Just is the Law. Just is the Word. Just is the Judgment.
 *  *
Note that each judge, regardless of rank, starts with 2 general skills/abilities/traits as outlined in the Information Listings topic. Additional Word abilities may be granted based on rank, performance, and need by your Conciliators or High Arbitor.

"The most effective way to end a crime syndicate is
to eliminate the head of the organization.
Ignore the buds and attack the roots.
A Judge must show efficiency.

Below are the most basic classes within the faction, with their sub-ordinations listed underneath.

Magister
Malleus Iustus

The Magistrate of Justice are the upholders of the Word and the Law, and are the division of Justice most likely to use force to complete their tasks. They are issued armour and lawblades as symbols of office, and are instructed in minor applications of the Word - enough to catch criminals and other scoundrels. The Magistrate are the task force of Justice, and can often be found patrolling the streets or serving as guard to a figurehead or other authority figure. Those elected to the position of Magister are likely skilled warriors, quick thinkers and extremely resilient. Most civilians are unaware that the Magistrate aren't the only Judges to exist. Magistrate patrol in squads of three called "watches", and are usually accompanied by a fourth - an Arbiter or Conciliator.

Rank
Registrant: The first possible rank for a new Judge is as a Registrant - this is a trial period beyond the original training (if any is issued) in which the next steps for the Magister will be defined.

Walker: Those Magistrate whose job it is simply to patrol the streets, searching for wrong-doers fall into the Walker rank - their job is as their title.

Justicar: The most physical of a physical class - the Justicars are literally the muscle behind the Judges, called to deal with anything that puts up a fight usually by simply lifting them and bringing them to a gaol.

High Justicar: The High Justicars are simply the best amongst the ranks of the Magistrate - the top in their field, enlisted to deal with any disturbance beyond the control of Walkers and Justicars.

Arbiter
Argutiae Iustus

Arbiters of Justice are the cordon designated to applying the Word to the continued respect of Justice - their tasks range from assisting watches of magistrate to tutoring others in the use of the Word, the infallible language of Justice. Admission to the ranks of the Arbiters is rarer than being admitted to the Magistrate, and is usually reserved for those already skilled in magic or those possessed of uncanny ability. The Arbiters are armed with armourweave robes and blunt weapons such as maces as their symbols of office and as a last resort in combat.

Rank
Registrant: The first possible rank for a new Judge is as a Registrant - this is a trial period beyond the original training (if any is issued) in which the next steps for the Arbiter will be defined.

Orator: Arbiters trained in thwarting criminals with the Word are titled Orators, and are those who accompany any Watches of Magistrate to aid in the application of the Law.

Scholar: The Arbiters who devote their time to studying for new devices with which to apply the Law or who trawl through the libraries searching for new Commands are called the Scholars, and they are paid their due upon individual discoveries.

High Arbiter: The High Arbiters dominate the collective Arbiters by excelling in their individual fields - there are eight High Arbiters at any one time.

Conciliator
Magnus Iustus

The Conciliators of Justice are the elite Judges, skilled in both the Word and weaponry. Often, a watch of magistrate is officered by one Conciliator, who are trained in command and are typically acute at tactical planning. The Council are a selection of the most experienced, most intelligent and of the best combatants amongst the Conciliators. To achieve the rank of Conciliator, an Arbiter or Magister must undergo a series of trials as proposed by the council, and must have an outstanding record of achievement in upholding the Law - often with at least one Class A crime beneath their belt.

Rank
Adjudicator: Conciliators begin their time as Adjudicators, who often accompany Watches to ensure that the Law is delivered correctly. The Adjudicators are trained in further Commands and fighting techniques before they are promoted to Officiators.

Officiator: Officiators are the administrative force of the Law - they deal with all the dire paperwork, but are rarely found off the streets, leading Watches and such, as this would mean they are stuck once again behind a desk.

Altruist: The final possible achievement for a Judge to make, Altruists are known for their ultimate sacrifice of themselves for the Law - every waking moment is dedicated to the Law, and the Altruists are the brightest in the faction for knowledge of the Word and their law-weapons.
