In the end though, I think the dragon's decision to hide in a cave and wait for the almost-fully buffed adventurers who tried to nuke it was pretty dumb.
Yep, the tactics writeup said that if confronted with many fliers, he retreated to his cave to ambush them in close quarters. Given his speed compared to you guys, though, I agree that such was a bad idea. Though he was one crit away from dropping the tank and making it a rather different fight...

Anyhow, I shall be sure to take this information into account when next you guys fight a dragon. :-P

Hey, that dragon was no joke, Siggie was down 123 (!) Hps when he dropped. Seems like the damn thing was nasty to me.

That's it, I'm not announcing my dragon-slaying spell list beforehand next time. Given that Sig probably would've gone down that turn or the next, I should've cast Grace + move to flank + attack (I think my attack bonus was up to around 14 or so from all them buffs, and I wasn't even in Righteous Might mode) instead of double-healing. After all, a dead Sig is just a Breath of Life spell away from popping up for another smite. :) Come to think of it, my "gishy" cleric has yet to swing his scimitar..heck, the team doesn't even know what properties that toy has yet.

Probably should've thrown the dispel earlier too. Oh well, time to prep a Speak with Dead just to be annoying.

At a +14 attack bonus you would have needed a 29 to hit...

Ouch, maybe not. I was doing my armchair analysis from the Old White in the Bestiary with "only" 31 AC. Didn't realize that Ozzie buffed him up THAT much.

These epic levels are going to be the death of me.

I only buffed HP. Dragons do get Buffs.

And not all of them burrow - some do worse things.

I think it was an "Ancient White" anyway - regardless they *should* be hard to hit - dragon scales are hard (and make great armor !!)

Come to think of it, an unholy flanged falchion would make an excellent carving knife.

Let's see, a great wyrm white dragon has AC 40 and SR 29, but only 362 hp! The breath weapon is only 24d4, which is practically nothing. Sure, it does an average of 123 damage on a full attack against AC 34, but what are the odds that anyone will be in melee range? We could totally have taken this thing!

You can go back and solo it when we're done at the runeforge. I'll prep the speak with dead spell (so we know what to write on your tombstone).
