So, I'm currently bouncing between three games.

Rogue Galaxy - a Level 5 JRPG that I'm thoroughly enjoying. I spent pretty much all day on it. Kinda goony, but that's okay xD

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - In a bit of a Star Wars mood atm and I bought this toward the end of my last one and barely got through the beginning before I was on to something else. I just got to where I left off (restarted), but I'm thinking I'll like it. 'Tis highly praised.

And Star Wars Galaxies. I was very much enjoying SWTOR, but it's not running well on my new computer (still need new graphics card or something), so I've for the moment replaced it with this. It's the old SW MMO that has since been shut down. However, there is an emulated version online that fans have created that I have managed to access. Pain in the ass - don't recommend unless you're really curious (like I was). It's also kind of a pain in the ass to play because there's no campaign questline and they just drop you off on a planet and you go ahead and do stuff. I have also been disappointed to find out that they have not added the expansions to the emulator (I think) that allow you to pilot a ship of your own and stuff. Oh well.

And since three is more than enough to be playing at the same time, I've sort of stopped the one that I was playing before these, Allods Online, a rather interesting MMO.

If you like KotOR than you'd love Dragon Age, similar game mechanics, and it's Bioware c:

What I've been playing lately has just been a mess of games, Fallout New Vegas because I thought I'd try, got an hour in before my ps3 crashed. Paper Mario because I got my N64 back recently, Disgaea 4 because why not, and a Phoenix Wright game but I have no idea which one.

I've been wanting to play Dragon Age for a while now. I remember a time we were trying to meet (which I am of course still up for should the occasion arise) and you had a copy with my name on it. It's dirt cheap, though, I'll probably pick it up some time soon.

But damn, your PS3 crashed? D: That sucks. I haven't played New Vegas yet, but I've played some of Fallout 3 and it's really good. Gotta get back to it (and actually kinda in the mood for it, too)

I am currently into the Myst series, replaying them while getting back into Myst Online (though recently school's been keeping me rather too busy)

The ps3 didn't break, just the game froze and I didn't feel like putting in all that effort to reach the point I was at again. New Vegas is also pretty cheap now, my brother picked it up last year (or maybe the year before) for like 20 bucks

I know that feel. :tired:
New Vegas is hands down one of, if not the, buggiest games I've played. I didn't think it was possible but it's buggier than FO3. There are little things, but the ones to watch out for are infinite loading screen, sava data corruption (bethesda rule: never have 1 save), and VATS/radio causing freezing.
70 hours and it's thrown more bugs at me than ~300hrs of FO3. Try Hardcore mode though, it spices things up. And, um, there's no level scaling, so beware the.. giant wasps. Worse than deathclaws.
---------

Anyway.
I recently obtained AC3 and Lego LotR. I've finished both of them, Lego in ~35 hours and AC3 in a disappointing 17 hours.
Regarding AC3's story, it had a lot of "Ooh, Civil War, lookit" elements -- it felt like the majority of Connor's story consisted of that. He clearly didn't care (it looked like when he was being bossed around by some soldier he always had this expression of just doing it because it had to be done) and I cared even less. For once, the historical story of an Assassin's Creed was boring and disinteresting, making me prefer the modern one. The modern one which sort of just dangled you along for an underwhelming ending. And then Connor's people just sort of up and left regardless. I saw a trophy for epilogue missions. There were two. Worse, the second one requires an internet connection. Useless.

I honestly did not bother with 80% of the side missions -- I have three recruits, level 1. Didn't see any point to them, really, not even the homestead improvements.
Still, the game was good fun. I plan to go back and do all the navel missions, and probably the rest. I don't see why Connor gets all the hate though, I quite like him. He's a little naïve, but that can't be avoided. I'm guessing it's mostly the dudebro fedora group who are attacking him because he's not a bit of a whore like Ezio was.

Lego LotR is an entirely different creature. I don't know how to describe it beyond 'worth the money'. It's, believe it or not, open world and it's a charming semi-lego, shrunken version of Middle-earth. There's a big big variety of characters. The gameplay is about what you'd expect. Two-player makes it even more entertaining, especially when you start unlocking things that happen to be mischief enablers.

And I just tallied up my Skyrim saves and across three characters I have 660 hours -- 390 on one character. And two plats + almost all dlc trophies. That's enough

I had a similar reaction to AC3. I felt the story was very weak and was like "let's just try to put as many historical events we can in and maybe built dome kind of story around that."

However, I think I was won over by the environments. Boston and New York are not nearly as interesting as Renaissance Italy, but I really liked the new detail and how NPCs were grouped. I did not like how using the rooftops in Boston and New York is more trouble than it's worth, but fortunately that's been corrected in Liberation and ACIV. (And for me it was fun to be able to wander historical versions of places I've been x3)

But I really enjoyed the frontier. It's beautiful and I love running through the trees. It was a nice vchange from previous games of lonesome countryside and dark ancient tombs and whatnot. This felt very fresh.

And I love Connor for his naïveté and really super seriousness. He was rather intense, and I completely agree with you about the reasons why he's hated.

And I've been considering getting Lego LotR for a long time now. Unfortunately, my PS3 is a step away from YLOD. Crashes on the menu screen.

Yeah the story was weak, agreed. Wasn't nearly as interesting as the others.

But that Connor. I'm with Paw on loving him for his naïevité and seriousness. x3 also agreed here as well on the reasons he is hated.

and dem environments. the Frontier was beautiful. and yes, climbing/running those trees <3
Also I really enjoyed the ships/the movement on the water out at sea. I remember the storm in the beginning being pretty awesome too. (though it's been quite a while now since I've seen it.)
(Btw, I noticed you didn't say anything about Haytham, IBeat x3)

Also, Liberation and ACIV <333 Using the rooftops was indeed better in those in the cities. I actually think Liberation's is the best. Much easier to move around/grab onto things.

I actually meant to mention Haytham, but forgot. I like him way more than I thought I would, but at the same time, jerk templar, but at the same time, he was basically kidnapped and brainwashed into going templar after Edward's death, wasn't he? Still kind of a jerk though. I like Ziio way more ("Are you touched in the head?").
I understated how much I like Connor in the other post, and agree. He probably has the best morales of the assassins we've played so far, and he seemed to try and keep focused on his goal. Also bit cute. Also he's not that slight bit overdramatically presented like past assassins. He just seems much more realistic and reasonable, but straight to the point. And the naïvity is a nice believable touch too.

I haven't done that much exploring yet (read: any), to the point that you can see exactly where I've been by the narrow paths of discovered area on the map. Amazingly, exploring is another thing I neglected to do. Must have like 4 viewpoints in each city and none in frontier.

Also been back on XIII-2. I actually quite like Caius. I can't remember the last time a Final Fantasy villian had a real purpose to their actions. He's messing with, er, time, because he's more than had enough of watching Yeul, who's destined to die early in every incarnation and who he's supposed to be defending, die hundreds of times.
Chocobo racing is too simple. The game's still got the weird extremely easy difficulty with very-powerful-bosses thrown in when you don't expect -- most optional.

Jerk x3 yeah he kinda was. but yeah I still like the guy too. (I figured you would as well :P)
Also, Ziiooo

And wow, you should really get to that exploring :o (especially in the frontierrr.)

As for XIII-2, I'm still only slightly interested in it. (Though, some of your talk of it raises my interest a bit. Caius does sound pretty cool.) I'm still not in any hurry to get it. x3

Yes yes, I call Haytham a jerk but half jokingly. He was quite entertaining, actually, a bit charming. Kind of an idiot when finally catching up to Ziio. Hah.
He actually reminded me of someone -- had a rather familiar vibe. I'm at a loss as to who though.

Connor's still better overall. I /did/ notice that they tried to mirror Haytham by putting Connor in a similar tricorne when they were working together, or around that point, I can't remember clearly.

I've since started AC4 and have 26~ hours clocked. I wish it'd taken longer to get to the point of fighting level 60 man-of wars.
What's Kenway's Fleet? Since it's online (stupidly) like the extra missions in AC3 I can't access it, but I'm assuming it's similar to the naval contracts with the Aquila or something. In any case my fleet is full of man-of-wars since that's all I'm adding.
4 is a ridiculous amount of fun compared to its predecessor. I never even noticed that the things missing from 3 were missing until I found them in this game.
Edward's slightly a jerk but very fun to play -- keep hearing Bard talking though. It's the accent. If I had to pick from any of the assassins (besides Aveline who wins by default) it'd be Connor. He's much more reasonable, has a better temperment, is infinitely
better-behaved and not as blindly selfish as, well, most of the other assassins. Also he has the broadest shoulders of any AC protagonist that I know of.

Took a while to get used to the new interface being way up there in the corner. Bah. I find swimming to be a bit... testy? Do you really steer with the camera or am I just doing it wrong?

Now that I'm used to the engine Edward looks exactly the same as in the cg trailer, if not slightly gaunter. Due to that scraggy stubble he's got and the gauntness he looks a LOT older than he is in certain lighting. If I understood correctly he's 22 when the game starts and where I am now (just helped out Blackbeard with the man-of-war), sequence 5? he's like 25.

Also I found the Stealth Outfit. Hyeh hyeh hyeh
Spoiler: click to toggle

After seeing so many people complaining about Connor's endgame haircut I din't see what the fuss was about. It looks great.
And in AC4, how long did it take you guys to pick that 'James' was really 'Mary'? I noticed nearly immediately, but I'd heard one of the cast was in disguise quite a while ago. The voice was the first giveaway.

ALSO. SHAUN AND REBECCA. COURIER. COFFEE GUY. JOHN FROM I.T IS ASSASSIN PROBABLY?
When I first explored the lobby I thought the coffee guy looked a lot like Shaun. I've never been so happy to hear those voices. Shaun's got the most reaction -- I yelled. Also they seemed to respond to the fact that I spent half an hour hacking every available computer before delivering the thing.

And yeah, don't get XIII-2 unless you can get it on bargain bin like I did. It's worth it for $8, but not the price it had at release ($95).
