General Rules:

1. You must have a registered forum account in order to participate in the roleplay.
2. All members of the roleplay community are expected to visit and check the forums regularly, in order to keep up with updates and roleplay news.
3. You must respect and abide by the roleplay rules, and if broken, be prepared for the consequences.
4. Staff decisions are final, and are not to be questioned. The staff are here to make sure that the roleplay continues to run smoothly, and it is always in their best interest to improve the roleplay in any way possible.
5. Roleplayers must have the correct motto whilst roleplaying. The motto can be adjusted to the roleplayer’s preferences, but there must be information on:

• Character’s Name.
• Weapons
• Alias (If any)

We have constructed a motto template if you don’t want to use your own:

[DC] Batman; Utility Belt.

Roleplaying Rules:

1. The roleplay encourages two main types of roleplay:

• Descriptive
• Emote

When roleplaying here, you MUST roleplay in one of the above styles; ‘Spam’ will not be tolerated.

2. Descriptive Roleplay:

Descriptive roleplay is when both roleplayers choose to describe what’s happening in their lines, in more depth than the usual ‘spam’ method. As the name tells you, description is key to this style of roleplay, and due to this, lines will become longer than usual.

Unlike ‘Emote’ roleplay, you are able to hit your opponent with or without their consent. As in, you are able to get your connection line in before your opponent chooses to react; of course, using the descriptive style.

Example:

Ben: *I swing my arm towards your body, the fist aimed exactly towards your nose.*
John: *I take ahold of your oncoming fist, snapping it directly to the right hand side of your body*
John: *The wrist snaps due to the immense force put into the manoeuvre, which results in the bone breaking*
Ben: *Whilst my arm’s being snapped, I kick at John’s legs, attempting to distract him long enough to prise my hand free from his grasp*
Ben: *The foot smashes into the knee of John, resulting in his leg crumpling under his weight*
Ben: *My hand would become free from John’s grasp, as I step backwards from John*

The above could be classed as ‘descriptive’ roleplaying, and is what we expect to see in the roleplay when roleplaying in this style.

3. Emote Roleplay:

Emote roleplay is similar to the ‘descriptive’ style of roleplay, but instead of hitting your opponent directly after your initial “attack” line, you allow your opponent to decide the outcome of your movement. This makes roleplay a lot fairer for those who are slower at typing than someone else, and ‘emote’ is usually the roleplay style used when taking part in IMPORTANT, mainstream scenes.

Example:

Ben: *Flipping up into the air above your head, I’d extend my leg out towards your head whilst pasting over you.*
John: *Noticing the foot come, I grab ahold of it, using all my strength to pull you back down into the floor behind me.*
Ben: *After being grabbed, there’s nothing I can do but let my body be slammed into the floor.*
John: *As you move to the floor, the immense pressure placed on your back would prove too much if you hit it*
Ben: *Knowing I’ll be done for if I feel the full force of the pull, I quickly tap into my ability, teleporting away from the spot I’m in, whilst in mid air.*

When looking at the above example, it’d seem like the two roleplayers were taking it in turn to type a roleplay line, which resulted in people watching the scene to imagine exactly what was going on, as it was happening. A great advantage to ‘emote’ roleplaying is that there is no need to rush your lines. You can carefully go through your line, making sure to look out for typing errors, incorrect punctuation, ect. Without holding up the scene, (unless you are a REALLY slow typer).

4. Do not God-mode! God-mode is when your character has one or more ‘invincible’ properties, which in turn, means that your character cannot be beaten. Something like “unbeatable” or “immortal” would be classed as God-mode in this roleplay. If the character you choose to roleplay has one of these properties within their abilities, we will provide a time in which you can prove to us you can roleplay that certain character without taking advantage of the god-mode properties it carries.

5. Do not Meta-game! Meta-gaming is when you find out some information OOCly (Out of character), and you use that information ICly (In character).

Example:

Ben: Hey John, did you hear that Batman has a new side-kick? His name’s Robin!
John: No! I didn’t know that! Thanks for telling me.

*Goes iC*

John: Batman, I heard you had a new side-kick? Robin or something?
Batman: How did you know..?

Ect.

6. Usually, before a scene you decide which roleplay style you want to use, and if a character in the scene is going to die. If one of the roleplayers disagrees with their character dieing, then they CAN NOT be killed in that scene. Both roleplayers must agree on the terms of the scene!

7. As long as you abide by the above rules when roleplaying, we won’t have any problems with you, and you’ll be able to enjoy your time in the roleplay!
