Thought I'd make a thread just for this 'cause yeah. So I started ESO not long ago.... Guys. It is MUCH better than I expected... It's fucking AMAZING! Where do I even begin... The world is just breath-taking, the gameplay (simply running around, the battle system, etc) is fun. It's not how I thought it would be (I honestly didn't read enough into it), where you can just travel to another alliance's nations and encounter enemy players. You stay in your own. BUT, there's still SO MUCH to explore/do. and, well, you all know about the alliance war in Cyrodiil. You (of course) encounter enemy players there. The whole system in Cyrodiil is so much better than I thought. See, I assumed that all it was about was a war between all the alliances, and that's all you could do is fight other players, and only go to specific places, but no. You can go EVERYWHERE IN CYRODIIL! There are missions at your base you can start to either take out enemies, take out their bases, or even just to scout in enemy territory. You can just wander around so freely and have random encounters with anyone in Cyrodiil. (it gets a bit scary when you go into the areas that are taken over by the enemy players. never know who you're going to run into out there x3 ) and also, it's not only the war. you can find random quests within Cyrodiil that don't have to do with the war. Just some random people that need help. and you encounter other things, like lions, tigers, wolves, mammoths, trolls, and, of course, daedra. Speaking of daedra... the places taken over by them, with the Dark Anchors, ( http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Dark_Anchors ) you can actually witness random events like rituals where they summon said dark anchors over a village/fort/etc. I just happened to see it happen from beginning to end, and it just took my breath away. and well, you can take these Dark Anchors down by destroying the chains and the enemies around it. (you need a group to do it or you'll die lol) BUT ANYWAY My god you guys... SEEING CYRODIIL AT THIS POINT IN TIME. The Alliance War going on, the daedra taking over... Seeing this beautiful land, with parts of it broken and taken over by these dark portals and the war. It actually brought tears to my eyes. Seeing Cyrodiil like this. It's just... and THE GRAPHICS. It looks waaay improved from Oblivion. and the nights and days are a good length. there are on-and-off storms. and the sound is beautiful. and seeing the IMPERIAL CITY. You can't actually go there, because there's (I'm sure you all know) a daedra war going on inside of it. (right in the center where the tower is, one of the Dark Anchors is there.) and you know how the entire city is surrounded by water? well, if you go in that water, slaughterfish will eat you. x3 But yeah, you can still see the city (though sometimes it's covered in fog). It's amazing. And as far as the war, I joined the Ebonheart Pact, and so far we are winning in taking Cyrodiil. We have about half of it, while the other two alliances only have about 1/4 each. (hehehe) But they're still putting up a good fight. And, fighting other players in a war is FUN. Much more so than I thought it would be! It's nice to know though that you don't only have to play war in Cyrodiil, you can just go out in your own nation and do quests and see amazing new places and towns, just like in LotRO. I think this was a great idea. I'm very happy with this game guys. I think this could very well be another MMO I could play for years to come. I'm already so into it. I would be happy if you guys were to get it. (I know at least one of you would rather get it on PC, but) and I have a feeling you'll love it. I have yet to try making another character in another alliance (you can have up to 8 characters for free in your account I think). Tbh, I might wait a bit before going to another and seeing new lands. All I can say for now is that I'm happy that I went with Ebonheart. The place you start out in (Stonefalls) is good. (also I must say I'm happy that we're winning so far in Cyrodiil. x3 though I know that can change at any time) I made a good character: a Dunmer Dragon Knight named Valdaris: ![]() I'm going to to show you guys some screenshots. It's up to you if you want to look, I know quite a few can be considered a bit spoilery environment-wise. but yeah it's just some environment shots of Cyrodiil: Spoiler: click to toggle The starting point in the Ebonheart area (outside of Cyrodiil and the war) is great. I'll get some screenshots up later. There's just so much out there. (I won't show it all of course x3 ) Last thing I'm going to say: (and forgive me for not saying it sooner, I wanted you guys to see the positive stuff first x3 ) it does have flaws, like some glitches here and there, and well the fact that there's just one megaserver... it can make it hard to get on sometimes with all the people. But, it doesn't /always/ happen. (at least not here) and I'm sure that the more this game is out, the more they will fix these issues. (of course) Anyway. Forgive me I went in complete nerd mode. This is just such a fantastic game so far guys. |

Couple weeks in, your verdict so far? (And here comes the question barrage lol) Your dude definitely looks Morrowind-Dunmer I... the horses are really buff and have weird proportions. And the manes are painted on. :D I've heard that the architecture is repetitive and very copy-paste; is this a thing, is it obvious? I imagine it'd be kind of annoying seeing House #6 or Tree #12 over and over. How's it look in motion; is the foliage animated? I notice in the screenies here it looks sort of like LotRO on medium in Gondor. How's crafting? Have you met any players from Oceania, did they mention the connection quality? Is the mic chat thing annoying? Ideally, I think, it'd add to the atmosphere of towns and other settlements but from what I've read people just.. have really bad mic ettiquette. And how are the towns/cities? Also, how's the gear design? Also, I already asked a bunch of questions over chat, but I was reading a thread about FFXIVARR and reminded me about this one: Can you customize your characters' bodies? E.g muscular -> skinny, perhaps height options (though I don't think they have those), etc. OKAY ENOUGH PRODDING FROM ME |

Yes, my guy matches his horse x3 There are still jokes about it, but it wasn't fully my intention lol. (also: it's nice to know my character looks like he should :3 ) The horse proportions do look a little strange, but I haven't been bothered by them too much so far, for some reason. x3 As for accent changes in different regions, to be honest I haven't noticed any for some reason. I might have to get back to you on that. Though I can say I've heard a lot of the same VAs in different areas. They did do the accent changes of races pretty well though. (as for the accent of mine: I think his fits??) As for architecture; the outsides of homes are indeed copy-paste here and there, but they're not all like that, and identical ones aren't very close together so it's not that obvious unless you're really looking out for them. As for the insides, a lot of houses have the same exact interiors. This is much more obvious, but again, it's not really bad, and it's not every single house either. I haven't really done crafting yet, so I'll have to get back to you on that. Most of the players I've met have been from the US I think. (there are only 2 servers. US and EU, but I believe you can choose either one) There are other people who I couldn't tell though. and no one has really mentioned connection quality. As for mic chatting... well, coming from a guy who typically doesn't enjoy a lot of talking while I'm playing a game, it really depends on who you talk to. So far, this group my brother and I (mainly my brother) have become friends with.. well, most of them aren't a bad bunch to talk to, a few of them are rather funny. and it has been fun messing around with them and just chatting. but they talk a lot. and really, there have been more times where I've wanted to just enjoy the atmosphere of the game and actually hear the NPCs I'm talking to for quests, but only hearing the players talk all the time ruins it. As for other players... the few I've encountered are either nice or annoying/bitchy young people. To be honest, when it comes down to it, I prefer a text chat. That's one of the biggest issues I have with this game is it doesn't have one. Going back to environments: the towns and cities are absolutely gorgeous. and so is the wilderness. The foliage does indeed move, and the motion is well done. I do see identical things like trees here and there, but they're really spread out from each other. Most of the trees and other things look really different from each other when you just look out somewhere. Another thing I must point out is that the sound is amazing in this game, and I enjoy the weather system. (mostly when it rains) Storms come in randomly though slowly. and you'll start hearing soft thunder, and rain will start falling. and then later there will be a sudden bang of thunder - so loud and clear that it feels real. (and I've jumped several times because of it x3 ) It's really neat. Also night and day last for a good amount of time. (pretty much the same as LotRO ??) The gear designs so far have been good. A few crappy ones, same as in LotRO, but most are pretty cool. (Though a lot of times when you don't get armor from the same set they don't match.. again, this is another thing I really want to change in ESO. they need cosmetic slots.) Finally, for the character creation: yes, you can customize the bodies! you can adjust them to different levels of Muscular, Large and Skinny. and you can indeed change the height. You can also change their appearance in texture; like their age and how strong or soft they look. and you can adjust the shapes of the eyes, nose, mouth, ears. and adjust the size of the arms, legs, chest and butt (yes, you can change the size of the chest and butt! x3) It's actually a really nice CC. I love it. Edited by Drake, 4 Jul 2015, 03:41 PM.
