It was an unusually bright day in Minrathous, the capital of the Tevinter Imperium, with the sun blazing down upon the market. There were a few Magisters about, probably of only lower level nobility, where as slaves and workers were aplenty buying goods for their masters. Such a sight was always one to behold as, while slaves weren't any sort of rarity in Tevinter, it was easy to tell which belonged to different Magisters based on tattoos, piercings and other such bodily markings that made them stand out. Some of the Templar trainees that Krious grew up with thought the practice itself was wrong but it was his firm belief that if something was wrong then a law would be made to prevent it and clearly there was none. Perhaps the biggest problem, for most people anyway, was the excess heat being generated by wearing armor out on a day like this. Krious was an oddity in that he was usually cold during weather most would find hot but even on a day like this he was clearly showing the effects of the heat. His determination and persistence wouldn't give in though as he had decided to use his day off to check out different types of runes he could use to augment his Templar issued gear once he was officially allowed into the order. Despite the fact that he didn't actually have any real amount of coin to buy the runes their designs were always intriguing. |

It was a warm day in Minrathous. A beautiful day always brings in a crowd at the local market. Today Gorik would not be searching for lyrium again, but instead he would try and get rid of some of his fake runes. It is time that his charm take charge instead of his skill because…well he has none. He prepares himself by first taking a good long bath, of which he has not done in some time, and then proceeds to braid his beard, much like how many humans would wear a tie or a suit. He dresses up in simple armor that looks a lot better than t is really worth, which he got as an inheritance from his father, to help increase sales. He then carries his large axe with a bag full of pretty stones that will be passed off for runes, though no one except for a skilled rune crafter would be able to tell the difference. If he had spent as much time making real runes as these fake ones then perhaps he wouldn’t be so poor. He slings the bag and axe over one shoulder and a few pieces of wood that can be made into a small stand that can be used as his base of operations. As he reaches the plaza it is as he hoped, the heat had brought out a crowd. Now it was time for him to put on the charm. He sets up his bench so that it is in a corner where he can keep an eye on all of his merchandise; his father always told him that doing this would make people think that your good are more valuable than they really are because it appears that you are trying to protect them. Sadly his short stature has gotten the best of him, no one could see him. After he finishing setting up and arranging the “runes” by color and “grade” he stood on top of the table and began to advertise. “Ladies and Gentlemen!” the dwarf bellows in his thick accent “I have surplus runes from Orzammar! I have to sell these runes before I can have enough room in my warehouse to order more, that is why I am selling these works of dwarven mastery to you for only 10 silver! That’s right, half the price of any other runes of this grade!” He hopes that the promise of a deal will strike at least one person’s fancy. He continues to advertise “But wait because everything must go I will be willing to give you half off one rune of your choice when another is purchased. That’s right one for 10 silver or two for 15. I dare you to try and find a better deal!” |
