It did before Google changed the market.. Now its all kinds of screwed up.. If you notice the "ORDER's" still work when they want to.. However you are correct as the devices to not show up.. However this issue should be resolved some time before the month is out.. (at least thats what my bud was hinting at when I last spoke to him).. I dident want to make it public yet as Google really doesnt care at this point on Moto's bitch and grown rants about the Cliq or the i1.. Google wants these phones to make something of them selves.. And as all of you have seen there has been a hell of an uproar on the Cliq as well as the i1.. Google thinks this is funny (and this is my friend saying this to me) that Moto is putting down Google as well as the software behind them.. Google is more then happy to help out any and all user's however there trying to make user's see how Moto is and for Moto to get off there lazy azzes and make there customer's happy.. I guess Google & Moto had a big issue that went down a few months back and thats the reasoning why Google (Android deva's in this case) dont really give a damn much toward Moto.. However as you can see who suffers through all of this ~ WE DO!.. There is alot more that I would like to update and put here as well as on the front page however at this time it would be a wise idea to just let things role until the i1 update has been released.. When I login to the android market site, I do see a list of my installed apps -- including one app (Market History Eraser) that I installed after I started having trouble with updating and getting those "Installation Unsuccessful" errors all the time, especially on apps that I was trying to simply update. But, I don't see the i1 in my list of devices either. This is likely related to the fact that the new, updated Android market doesn't properly recognize our older 1.5 OS phones correctly. On some of the Motorola forums where I've posted about this problem, Motorola is saying that they are working with Google to resolve the problem but they're unwilling to give a resolution date. Personally, if there are still these significant issues after the reported system update (NOT and O.S. update!) that is purported to be coming on the 10th of February, I'm going to start calling Motorola and Boost and trying to get more personal attention to get this fixed. |

I couldent agree more with you.. However as to what my source's have been telling me they want to hold out and see how user's think of the update.. As there sure there will many other i1 user's who will complain about that once it comes out.. My Google bud did inform me that they have not put any of our issue's on the back burner.. However they are busy with other things at the moment (sounds like a crap excuse to me).. Put it this way.. The i1 is pretty much a dead stick of plastic.. I for one have had it with the Moto crew as well as the user's on there forums.. The only knowledgeable user's seems to be the ones within Howarth's Forum's.. Im not saying all user's are bad with in the Moto forums - its just everyone keeps getting off topic as well as not taking the time to do some research them self's.. I for one have posted this forum link within the Moto's threads about 3 times as of now and everyone keeps asking the same dumb quiestions that can found within the first post here (as well as through Google).. In the end Im pretty much done with the Moto forums.. And when it comes down to it Ill be done with the i1 all together.. However Im waiting until tomorrow (that is if the update is still in fact coming out) then I may change my thinking.. |

How is it that the user's response going to Motorola's (or is it Boost's?) system bugfix update going to affect Google's decision? This problem with the market is widespread across all 1.5 OS phones, not just Moto, right?? Additionally, *IF* (biiiiig "if"!) the ROMs for the i1 get released or cracked, wouldn't the first patches to a new OS level come through without PTT enabled? Personally, I would be just fine without PTT. I didn't choose this phone for PTT anyhow. I know approximately *zero* people that I want to talk to that have PTT. I chose the i1 for the ruggedness (I do a lot of outdoors stuff, between geocaching and Scouts), and for the prepaid, no contract plan. When I picked this one, last July, I didn't see other carriers with as attractive no-contract plans as the one Boost provided. Of course, now they are all over the place, but I am fairly happy with my mix of apps on the phone right now and I can afford to wait for these issues to be ironed out. I'm guessing new owners of this phone (they are still selling it at Best Buy) are going to be very unhappy with the current state of things. I've done some of work with open source software and I want to remind people that just because the original source for the Android OS is "open source, freely distributed" and contains portions licensed under GPLv2 - particularly the core linux kernel -- the Android OS itself is released under Apache Software License (ASL) that allows "proprietary enhancements". This means that Motorola has the absolute right to withhold their changes to the code base of Cupcake as a means to differentiate their product in the market. Unfortunate for the users, that also means that if Motorola decides to abandon a product, we don't really have any recourse to demand their ROMs, for instance. Finally, I wonder if this foot dragging by Google is also trying to encourage the market app developers to quit making apps for 1.5. An app developer who makes programs in different versions that support multiple OS levels is likely tracking which OS is installing their apps and they will see a sudden drop (probably to zero) of the number of 1.5 folks using their program. Probably time to drop that old 1.5 backward compatibility test suite, the developer may think... All in all, if this is really Google's issue -- and I have to believe that it is -- we need to remind them of their Mission statements: http://www.google.com/corporate/tenthings.html
and from their design principles page:
If you still have the ear of your "Google bud", just ask him to get management to approve the posting of a statement to the effect that they are aware of the current issue with Android 1.5 devices in the Android Market and they are working to fix the problem. As for the bugfix update its all on Motorola.. Boost is just the carrier as well as Nextel/Sprint.. The main issue's are Motorola and Google.. However Google is trying to work with there customers (in a sense).. You are correct as Google is trying to fish out all the 1.5 apps with in the market (I had stated this on the front page with in the news section a while back)... Google is trying to push any phone makers (in our case Moto) to push out updates to at least 1.6 OS within the Android system.. However Google know's that user's are complaining toward the market however this is so customers (such as you and I) will complain for an update for our smartphones to fix these issues (more then anything to push out a 1.6+ update).. This is widespread for alot of hardware that runs 1.5 other then Motorola phone's.. However the main issue is that not all smartphones that have 1.5 are running the same revisions (as there are 4 of them in total).. This is still no excuss for the lack of an update.. In the end there is no reason why Moto just can not make a skimmed down version of 1.6 or 2.1 for that matter.. The main issue's with 2.x OS's is to do the Blur Play.. However if Moto would remove such things there would not be any issue's.. You have to also remember that PTT was a big thing on this phone.. Many user's who have this phone use PTT.. I for one do not hardly use it as I only know 2 other user's who have a PTT phone.. However I do agree with you that it would be nice to bring a skimmed down version of any upgraded OS not just for the apps but to also show that Moto cares.. And having the option to loose PTT for an upgraded OS - well then Im all for it.. Many users are not though~ ............................... As for my Google bud.. I guess I should clarify this a bit more.. He is nothing more then just a server hound that monitors the servers within Googles corporation.. He does however have the inside track of the latest buzz that is in the works.. With that being said though he has to be short lipped to what is being said as he can loose his $28 an hour job (witch I dont want that & nether does he).. He has also informed me that Google them selves have also scanned around this forum as well as on my legit site.. There also reading the forums within our i1 forum at Motorola.com as well as Howarth's forums.. Just to hear the user's bitch toward Moto.. Im just rambling on.. In a nutshell: I have spoken to my bud about your request toward a world wide statement about this issue.. Also Moto & Android are in a mix right now as neither one of them want to work with each other for Cliq & i1 user's.. This is mostly do to crap sales in the end~ I will have to wait until tomorrow if not this weekend before I can get a replie.. |

TRIPLE POSTING UPDATED FRONT PAGE ONCE AGAIN WITH SOME GOOD INFO FROM THE RING OF MY GOOGLE BUD I was told by my Google bud that the Market Place should be fixed now.. If you encounter any issues please leave a posting here and let me know so I can inform my bud that other's are having issues.. As of now though (on my end) the Market Place is now re-showing just 1.5 apps.. If you still show 1.6+ apps I suggest to reboot your i1.. So at least thats one issue resolved as of now~ |

Hello all, new to this forum. Saw the Administer of this forum (I think it was him) post on the Motorola forum regarding the i1. I've been frustrated with this phone nearly from day one. I'm in Los Angeles, and you'd expect Boost to be on top of this in one of the largest cel phone markets in the country if not in the world. Main issues are...when I'm trying to leave a msg or check my msgs, the phone screen likes to blank out in 3 secs. Then when I hit the button to get the screen back up, the phone either doesn't show the number I've just pushed 100 times....or the screen keeps blanking out & I have to hit the big center button to get the screen back up again. Sometimes it even goes back to the password screen which really pisses me off. Same thing happens when I'm calling a cust service...a combination of screen blankings &/or the phone isn't acknowledging I'm pushing numbers. Sometimes the phone WILL acknowledge I'm pushing the numbers, but then the voice mail system I'm calling (either my email or some other phone msg sys) won't say its received any entries. So basically, I've got to hang up and redial the same number....go thru the same steps and then the system I'm calling acknowledges the tones from the phone. 2nd big issue is the texts or voice mail notifications. There will be times where I don't get a notification for a voice mail or text for hours, then all of a sudden....they come pouring in. I'll call the people that sent the texts or left the voice msgs and they'll say they sent them a while (hours) ago. A master reset seems to help that for some reason. Sometimes I've got to call Boost and have them reset whatever they reset on their side. I'm so let down with this phone. For over $ plus tax for this thing, I could have bought two Iphones or a small laptop. This phone should have given THE BEST of service & reliability FOR THE PRICE. I could understand if I got it free with a plan, or if it was at least 1/2 the price. But Motorola got paid WELL for this phone and it shouldn't have the issues its having. Or at the VERY LEAST it should be fixed PERMANENTLY. I think I read somewhere too that the IDEN sys is being disassembled? Is that true? If so, does that mean this phone will no longer work with Boost? Just curious. Thanks for any help you can give me, because Motorola is absolutely no help at all. |

Well for starters welcome to the forum.. Yes you are correct as I have ranting and raving over at the Moto forums toward the i1.. As for your issues - your not alone Everything you have stated is due to the fact of being on the iDen network (witch yes will be shutdown late 2012).. The issue with iDen is that you can only do one thing at a time.. Be it data or talk or PTT.. Alot of times as well you will need to push SMS message to your self just so you can recieve the rest of your text message's as some times they will not go through.. This is all the joy of being on iDen.. I agree as the network is a big letdown and its very old school on how it works.. However the phone is pretty damn good.. Its just a shame that there isent a faster processor in her and the lack of Moto pushing ANY updates out for this phone is a big let down as well.. I have sense moved on from the Moto i1 and bought the cheap LG Optimus V (witch I may make a thread about as well).. Sorry for the late replie however once again welcome to the forums and enjoy your stay! Civic |
