The i1's update is out..
I say its far to late as user's who still have this phone just do not know what there missing from other's that are out on the market..

My suggestion: Get another phone.. If you really must have PTT then get one for free from Moto/Nextel as the the long run for the i1 truly isent worth it.
But hey thats just me.. Your entitled to your own opinion

It's Feb 1, but I am still seeing the "Installation Unsuccessful" issue with Market app Updates... I hope they get this fixed soon!
Hey, wouldn't it be nice if the only way to fix our defective product was to give us an update to Android 2.1 or later?? :-)

Official 2.1 would be nice (at least 1.6) However having an official firmware update will proubley not happen..
Sense Cupcake was such an easy ROM to mod in the first place they might just stick with 1.5 and just keep adding enhancements within it to allow us i1 user's to install the newer apps that run 1.6+ (lets hope not but that is the reality of it all with PTT)

I have just called the mod who helps run the server's and they still assure us that all user's should be able to "UPDATE & INSTALL" any app within the market..
I told him that where still having issue's as we can download the apps just fine however they will not install..
He then turned his story around saying that I would have to speak to Moto in order to see when an update would come out for our phone's to allow such apps to be installed..
I also told him what the reason was for the newly shown apps (youtube,tmz,ect..) where as well on the market place if user's like us where not able to install them..
The mod just said that I would have to deal with Moto as this is a software issue within the phone and its "EASILY FIXED" through the phone's updates..

Guess where still SOL~

I'm hopeful that they can address this, but not at all confident. After all, didn't they just recently get spun off into a separate company (Motorola Mobility Holdings, Inc), and the reports I saw said that was accompanied by layoffs.

Heck, I thought that layoffs were supposed to be when you merged two companies and eliminated redundant workforce...

Hmmm... On the google support forum, there is at least one other user claiming to use Samsung with the same problem.

As for the merger:
I cant see this going any where.. Its like Whirlpool merging and laying off everyone..
Its just the deal with the recession and everyone is trying to keep there head above water for the years to come..
Wont effect the support center nor the deva's working within the Moto software..

As for the issue with installing apps:
As anyone tried downloading any apps that user's are having issue's with and using Astro (or another means of app installation) to see if its just an issue with the apps them selves or its in fact an issue with the market place..

My guess is thats its the later of the 2.. I believe with the new server push Android thought that Moto would in fact have the update done (as it should have been done on the 31 of Jan.) as that would make sense..
After all the newer apps that where never seen before are now seen sense a week after the official update..

So in the end I still believe its Moto's issue's.. We just need an update~

I'm looking forward to the 10th. I'm staying tuned to this thread for updates, though. Too much chatter on the other boards and you do a fantastic job of distilling this down! Thanks for the effort for our "low-end" phone. ;-)

Your very welcome & I agree on the over crowding on many forums as good info is just not seen other wise - I'm try to update the first post at least once a day if any news comes about..

If anyone else hears any legit news about the i1 (regardless being Sprint/Nextel or Boost) please make a posting (registration is required however)

Im happy your enjoying your stay,
Civic
