Just is the Law. Just is the Word. Just is the Judgment.

"The Word is the basis of a Judge's power. It is found imbued within their weapons, their armor. It is the entitlement of the Arbiters to maintain the connection between the Word and the Law..." The Word is the metaphysical manifestation of the Law, the faction of Justice's doctrine on how the world is run. Arbiters specialize in control of this force, and study new ways to bring the Word into our reality. To use the Word, the applicant must be able to speak - no Commands (the "spells" offered by use of the Word) are non-verbal. The applicant must also have signed the Ledger - the great tome containing the names of every Judge ever to enter the faction, from the original Order (whose name, like each of the other individual leaders of the Justice faction, is kept secret) to the current new line of applicants - the 11th Generation. Having one's name written in this inscrutable book registers one's presence as a Judge within the sight of the Law. Below are some Commands - the best-known and most used of their kind. The most major limitation of the Word is that offensive Commands may only be used on those the Law deems unjust, and that defensive and passive Commands can only be applied on those the Law recognizes as upholders of justice or the few good citizens. Each word has three ranks within it. As your judge progress up the ranks or spends more time with the judges they may be given a stronger rank of the particular word. Each rank above allows the user to use the rank below it as well. You will still need a writ to use the word and each rank has it's own writ. So if you have rank two pain which is Cripple but only have a writ to use pain then you would only be able to use the lower rank of the word. If you did use cripple without the writ then you yourself would be breaking a law. So please keep that in mind. Word of Holding: Holding:(Rank 1) Upon the Judge's word, a wrongdoer is stopped in their tracks, and held in position until the Judge chooses to stop concentrating on the Word of Holding. Paralysis:(Rank 2) This level of the Word allows a Judge to Hold a criminal for a period of time, or until he chooses to dismiss the power. The Judge need not concentrate.. Stasis:(Rank 3) At the pinnacle of this edge of the Word, the Judge can instantly freeze a group of up to 3 people, even if he chooses not to concentrate on the Word. Word of Silence: Silence:(Rank 1) The Judge's Command temporarily mutes a criminal, OR can deafen them to all but the Word. Only one effect can be on a target per Judge. Deprivation:(Rank 2) This level of Silence gives a Judge the power to block the speech and hearing of all but the word, of a felon if he so desires. Denial:(Rank 3) Here, the Judge may cause an entire city block to lose their hearing of all but the Word or use of their tongue. This Command requires immense concentration (ie: no fighting, no singing, no shoving, no talking, just pure concentration) in order to maintain. Word of Blinding: Blinding:(Rank 1) When a Judge speaks the Word of Blinding, a criminal is stripped of their sight. Ignorance:(Rank 2) This Command allows Judges to wipe the sight of up to 2 criminals, OR completely remove their sense of balance. Deadening:(Rank 3) When a Judge is trained to the utmost standard of Blinding, he may permanently remove a single perpetrator's sight, or visually deprave up to 10 criminals temporarily. Word of Pain: Pain:(Rank 1) A very carefully guarded Command, the Word of Pain allows a Judge to spread a wave of non-lasting agony throughout the criminal's body. The Word of Pain and its variations all require a special Writ to use, and it's granted per situation only. Crippling:(Rank 2) With this Command, a Judge may target specific areas in a Criminal's body to cause extreme pain, possibly hindering the lasting effectiveness of that limb or organ. Crucifixion:(Rank 3) Only the High Arbiters and Order himself are aware of this Command - with it, the Judge can kill a criminal, or permanently disable him. Word of Voice: Voice:(Rank1) This Command increases the volume of a Judge's voice, used in crowd control circumstances or other similar occasions. Projection:(Rank 2) The Judge can further increase the range and volume of their speech. Amplification:(Rank 3) The Judge's voice may be heard across a city or over other large areas, such is the level of amplification here. Word of Revelation: Revelation:(Rank 1) The Word of Revelation allows a Judge to use the Word to bring a criminal to admitting their crimes, or can apply this Command on innocents to have them reveal information. This Command and its variations are reserved for the use of the Adjudicators alone. Truth:(Rank 2) With this extreme Command, a Judge may turn a righteous civilian into a criminal in the eyes of the Law, and therefore apply negative uses of the Word to innocents. Purity:(Rank 3) At this level, the Judge can cause any individual to admit to any crime, whether they committed it or not. He can wrench the darkest secrets of a criminal from their depths, and so this Command is carefully restricted within the ranks of the Judges. Word of Enchanting: Restriction: The Judge may permanently embellish an object, so that any criminal to touch it will be rendered unconscious.(striking a foe with a weapon under this effect does not count as them touching it.) Empower: The Judge, with this Command, can make an item or weapon enchanted to cause it to call down another manifestation of the Word (Blinding, Silence, etc.) upon a target who tries to touch it, or is struck by a weapon. If a Judge wishes to learn a new Command, they must submit their plea to the Council, and provide a valid reason for their tutelage. Arbiters may submit new applications of the Word - new Commands - to the Council for approval, and will be credited if their suggestion is valid. Please note that both further levels of these Commands and more Commands are not revealed to the general populace for security reasons. |
