(besides Aveline who wins by default)
Having played Liberation, she may even win by merit. She was awesome. Though actually I think Connor is still my favorite (possibly as a reaction to all the hate.)

I think nobody hates this series more than its online fans.

Also, I can't wait to replay AC4 on an HD TV. Mine died some time ago, so I played AC4 on an old TV that could not do it justice. I could tell how beautiful it was, though. Can't wait.

I don't know how much of it was the TV, but I found Edward to be really weird looking, especially when light his hitting him on the front. His stubble suddenly turns into a scraggly beard (and makes him look kinda old)

Aveline and Connor definitely are the two best. I honestly have a hard time deciding between the two. But I will say about Aveline/Liberation; it was awesome to finally have a female assassin. was a nice change. and they pulled it off nicely I think, making it actually seem like how it would be in a woman's world. the way most of the men treat you. the best part is being able to kill them/kick all their asses in for it, though. (also I freakin love the personas, especially the Lady one. getting to walk around like an innocent rich girl, all fancy while twirling your parasol around. then luring those dumb men in with your charm and stabbing them. so much fun.)
If I were to say she'd win, it might be partly because of her being female and having that change, but she's also a really awesome character too. but so is Connor... Gah idk. it might be a tie. For now.

As for Edward, he does grow on you more after a while. but as for his appearance, I kinda think he looked strange sometimes too, idk. (Connor looks better)

and IBeat: I noticed that James was Mary very quickly too, it really wasn't hard to tell lol.
(also, I yelled when I saw Shaun too x3)
As for the swimming, it seemed a bit challenging, though you get used to it. I actually quite liked it. Have you guys done/have you been doing all the underwater shipwrecks? They're so much fun. (also, the scenery and animals are gorgeous.)
and as for the camera/steering; the left analog was for steering and right moves the camera, iirc?
Also IBeat, have you encountered the Legendary Ships yet?

I'm not really sure about the Kenway Fleet thing. I forget if I even did it, though I'm thinking not.

Also, I thought the Connor haircut at the end of III was awesome too. (and very appropriate for him)

I just reread the posts from the 27th and Paw, you should really back up your PS3. Really soon. Or at least copy the saves you care about to a USB.

About AC3's environments, the Frontier is definitely the star of the game, but not without competition from the cities. The annoyingness of free-running is I think due to how sprawling Boston and New York are, but it felt like there were just too many broken paths.

Also the almanac pages.

The tree-climbing feels incredibly fluid and natural and I admit I didn't expect it to be so smooth but hey, it is. The wolves and bears make it kind of dangerous, too.
And yes! So much detail. It seems like just wandering about and watching the world move about was encouraged. I saw elk rutting and even spotted one standing at the edge of a cliff roaring. Wolves chasing deer, people doing all sorts of things in the cities, it's all so important to that detail.
The snow was annoying though. Whenever winter swung around I'd have Connor jump constantly through deep areas of snow. Connoroo.

After my post about not exploring I got into it in attempt to finish as much as possible before starting 4 and actually got back that rhythm that got me to near-plat the other games. Those fast travel points really help speed things up don't they?

Also it sounds like you guys got Liberation HD. So it's as at home on PS3 as the demo suggests? How is it? I haven't managed to pick it up yet (iirc isn't it like $80? A good $20 dearer than the other remasters?).
And, uh, does the hour of Aveline gameplay in 4 tie into Liberation directly?

The costume element sounds... interesting. I tried a little of it in the demo. Are there only the three costumes?

Yeah, I've taken on all the Legendary ships and just took out the twins the other day. I didn't get the reward for one of them though.
Just recently finished all the dive spots, actually. Shame there's only seven of them. About the swimming I meant Edward only seems to move in the direction the camera's pointing. Otherwise he just floats there uselessly.
That ramming ship is a beast. It's only a brig. A BRIG!
I can't find the white whale harpoon spot. Been looking for it for like 20 hours while I ran missions. Where the shit is it?!

And a little old? Sometimes Edward looks double his age. It's ridiculous. The engine clearly needs more fine-tuning. It could just be how they had to adjust the settings for PS3 as opposed to PS4. I'll get back to you guys on that in September when I get my PS4 and play Black Flag on there.

And Paw, I had to play MGS4 and a host of other PS3 games on a 20" crt. It wasn't until FFXIII rolled around that we got a HDTV. The difference in clarity alone was a big jump.

I would've just posted this in the Dragon Age thread, but Bioware detailed preorder bonuses and deluxe edition inclusions for Inquisition, including two mounts.
One of them is the bog unicorn. There was a lot of speculation as to what a 'bog unicorn' looks like, maybe something scaly and stumpy. Unicorns in Thedas seemed a bit odd.
Then they put a picture of it. And it's the best.

Already taken care of. Got all my saves except for AC2, which doesn't let you copy them. But that's a short game, so whatever. I was mostly concerned for games like Fallout 3 and Skyrim and Oblivion.

As for AC3, the other problem with cities is just how wide the streets are. You get up on the rooftops and you're just sort of stuck there (and the damn guards at the guard post have like assassin-sensing vision and just spot you fucking instantly).

Liberation was great. Shorter than the main games, for obvious reasons, but works very nicely on the PS3 in terms of playability. The costume dynamic (and yes, there are only three) is sort of interesting, but ultimately not game changing. The Lady costume is fun, though, since you just walk around in a big old dress and lure guards into secluded areas and stab them. Or later on you get a parasol that has a hidden dart and that's always fun xD

And yeah, just the three costumes. And the story basically chooses which one you wear for individual missions, but otherwise you can change to whichever you like at a dressing room.

Also going to just say that the bayou is fucking beautiful. Really enjoyable location. AC games are fast becoming more about natural environments than cities, it seems. As long as both are good, I'm cool with that. New Orleans doesn't offer much visually that AC3 didn't have (same era), but it improved the city design because getting around is not a pain in the ass.

Aveline is a great protagonist (everything Drake said is true xD). Honestly, I expected her to kinda be annoying or boring (no, not because she's a woman, just something about her assassin design irritated me and I made a judgment x3), but she's probably my second favorite protagonist in the series.

As for price, I'm not sure if PSN also charges more for games in Australia like everyone seems to do, but for here Liberation was cheaper than a regular PS3 game, due to less content. It was really cheap, like $20. I was surprised by that.

Her thing in AC4, which I actually just realized I never finished, is set after Liberation, I think. Not sure. But Connor's section in Liberation is enjoyable xD

Lastly, about white whale stuff, I wouldn't know. Even if they're just virtual, I can't bring myself to kill the whales x3. I did one shark mission and decided it wasn't so fun that it was worth graduating to whales, so instead I just look for them for that rush of excitement (every time!) when they breach nearby =D

Yeah the AC3 cities were a pain. (and agreed, mostly because of those wide streets and broken buildings.)
Also YES, THOSE GUARDS WITH ASSASSIN-LIKE SENSES. God that annoyed me.

As for Liberation; Yes I have HD as well. Like Paw said, it plays very well on the PS3. I'm not sure about the PSN prices over there either, but yeah I got mine for around $20 too -and actually it came with Freedom Cry also. (which I have yet to play) Paw iirc yours came with that too?
Anyway yeah, the costumes are interesting. I don't much care for the Slave one, honestly. and as I said, the Lady one is fun. (and oh yes! How did I forget to mention the hidden dart gun in the parasol!? I love that xD)

Also while we're on the subject of Aveline/AC, I thought I'd show this awesome art +_+

and mmmm yes, the bayou. <333 Such a gorgeous place. (and so far the most fluent/fun place for tree-running)
and indeed, the city location isn't a pain in the ass like AC3.

as for Aveline's AC4 thing, I know I played it but I forget a lot... but yeah I'm pretty sure it's after Liberation, too. (also Paw yes, Connor in Liberation xDD)

I don't even remember the locations of the whales and sharks in 4 so I'd be no help. (yet again) ^^; but yes, I mostly just watched the whales same as Paw. (Also speaking of whales, please tell me you guys saw the sperm whale in the underwater locations!)
and as for the swimming, IBeat: ahh I see what you mean. Yeah I remember that about the camera now. that part was kind of annoying.

(Also, Bog unicornnn)

I am now playing Dragon Age Inquisition. I'm too tired to really say much right now, but it's everything I hoped. I love it. I keep trying to spring DD-style; it feels like a mix of Origins, DA2, and Dragon's Dogma plus something else. I'm not out of the opening prologue yet, but I'm probably near it (~4hrs so far, level 2).
It was so worth getting a PS4 for this game.

Here's a picture of my Inquisitor, Rellath. You can see more over in the Dragon Age thread.
Spoiler: click to toggle

The eyes are so realistic that in the CC if you point them to look directly at the camera it's actually kind of unsettling!
I'll have a better summary of thoughts so far tomorrow or day after. I'm tired.
