the RMB of feeder regions, you move your nation (this you know how to do by now because you had to do it to arrive in the Celtic Lands and started in a feeder region when you joined NationStates). Then, once you are in their region, post a message (on the Celtic Lands forum there should be a topic on recruiting. Go there to learn more and find the recruiting message). Also (to recruit other nations for the Celtic Lands while not wasting that precious regional influence you would lose in moving) you can make a new puppet nation to use for recruiting. Remember, you can ONLY post ads in feeder regions. Check with the founder of the King if you would like to help recruit. YOU MAY ONLY POST ONE RECRUITMENT AD ON THE RMB OF A FEEDER REGION ONCE EVERY 24 HOURS You can telegram other nations (ONLY nations that are in feeder regions) with an invitation to join the Kingdom of the Celtic Lands; only one telegram per nation. If you do not do follow this or the other rules mentioned above you break the game rules (moderators of the Nationstates game can be harsh). If you have any further questions refer to the One Stop Shop Rules, WA Rules or the FAQ Rules featured in this forum. |
