The old man walked slowly down the illustrious and grand corridor. The floor was made of solid marble, covered in the middle with a beautiful and soft red carpet which muffled the slow steps the man was taking. From the ceiling 15 meters up hung massive and ornate crystal chandeliers. To his left were tall windows, each casting tall rays of morning sunshine upon the opposite wall. To his right the wall was dressed with tapestries and portraits of great men, heroes, long dead but immortalized in oil paints and history. Flanking the man were two young women, both maids, dresses somewhat skimpy to be in the presence of such a man. One carried a platter of silver with the fixing for tea making. The other just walked slowly along side the gentle old man, her hand held politely in front of her. The three stopped at a massive oak double door, each flanked by a sentry. The men were pristine and impeccably dressed in tailored uniforms. The guards saluted the old man, he recognized one, but the other was new. The man walked up to the new guard, the guard stiff, holding his posture and salute perfectly. The old simply held out his hand, after a moment the guard caught on and lowered his salute to nervously shake hands with the old man. He shook the hand slowly, patting the back as his did so and smiling the whole time. He left the guards and entered though the oak doors. The ceiling was as high as it was in the hall, and the walls were decorated much the same. Everything was grand, no expense had been spared in making this room as magnificent as its purpose. There was a long oak table situated in the middle of the room, seated at it were men in dress uniform. They all stood and saluted him, the man finally saluted back. The men remained standing as the old man maid his way around to the far side of the table, one of the maids pulled out his chair and he patted her cheek as he sat down. The otehr maid placed the silver platter down and began making tea for the man. The other men all sat down, making little noise. When the maid handed the old man the cup he took her hand and kissed the back of it, smiling at her. She blushed slightly then the maids left the room, leaving only the old man, and the uniformed men seated with him. Wilhelm Keitel leaned forward slightly and said "Mein Führer, I am afraid we have some disturbing news. I am no expert, so I shall let Wilhelm Krelle explain." The Führer simply nodded still smiling, and sipped on his tea. Krelle "Mein Führer, I must be blunt, the national oil reserves are nearly depleted. We have begun rationing, but at current consumption our supply will be gone within a year." Again the Führer nodded, implying to continue. "Our repeated efforts to acquire further oil trade have thus far failed. There are a multitude of reasons Mein Führer. The Canadian invasion of California has sent the continent into turmoil. The American nations seem vigilant for war, and trading away their oil reserves is not prudent for them. Further, the Aragonians have yet again increased their tolls through the Strait of Gibraltar. These tolls are cutting into profit margins, and making ongoing operation difficult for oiler owners buying from the Middle East." The Führer put down his tea cup and calmly looked to Kietel. Kietel took the Führer's lead and spoke "Mein Führer, we need to consider drastic action. I recommend we consider Operation Wüste Belagerung." Operation Wüste Belagerung (Desert Siege) is a military operation which has been in the works for almost a decade. It was initially considered when the German Renewal Program was first initiated, but was dismissed as being unnecessary at the time. The operation is a planned invasion of Egypt and Arabia. It's goal is to acquire the vast oil reserves of those areas, providing cheap oil to fuel the Renewal program. Over the years the operation has mutated and been considered and dismissed a multitude of times. Now it seems that there was no other choice. The Führer lowered his head for a few moments and considered the option. He trusted Kietel, and Krelle, as well as all of his leaders and officers. Operation Wüste Belagerung would bleed the Middle East, and give vitality to his Beloved Reich. There was truly no option for the Führer, the operation would commence. He looked up, to Keitel and nodded his approval. Keitel "Very good Mein Führer, I shall begin composing the Afrika Korps immediately." The Führer just nodded and waved his hand at them, dismissing them. The men all stood and saluted, the Führer just continued to wave them off. The men left and the maids entered again. One of them collected the tea, the other helped him up. He was all smiles with the ladies and patted the cheek of she who helped him up. The Führer was always the proud father to all the youth of his Beloved Reich, and the brother to the elderly. Edited by Drake, Jun 9 2011, 02:13 PM.
