Ludicolo![]() Type: Grass/Water HP: 80 - ATTACK: 70 - DEFENSE: 70 - SP. ATK: 90 - SP. DEF: 100 - SPEED: 70 Tier: OU (Overused) Trait(s); Swift Swim: Pokemon with this trait have double their usual Speed in the rain. Rain Dish: Pokemon with this trait recover slight amounts of HP every turn during rain. Moveset 1 ~ Leech Seed ~ Synthesis ~ Surf/Seismic Toss ~ Toxic @ Leftovers Slow and painful death set... You can toxishuffle to an extent by Toxicing one poke, then Seeding it, so it may switch out... When it does, there you go, two poisoned pokemon for your opponent. Surf works off of STAB to do constant damage while you're already sapping so much health. Synthesis off damage. Pity it has such low PP though. Seismic Toss to hit everything, but with it, Gengar will give this set problems. Moveset 2 Trait: Swift Swim ~ Rain Dance ~ Hydro Pump/Surf ~ Ice Beam ~ Hidden Power Grass/Giga Drain @ Levtovers/Petaya Berry Take advantage of Ludicolo's Swift Swim trait with this set. You can switch in on something like Swampert and Rain Dance. You'll be faster than everything else once you Rain Dance. Hydro Pump will be your main attacking move, because Rain Dance adds power. For that reason, Apply PP Ups is reccomended if you use this set Petaya could work here because you might have Rain Dance in effect when it activates, enabling you to attack with one final devastating blow before you die... But that's only if you get lucky. This set will sometimes catch your opponent off guard.Moveset 3 ~ Surf ~ Leech Seed ~ Rest ~ Sleep Talk @ Levtovers I used this set when I needed a sleep absorber on my team. You're walled by Celebi and other Grass types, but the set still works. Try to Leech Seed before the Rest so you have some recovery when your opponent is free to attack for two turns... This also nullifies status effects, which is another reason to try it. This thing lasts pretty long, but it doesnt' really do much during it's time in battle. Use it as a Special Sponge. Moveset 4 ~ Swords Dance ~ Focus Punch ~ Body Slam/Return ~ Hidden Power Ghost/Leech Seed @ Levtovers lol. Swords Dance is the only reason to even consider this set. SD, then try to hurt what you can... Body Slam for Para support. Leech Seed just for the recovery, or HP Ghost to do something to Gengar etc... Focus Punch when you predict a switch... No STAB... Try Breloom instead. Moveset 5 Trait: Rain Dish ~ Protect ~ Rain Dance ~ Leech Seed ~ Ice Beam/Giga Drain @ Leftovers Leech Seed the opposition, then Rain Dance. You'll be gaining a ton of HP back per turn. Now throw Protect into the mix. Nearly impossible to kill. Now think about Giga Draining as well. The only drawback of this move is it's PP, but play with PP Ups on, ok? Protect and Leech Seed only have 10 PP anyway. Or if your're into the Uber metagame, or monowater team, Kyogre it a great companion, and you have an extra attack space in place of Rain Dance. Thanks Psyber Kayos. EVs: Ludicolo is best used as a Sp Wall, so in most cases you should max the Sp Def stat with a Calm nature. You also want lots of HP on Set 1. If you have Surf you can put a few Sp Atk EVs on Ludi, but it's not really necessary. With Seismic Toss you can completely focus on defending stats. Surf and ST do about the same amount of damage when surf is neutral, but I like to hit pokes with Super Effective attacks, and a Special Sponge that can't counter Gengar isn't a good idea in my book. Anyway, for Set 2 you should max Sp Attack with a Modest Nature. Put enough EVs for a 198 Speed stat so you outspeed the base 130 pokes. I guess it's nice to OHKO Aerodactyl before he gets to attack, but your'e opponent probably won't walk right into that... The rest can go into HP or SpDef. Set 3 will work well with max HP and SpDef and Calm. Set 4 can have max Attack, and max Speed I guess. It's not really intended for use, but try it for fun. Set 5 will do fine with Set 1's spread. Other Options: Counter, Giga Drain, Razor Leaf if you like CHs, I definitely wouldn't reccomend Sunnybeaming, but it's there. Protect is awesome with a stalling set. EDIT: Added Protect based set. Counters: Salamence if you don't have Ice Beam, likewise for Crobat, Weezing, Venusaur and Gyrados are untouchable by Ludi and have STAB SE attacks... Heracross Megahorn is something to run from as well. Opinion: Ludicolo is one of my favorite pokemon because it's a great option over boring standard Blissey and Snorlax. It's 4x Water resist is cool to wall Suicune and other waters. I wish it had slightly more Special Defense, but base 100 is good enough with a +nature I guess. This is a unique pokemon that is very fun to use. I recommend using it. |

Petaya could work here because you might have Rain Dance in effect when it activates, enabling you to attack with one final devastating blow before you die... But that's only if you get lucky. This set will sometimes catch your opponent off guard.
