Trieste, Piazza della Liberte; Greater Croatia Each of us has a natural right — from God — to defend his person, his liberty, and his property! Audible cheers could be heard throughout the town square, and more than a few people stood around; transfixed by the message. Their lives, their sweat and their right to pursue their own political goals? What madness did this man speak of? "I do not dispute their right to invent social combinations, to advertise them, to advocate them, and to try them upon themselves, at their own expense and risk. But I do dispute their right to impose these plans upon us by law—by force—and to compel us to pay for them with our taxes!" Ah, taxes, that was something they could get behind. The increasingly strenous taxes put upon the people by the Monarchs grand, militaristic, ambitions was a reality that hit hard every year. Taking food off their table and from their children. "We are nevermore the clay to the Croatian potter!" Trieste's Italians could always get behind some racial rabble rousing. As the words floated down from the central plaza, they complimented the beautiful mosaics. The handsome, cultured faces. All Italian, and willing to show those damnable Croats what real men were made of. "Thus, I give you, my friends... My fellow individuals! The means to capture your rights." And with a flourish the men unleashed a literal tidal wave of small arms. He pointed to the surrounding city, "seize what you have created, capture which is your's!" ![]() Edited by Max, Jun 9 2011, 01:38 AM.
