How to pwn the rogues at DPS:

1) Talents

Survival Instincts and Nurturing Instinct are pure survival talents but highly recommended, because when you're dead you can't DPS.

2) Glyph of Savage Roar, Glyph of Rip, Glyph of Shred

3) Use Rawr to pick the best gear/gems/enchants combo. Don't forget to setup talents & buffs properly (there are massive differences!)

4) Rotation, Rotation, Rotation:

a) Fairy Fire when you're still out of range of the target
b) Open with Rake (or Mangle+Rake, if no other Feral or Arms Warrior is present), follow up with Savage Roar.
c) Use Tiger's Fury and shred.
d) If the tank already has enough aggro, pop Berserk
e) Shred/Rake until 5 cp, Rip

5) From now on it's priority based:

a) Keep Savage Roar up (3-5 combo points if possible)
b) Keep Rip up (5 combo points!)
c) Make sure a Mangle or Trauma debuff is present (hopefully from someone else)
d) Keep Rake up
e) Shred for combo points

Don't bother with Ferocious Bite it's more likely to harm your rotation then do good.

The trick is to establish Savage Roar and Rip in a way so they don't run out together all the time. If that's the case I refresh Savage Roar early (e.g. when Rip is at the 10 second mark), which gives me enough time to build 5cp to renew the rip.

The best way to monitor a/b/c/d is setting up TellMeWhen. I also use it to monitor when my cooldowns (Tiger's Fury + Berserk) are available.

6) Don't die from the fire/void zones/whatever. Dead kitties can't shred.

Surely you mean NeedToKnow? ;) I am not saying that you can't use TellMeWhen, but personally I prefer NeedToKnow. This add on will also give you a timed bar, so you can keep track of when your buffs/debuffs run out better.

It's a matter of taste. While TellMeWhen probably uses a bit more screen estate, I find it much easier to see what's up, how many stacks there are, and how much time's left (it's the big yellow number in the middle of the button, just right-click the button in setup-mode and make sure 'show timer' is checked).

I have too many bars on screen already, so the buttons are a nice change there as well.

Not sure who we are writing this for as there is only two of us atm varana. Unless you are trying to educate me?

Comments on Varana's post

Ideally you want to pop berserk with full energy so right after the tigers fury is better (i.e. no shred)

--------------------------------------------

Anyway,

I use needtoknow. I've also modified needtoknow so you can specify a series of debuffs/buff to monitor in a single bar.

e.g.
Mangle - Cat, Mangle - Bear, Trauma
Faerie Fire (Feral),Faerie Fire

If anyone wants my modifications let me know.

----------------------------

Other good addons for kitty dps include :

BadKitty with Bad kitty warnings

This addon shows everything you need to know to do max dps in a small window (i.e. cooldowns, debuffs, energy, combo points etc).

Face Mauler

This is an ability recommendation tools. It will look at your targets debuffs your current cooldowns, combo points, energy and recommend an ability.

My experience with face mauler is mixed. Its great in a fight where there is a lot of other stuff to focus on as you can take your brain out when it comes to your rotation however I can get slightly more dps figuring it out manually.

----------------------------

Talents
-------

You can still do very good dps with a mixed bear/cat talent tree. With a cat specific one you gain maybe 5% extra pew pew but you sacrifice a lot of needed bear tanking skills. Fine ofc if you want to have feral as your offspec as well.

----------------------------

Good Sites
----------

http://www.emmerald.net/

The emmerald sites contains a good feral druid forum and weighted gears lists. I'd recommend every feral check it out. Ofc rawr is probably better for judging gear but if you want a quick reference the lists are good.

A good druid tank that likes to blog a lot. Worth reading some of his posts.

Nah, you're hopeless. But some people with druid alts might be interested.

Popping Berserk right after TF is optimal if you can pop all of it fast enough (i.e. macro it) before you get an energy tick (a clear-cast could possible make you waste some energy).

I tried to keep things as simple as possible, so I may have ommitted some small optimizations (e.g. I discourage the use of FB, I didn't talk about how hit/expertise can affect your rotation etc.). I also tried to recommend only one addon.

I also consider learning/using TellMeWhen *very* worthwhile because not only does it supply all your druid needs, it can also be used for other classes, to track your debuffs on the target, or buffs on yourself/your pet, for example the revivify on Malygos.

About the hybrid spec: You're perfectly right, you can do very decent DPS with it (I used the same spec you're currently using through most of Naxx), and if you like to have a healer or pvp offspec, it's probably the most flexible spec.

But for chart topping dps and extra survivability (yes, Nurturing Instinct!) you need a pure spec. I also consider it a drawback for us that you don't have Infected Wounds, but I don't think it's too important right now (I only think you should get it when we start making serious attempts at hard modes).

Thanks for the think-tank link, I'll look into that!
