Posted on March 4th 2011I do apoligize for the lack of any news here guys..
Ive been out due to illness..
However I see we havent mist much as nothing is new in the life of the i1
There hasent been any updates or any fixed updates for those who updated to the "failed" Sprint update a few months ago now..
If anything comes up Ill letcha all know
Posted on Feb. 16th 2011Sorry guys but there just isent anything worth while to report..
I have given up on Moto though..
My i1 is posted on Craigslist now..
I will keep this thread update though and letcha know any upcoming or current new's thats going down..
One thing that I was told today is while the workers where tearing down my local iDen tower (yes there already tearing down a tower they just put up last month) is that by 2012 many tower's should down..
Not saying they will be torn down as they be used for more IS-95/CDMA2000 or GSM or what ever you call it networks..
However the "higher up" I spoke with said that by the end of 2012 tower's should not be in service except for those that are within city limits..
I couldn't chat long as I had my 1yr old son in the car and he was throwing a fit..
So ya thats at least some news I guess..
So I dont know what you guys with a 2 year agreement are going to do.. But you may want to question your carriers or Moto on what may happen if you no longer have service..
PLAN AHEAD PEOPLE
Posted on Feb. 15th 2011NOTHING NEW ON THE UPDATE FRONT
I have yet to get a replie back form my PM to "BOOST SUPPORT" on questions I had for him
(if your reading this Mr. "BOOST" please respond)
I had posted this on the Moto i1 Forums however I figured I would post it here as well as in my i1 GUIDE SECTION..
Motorola (on its support page) as a page called "FIND ANSWERS"...
With that said there are about 95 questions that Moto has answered and I thought it would only be right to post it with in the guide section..
Moto's i1 "FIND ANSWERS" page can be found here:

Posted on Feb. 14th 2011Nothing new to report..
Same old same old~
However what really pisses me off is thats its a month seance the update now..
Moto you could at least post an update out for the Sprint user's who did the failed update last month..
Just issue out an update with the original files (or what ever you had changed) so Sprint user's can at least enjoy what they have once again..(why do I care - because even though Im a Boost user where all in the i1 family in the end)COME ON MOTO AT LEAST FIX WHAT YOU BROKE

.............Nothing all that big is going down this weekend on the i1 front..
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS MAN MADE - PLEASE POST
IF YOUR PHONE IS A NEXTEL/SPRINT i1 OR A BOOST i1
IN ANY FORUMS YOU POST IN TOWARD's ISSUE'sthere is'ent much a difference between the 2 however if user's post about reboot cycles on an i1 then the issue may just be the defective Sprint update that was released last month..
Many user's do not realize this phone is on Nexte/Sprint as well as BOOST & there are slight differences between them.. So please make it a habit to post witch i1 you have as that will help user's help you further in the long run
.............User's are demanding answers from Moto & Google toward the ROM (via Off. Moto. Forum)
Nothing new on the bug fix update
Google is bring out a new Android Market App - theirs a catch though:
Its only for 1.6+ user's

"BOOST SUPPORT" from Howard Forums as now registered to this forum..
In short questions that anyone has toward the i1 or Boost for that matter is welcome on this thread now..
I will do my best to inform BOOST SUPPORT about any questions any user here may have for him.
I was rather steamed and sent "BOOST SUPPORT" a PM via HowardForums and this was the replie:

Oh...no apologies necessary. With regards to the i1 not running the 2.1 OS, we were doing the same *****ing to Motorola.
I registered to your site(referring to this forum). I'll try to look at it from time to time. If you see anything you'd want me to jump in on, just send me a note. I'm helping out on Howard Forums postings of i1 in an un-official role. I worked to get this handset added to our portfolio and worked with Motorola on its development. I hope to provide any assistance I can.
Posted on Feb. 11th 2011EDIT II:3:30PM EST TIMEI called Boost (customer support) again today-
They are still playing the same song and dance that they told me yesterday that the update will be out some time this month..
I have also stated that one of there team members (referring to BOOST SUPPORT at Howard Forums) has stated he has the update for his Boost Moto i1..
The replie I received dident surprise me much..
I was told that there employees (boost employees) are not granted any more leaser on updates then what normal customer's are..
They went on by saying that there team DOES NOT RECEIVE UPDATES TO ANY OF THERE PHONE MODELS as there not part of the Deva team..
HMMMMMmmmmm... Ok Mr. "BOOST SUPPORT" you have some explaining to do on all fronts as to why you say you have the update on your phone yet your company insures that NO EMPLOYEES has any benefits such as pre-release's to updates............................................................EDIT:11AM EST TIME"BOOST SUPPORT" on the HowardForums had posted this about 3hrs ago:
- Boost Support 09:38 AM 02-11-11

Sorry...Motorola has delayed the i1 software update release. When they started to roll it out, they got reports of some people running into stability issues. I've been using the update for weeks and haven't seen any problems. However, Moto wants to understand why some people are seeing problems. My guess is that its related to what apps they have running. At this time Motorola can't give us a new date until they can figure out what's going on. I'll post as soon as things get figured out.
None of this adds up..
I went ahead and made a replie back to BOOST SUPPORT to at least get a hold of Moto to see if they can at least put out a beta revision of the update out for us..
As Im sure many of use would like the option to at least test what has been offered..
Rather pisses me off that company's employees can update there shit to the latest crap while we as user's do not even seem to have an option to help "BUG" report any upcoming releases..
I HAVE ALSO SENT OUT A PM TO BOOST SUPPORT TO SEE IF HE
CAN JOIN THESE FORUMS HERE SO WE CAN GET
SOME ONE ON ONE TIME WITH HIM..........................................................Well its 2am here and my Google bud gave me a call waken me up..
And guess what I see?...
MARKET PLACE HAS NOW BEEN FIXEDSo take a gander at the market place and see if you find any 1.6+ apps on there..
If you do I suggest you reboot your phone..
You heard it here first!..
(and pass the word on to the other forums as well - Im just to lazy to post more then I have to at this time)
Also Ill keep you all posted on any other findings from calls I make today toward Boost/Moto/Sprint
In short thank you Google - Moto for at least fixing the Market Place issue~
Posted on Feb. 10th 20115AM EST TIMENo update as of yet..
Ok so Im jumping the gun as its only 5am here in the states where Im at..
Thats 19hrs and counting before I loose all faith in Motorola~
EDIT:1PM EST TIME11Hrs to go and counting before I put this phone on Craigslist..
That is unless the update comes out..
(blowing off some steam)
Ill more then likely give the Boost reps a call with in a few hours to see what the hold up is~
EDIT II:5PM EST TIMEJust got off the phone with one of the most un-English speaking and most un-knowable support helpers I have ever spoken with vai Boost..
After being on hold for more then 15mins (good thing for Boost's unlimited plan) the rep I spoke with ended up putting there supervisor on..
Witch did not speak English any better then the last guy..
However that's a different subject & its not there fault..
I was informed that as of now they
NO NOTHING OF AN UPDATE FOR THE MOTOROLA i1..
Hmmm then after 5 mins the man (the first guy I was speak-en with) told me that an update will be issued some time this month..
(he could not confirm or denie on what the update was all about)
Boost support is about as worthless then Motorola at this point..
Im at the point to totally flame Mr. "BOOST SUPPORT" within Howardforums..
However Im sure he was told the same crap that I was told that an update was suppose to be brought out today..
Screw it I say..
I know this is just a phone but the support is way sup-par to say the most..
Im at the point to just throw this phone on Craigslist and let some other sucker deal with the crap support from Motorola - Boost as well as Nextel/Sprint..
I for one am not asking for an OS update
(however it would be nice but wont happen in Moto's eyes due to the slow P.O.S. under the hood of the i1)
However I am DEMANDING an update to get rid of these bugs..
And what about our Nextel/Sprint user's who have had this phone and updated from last months FAILED update?..
Hmmm?.. It just goes to show that if who ever the hell deals with these updates now shows the lack of faith they put toward there customers..
Dont you all think that if Moto or who ever is reliable for the bug fix update cared they would have released a fixed update for at least the Nextel/Sprint i1 owner's..
One would think they would..
That is if the company truly gives a damn about there customers..
And this is coming from a Boost user~
MY ADVICE IS TO START LOOKING FOR ANOTHER PHONE..
I KNOW ANDROID IS NICE WITH PTT - HOWEVER IS IT REALLY WORTH DEALING WITH UNKNOWABLE SUPPORTERS IN THE END? AS WELL AS KNOWING THAT THE i1 WILL NEVER BE UPGRADED BY MOTOROLA IN THE END?
I THINK NOT~OTHER NEWS:Mark (from the Offical Moto Forums)
Replied back on what the users where talking about toward the ROM..
This is what he stated:
Spoiler: click to toggle
What ROM are you speaking of?
If anything is made available it will be done at the site below.

EDIT: III8:30PM EST TIMEMark (from Motorola Forums) just posted that we as user's should check out this link:
CLICK HEREfor the legit 1.5 ROM..
Only issue with that is if we do find the 1.5 OS ROM whats the point really..
Think about it-
The Motorola i1 has 2.1 enhancements and it also has the PTT feature..
With that being said even if we did find the 1.5 ROM it may be a good starting point..
However the main issue is that many coder's would not know where to add such "code" to enable
PTT or even some of the 2.1 enhancements that the i1 has to offer..
In the end its up to you guys to get the ball rolling about the whole ROM deal as I have no clue when it comes to such things..
In short check out the link I just posted and see if you all can find the 1.5 ROM and I guess will go from there..
STILL NO WORD FROM ANYONE ON THE
UPDATE THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE PUSHED OUT TODAYLAST EDIT OF THE DAY:10:45PM EST TIMEI'm calling it..
Its 1/4 to 11PM here in the states now...
Yet still no i1 love for the customers..
I'm going to have to apologize to everyone here as well as the user's on the forum's..
I did not mean to get your hopes up like this just to be let down..
I was told by many reps this past week that the update would in fact be out on today..
So in the end I apologize to all the user's who have been keeping tabs on this forum postings.. As always if anything has been stated/posted or even whispered about toward the i1 I will post it..
Ill do some more calling to Boost/Sprint/Motorola tomorrow and see whats going on..
Im thinking long and hard about the whole Craigslist deal..
Only reason why I have held out this long is due to Boost's $50 unlimited and with any type of Android you just cant beat that~
Still that whole $400+ I have spent on this is really making myself do a double thought on the whole idea~
Night everyone
Posted on Feb. 9th 2011I spoke with a few BOOST REP's about the update this morning..
They are insuring me that the update will in fact come out tomorrow..
No time has been stated however 2 out of the 3 reps I spoke with did state that a text message will be sent to inform us of the update's release
No word on if this is a global release
And also there is no word on if this is also a Nextel/Sprint release as well..
However the way it looks the update will be for both Nextel/Sprint as well as for Boost user's
(Remember Nextel & Boost user's have different "CODE" within the OS's..
Thus 2 different updates need to be made - 1 for Boost and another for Nextel/Sprint i1 owner's)
No more word about the release of the i1 ROM..
I have spoken to many "higher-ups" on this and the only replie I can receive is that they can either not retrieve the ROM (BULL SHIT) or that the deva's are still working on the software for further future update's (SO WHAT I SAY)..
User's have been bitching at MARK (Forum Admin within the Moto forums) to find out why we as user's are not able to have the ROM as its open-source..
Nothing has been stated from
Mark other then that
"I'll need more info before I answer this correctly as I don't know offhand if our "restore" tools allow this functionality."..
That thread can be found here:

Posted on Feb. 7th 2011There hasn't been any further update's to the phone's update that's coming out on the 10th as I have asked many user's as well as called Boost & Moto to see if there is a new change log for the update that will be coming out on the 10th..
Boost reps could not make a comment however Moto support did state that they are not throwing out the fact that new enhancements may be made within this update for the 10th..
However without a change log its a pain to find out whats new with the update (compared to last months failed update)..
Moto also stated that changes are still being made to the update that is coming out on the 10th!..
Just thought I would keep you all informed on this..
Also as for the "mimic FW" deal~
This has been put on hold until the update is released so no more work is being wasted as where not sure on what will be changed within the new update..
For all we know Moto may release an update with a mimic 2.1 firmware label so where at least able to install 1.6+ apps (doubtful but you never know)..
Also with out the ROM its rather a bitch to finalize the "mimic FW" anyways..
Ill post further info when it comes available~
Posted on Feb. 5th 2011Just a reminder from my Feb. 3rd posting - its been stated that the update will be released on 02Feb.-10-2011..No word if the update will include anything other then what was posted within the last *failed* update however it has been stated that it will fix issue's that it should fix the issue's that Nexte/Sprint user's had last month...
Other news is that the user "
BOOST SUPPORT" (at Howard Forum's) stated that issue's with the Android Market are also be discussed between Moto and Android..
Thus apps that do not run on our phone (anything above 1.6+) will be removed..
No set date on when that will happen has been posted as of yet..
Also a few underground dev's are working on a way to clone our firmware version number and mimic it to show as 1.6+.. However in order to use such a feature your phone will need to be ROOT'ed..
No more word other then that has been said - So that may take some time~
As for the i1 ROM = This is far and in-between on if a legit ROM will ever be pushed out..
This is due to issue's with flash/backup apps that Moto has..
No word from Google if they will release the ROM but at least Moto is trying to make up for it by looking into extracting the ROM them selves..
SKYFIRE: Also user's who want to run
Skyfire (web-browser) with the i1 will be able to after the update has been released.. "BOOST SUPPORT" has stated that the update does fix the WiFi issue where Skyfire will not allow connection if WiFi is active..
In short the 10th just can not come soon enough even though its less then a week away..
NOTE TO ALL BOOST USER's: "BOOST SUPPORT" did state that once the update has been released we (boost user's) will receive a message to give us a notification about the update upon release.
No word if it will be an Email or a MMS/SMS message. So look out for that around the 10th.
No word if Nextel/Sprint user's will receive a message or not~
Posted on Feb. 3rd 2011UPDATE: Its official as where going to be stuck with 1.5 as no upgraded OS is nor ever will be in the works as of now.
If thats the case lets just hope for more bug fix/updates at least..
Also user "BOOST SUPPORT" from with in Howard forums stated that the issue for not upgrading the OS is not Moto's doing but its Google's doing..
Hmmmm.. Doesn't had up to me~
Then why is it that my Mod bud that runs the Android Market would lie to me about wanting to have everyone who's 1.5 get screwed by updating there servers to show 1.6+ only apps?..
Google is trying to get user's to get pist off with there carriers as well as the maker of this phone as my bud stated to me that they would live to see 1.6 on the i1..
However Moto does not want to fund the deva's for such a low grade phone~
(LOW GRADE PHONE MY ASS - AS MYSELF SPENT OVER $400 ON THIS PHONE)
Its been stated that
the update will be out no later then Feb. 10th, 2011 for all i1 user's (Boost & Nextel/Sprint phone's)...
This was stated ya Boost support rep within the Howard Forums and he said "the date seems to be solid"..
Ya will see~
Plus the Boost Rep also said that
no update to 2.1 is possible on the i1..
I say B.S... You can see my rants and ravies here on this link:

Posted on Feb. 1st 2011Word has it that Android Market has under gone a nuke blast within there server's for the past 2 days now..
I have been told that the server is now fixed and no more issue's with the "UPDATE" of apps or downloading of any apps should be at hand any longer.
Google reps them selves looked into this issue and 'quickly' resolved these issues.
To me it wasn't soon enough!~
~ITS THE FIRST OF THE MONTH MOTO - WHERE IS OUR DAMN UPDATE~MUST READ UPDATE:Looks like the Android market is in our favor.. Or at least one would think.
The mod I spoke with said they would like to be done with apps running 1.5..
This is the main reason behind why many apps do not install/work with our phones as well as a few other's phones on the market..
The reason is that the apps being downloaded are for 1.6+ Firmware's..
Deva's (mods & the few Admins) wanted to show to the phone maker's (in our case Motorola) that there are still user's with 1.5 firmware.
However many user's dont think about updates for there mini OS on there phone's and this is making some Android developers as well as deva's rather on edge..
Thus Android pushed for (at least our phone) updating the Android Market and releasing 1.6+ apps with in there server's for 1.5 (cubcake) phone's..
This is so users can bitch at the makers of there phones to push for updates..
So Android is on our side guys..
Bitch at Moto not at AndroidMuch of this is just commen sense if you think about it.. So with this push I for one hope many more user's will bitch at the Tech Support within Moto that there are apps that can not be installed on our phone's..
So get bitchen to Moto people..
There Tech Support can be found here:
Moto Tech Support PageNote that there is a LIVE CHAT, EMAIL SUPPORT & A PHONE SUPPORT tabs found within the link above..
Choose what you would like..
LIVE CHAT - to me sux
EMAIL SUPPORT - Not even worth it
PHONE SUPPORT - Its about as good as there phone's now days (Support is a hit or miss at times)
Posted on Jan. 30th 2011NEXTEL/SPRINT and BOOST i1 users we have a Market issue at handIts been reported that issues with the Android Market (via installing apps) is at hand..
Sure enough this is true on many of the apps now with in the market..
No known reason to why this is happening or for what fixes will be had..
Android's reps said the server is running fine and normal so no issue's should be had..
Well something is up and I will be looking long and hard for the answers why we now have this issue..
Everyone is getting pist off with these little issue's and it just doesnt seem like Moto/Nextel/Sprint or Boost really give a damn any longer..
Lets just hope the server got jacked in some way and Android dev's just do not want to fess up at this time.. Time will tell~
If your getting tired of non-updated and you want your voice to be heard then register up and make a posting with in Motorola's main forum hosted for our i1's here:
Motorola's Owner's ForumEDIT: Spoke the the Mod once again and he says that no issue's have been had other then with i1 user's..
This does not make much sense however the Android Market is in the works of revamping there search engine. With that said though no issue's should be had via APP UPDATE's & Installs on new apps..
WITH THAT SAID:
It looks like its a software issue after all within our phones..
Plus there is no word on the update that was suppose to be released by the end of this month..
Well Moto has 1 more day to hold true to there word to myself..
But Im really thinking this will be the last Moto phone I will ever buy - EVER~
Moto supports sucks and they had in the past as well with other phone's I had..
however being the only PTT Android phone I figured Google (android) would push Moto to further update there hardware.. Guess I thought wrong...
Yet again another paper weight - just to bad this one cost $400+
Posted Jan. 25 2011I have been told from a higher up from Boost Tech. that the update is being worked on around the clock so Sprint/Nextel as well as Boost users are able to get this update out hopefully before the end of Jan. 2011...
I for one am not going to hold my breath however I have also spoken to a Nextel rep as well and they state that both Moto-Nextel & Boost Deva teams are working over time working on this updat and that the rumers are true that there hoping for a end of the month release..
The deva team needs to kick it in high gear as well over 2,300 users of the Moto i1 (Nextel/Sprint only) now have buggy phones..
So lets hope for a quick fix and we here wish the best from the Deva's who are working hard by fixing the update..
Firmware & Patch updates:On Jan. 14 2011 an update was put out however quickly pulled..
The update included the following and was only released to Sprint users for 2days until they had issues with constant reboots and bluetooth issues as well as dropped calles..
With that said Boost was smart enough to pull the update just in time so Boost user's would not be able to update there phone's because of this issue.
Plus take note the update was expected for download only from the Moto servers as the WIFI update was not released..
Those that did update where more then likely user's who manually updated
However here is what the update had to offer:CLICK SPOILER TO VIEW THE CHANGELOG
