CB Tauros

Tauros (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) / Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Frustration/Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ghost]
- Sleep Talk/Iron Tail

Recommended Moves

The Standard Tauros. Frustration is your main STAB attack - which will be able to OHKO those who possess low defense and seriously hurt those who don't resist it. Double-Edge gives that extra power. But Tauros is not a fan of recoil, especially when lacking leftovers recovery. This is further heightened if a Sandstorm is in play, meaning wish support is a must. Earthquake will damage those steel/rock types that try to wall you and provides an extra option to OHKO electric types with. Hidden Power Ghost takes care of those ghost types, primarily Gengar which can easily be OHKOed. And finally, Sleep Talk is handy for absorbing sleep status, Iron Tail for KOing Aerodactyl or weakening Tyranitar.

Other Optional Moves

Of course, Return can be used instead of Frustration in all cases as they work identically. Hidden Power Steel is another option for Iron Tail if you want to have 100% accuracy - you do however sacrifice 30 base power. HP Bug can be used to OHKO those Celebis who think they can wall you. There is also an option for a special attack in this set. Thunder is never a good idea with low special attack, though you can get away with Blizzard and Fire Blast. Blizzard should 2HKO a Bulky Salamence which would otherwise be 3HKOed and does moderate damage to those who are ice weak. Fire Blast is probably the better option as it can 3HKO Skarmory and 2HKO Forretress. Regretably, they can do little else so it is recommended to stick to a physical attacking option.

Substitute Tauros

Tauros (M) @ Leftovers / Liechi Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) / Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ghost]

Recommended Moves

This Tauros provides a substitute which you can easily put up when predicting an opponent's switch. Leftovers recovery helps to aid it Tauros's Achilles Heel, as well as make Double-Edge more viable. Return/Frustration aren't really options as you are best with making the most of its much lesser attack compared with the Choice Band set. Earthquake works much the same as the CB set as does Hidden Power Ghost. However, the unfortunate thing is Hidden Power Ghost can no longer guarantee an OHKO on Gengar. This helps to lower this set's popularity and encourage people's choice of the more reliable CB set.

Other Optional Moves

Hidden Power Steel or Iron Tail can be used as a replace for Hidden Power Ghost which fails to OHKO Gengar. However with Earthquake, it is not always considered the best coverage. Again, special attacks can be used. Naughty Nature (heightens attack and lowers special defense) can be an option if you want a slight increase in special attack due to the availability of substitute to block special attacks. Fire Blast and Blizzard work much the same as the CB set. However in this case, you have less to predict - which is always a benefit.

Restalk Tauros

Tauros (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Atk / 192 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Double-Edge
- Hidden Power [Ghost]/Earthquake/Iron Tail
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Recommended Moves

Double-Edge provides the power; and lack of recovery causes no problem to this bull. Hidden Power Ghost hurts Ghosts such as Gengar and even Dusclops. This happens to be the only set which has the possibility of outstalling Dusclops. Still take into account pressure though. It should also be able to take 2 hits before getting KOed by Gengar as well. Evs can be invested into special defense to make this easier. Earthquake combined with a powerful normal attack always provides good coverage and this is no exception, Gengar is always a problem though. Iron Tail can be run but countering Gengar and Dusclops will become harder. Rest is for recovery and Sleep Talk allows the user to use moves while resting.

Other Optional Moves

Toxic could be used but it would limit the coverage of Tauros. Plus, they are more superior toxic users. Special Attacks can once more be used: Fire Blast, again, being the recommended option.

Evs

Attack should always be maxed out for the substitute and CB varieties. Jolly nature can be used to take advantage of its high speed - allowing it to match some of the fastest OU threats. Adamant adds more power though. It is recommended that speed be maxed out in the sweeping sets but it can be lowered to provide extra defenses for Tauros. HP can be increased appropriately and defense can be upped to take advantage of its high defensive capabilities. Special Defense can be added to provide more protection from special attackers.

Opinion

With decent attack and a STAB Frustration or Double-Edge, everyone should fear this beast. It should always be paired with Magneton to take out it's perhaps best counter: Skarmory. It's certainly fast and has intimidate to lower opponent's attacks. The sweeper sets can take lesser physical attacks and attack back but never risk getting hit by a powerful fighting attack unless you are fast enough and powerful enough to OHKO your foe. The restalk set can take a number of pretty powerful physical attacks and is a decent alternative set.

Counters

There's always three main pokemon that come to mind as counters: Forretress, Skarmory and Dusclops. Forretress and Skarmory completely wall any physical attacks Tauros can throw at them and Dusclops is not worried by a Hidden Power Ghost which it can take and then will-o-wisp Tauros after if need be. Steelix and Metagross can take any STAB Normal attacks and retaliate back but beware of the danger of Earthquake. And even Tyranitar can come in on a Frustration/Double-Edge and use substitute - followed by focus punch. Other than that, Steel/Rock types can take any normal attacks and flying types can come on any Earthquakes dealt.
