“So, that’s how it is, sir Troy. Dr. Schneisenbaum has kidnapped the thirteenth villager from here yesterday, and has terrorized us for years now. Several people have attempted to put him to shame, but they have failed because Dr. Schneisenbaum has enlisted the help of several strong mercenaries around the universe. We were hoping to be able to afford to bring in the great warrior, Captain Vint, but he’s presently busy with the war. But to have the captain of the second squad of the same unit Captain Vint was in, we are very excited, indeed.”

The Village Elder seemed to be attempting to compliment me, but it didn’t sound as pleasing as he wanted it to. He seemed to be a bit of an asshole, actually. But my employer I can deal with for a good cause.

“Don’t worry, Chief! I’ll take care of those mercenary punks and then I’ll bring Dr. Snuffaluffagus to justice! One thing, though. I don’t kill weaklings, so I’ll just knock them around a bit and send them on their way. Snuffaluffagus, I’ll bring to the proper authorities, but other than that, I’ll bring them to justice.”

The crowd of villagers were silent at first, but finally erupted with cheers and patted me on the shoulders as I passed by them. The Elder handed me a map through the desert to the furthest place the last scout ever got. I gave it a quick look and folded it and placed it in my pocket. The map would probably come in handy, but I was picking up a few strong ki signatures out there. I’m sure I was not going to have trouble finding these mercenaries, and one of them could lead me to Dr. Snuffaluffagus.

Closest ki signature was about two and a half miles north of the village. Hopefully, Dr. Snuffaluffagus or whatever didn’t hire the services of an android. I wasn’t going to be able to find androids; they were just going to be a surprise; I do love me some surprises. Androids are the one thing I have no qualms destroying. They technically aren’t living things. Synthetic beings; no soul. Bring ‘em on.

“Hey big brother! Whatcha doin all the way out here!?”

HOLY SHIT! That caught be by surprised. I turned to find a little girl, no older than seven.; human, blonde hair. An interesting find in the middle of the desert on an alien planet. Couldn’t read a ki signature on her, because she was so young, it was practically non existent. She was wearing a blue sun dress and carrying a basket of Yardratian Cactus Flowers whish would explain what she was doing out here, but alone was a bit curious.

“Hey sweetie, what are you doing out here all by yourself? Where are your parents? Do they know where you are?”

“Father sent me to collect some flowers for his medicines. It’s not far from here. What are you doing Big Brother?”

“Oh, I’ve been hired by the nearby village to find a criminal and bring him to justice.”

“Oooh I hate bad guys, can I join you? I want bad guys to get beaten up! Are you gonna beat ‘em up?”

“Well, these guys are dangerous, I don’t want you to…” I had to cut it short; somebody was coming… Somebody strong; “…You better hide. It’s going to get dangerous.”

The girl shrugged. “Okay… I’m good at hiding!” She ran over a sand dune and disappeared from vision in time for her to miss being seen by the incoming enemy who came crashing down.

When the dust settled, a giant of a man stood looking around for something. He pulled something out of his pocket and looked at it intently. He looked back up and past me and over toward the dune the little girl was hiding behind. He began walking toward it when I stood between him and the girl… Big mistake.

Guy was about seven feet tall, three hundred and fifty pounds. One of his arms was the size of my body, and unfortunately for me, he finally took notice of lil’ old me standing in his way. He looked down and scoffed. He lifted his tree trunk arm and sent me flying into the mountain of sand beside us.

That fucking hurt, but he was headed right for where that little girl was hiding, so I could be in pain on my own time. I stood back up and charged my the guy and jumped on his back with my arm around his neck and put him in a choke hold.

“Brutii, eh? Nice to meetcha, does this mean you’re one of those mercenaries working for Dr. Snuffaluffagus?”

“Who in the hell is Dr. Snuffaluffagus!?”

“Doesn’t matter what his name is! I could care less what his name is; Kidnapping people is wrong!! You are no better, I don’t care how a mercenary’s life is! I will make you pay!!!”

The Brutii ignored me and kept walking toward where the little girl was hiding. What was his obsession with this little girl? Didn’t matter, I just had to stop him, but this guy was extremely powerful. My aura flared up violently but paler than usual. My muscled bulged and strained. I faded in front of the Brutii and stuck an elbow into his gut and lifted him up and balanced him on it. I tossed him up and flipped forward and did a flip kick to send him in the opposite direction. The Brutti landed with a large puff of blue sand. It was extremely large.

I ran over the dune to find the little girl still hiding like a good girl. She had a big smile. Great! I can’t feel my left arm, and it’s probably broken, and this little girl is playing a game of Hide and Seek. I’m not sure why the big guy is after the little girl, but I needed to take her with me before the big guy got back up from his nap. I know this wasn’t the last time I was going to see this guy.

“Ok, sweetie, come with me and let’s get out of here.”

A dark night on the desert plain. A lone fire. The little girl is staring at me with a curious look; smiling at me like she knew something I didn’t. She probably knew a lot of things I didn’t; I wasn’t the smartest guy around. I looked into the fire. The ki signatures were getting stronger and closing in on us. They knew where we were for some reason. I’ve used Instant Transmission three times now and set up a camp fire twice now, and it looks like they are about to find us yet again. I looked over at the little girl.

“These guys are the best hunters I have ever faced. I’m hiding my ki signature very well, yet I am unable to avoid them. Get ready, we’re about to move again;” I said to her as I stood up and packed the firewood.

“HOORAAAY!!! That move you use is really fun. Poof we’re gone! Best game of Hide and Seek I’ve ever played!”

I blinked at her for a moment. She probably didn’t know these guys were very dangerous. I had to get her out safely. Again I don’t know why they’re after her, but I’m kind of afraid to ask her. We’ll figure it out once they find her. IF they find her… when they find her… I held out my hand and the little girl grabbed it and we disappeared to the next location.

Didn’t take long to set up camp again. Throw a blanket down. Pile wood. Start a fire. By the fourth time around, it’s a pretty simple process. It took me a while, but I didn’t know what this girls name was.

“So what’s your name?” I wasn’t quite sure how to inquire about things with children.

“Sara. Eight years old, blood type: B, home schooled, and adopted by my father;” she said these things with the same big grin she had on her face from the beginning.

“Well, Sara Eight years old, blood type B, home schooled, and adopted by my father, has anybody ever told you that you have a really long name? Mine is Troy. You can call me Captain Troy or Captain, or Troy. You can call me Sally, if it will make you feel better, but Troy is my name. It’s nice to officially meet you.”

The little girl, Sara, giggled. “It’s just Sara, silly! You’re funny, big brother!”

I leaned back against the sand dune behind me. Just as I was starting to relax, I finally realized that the ki signatures I’d been reading had disappeared. I sat up and looked around. Big Boy was standing above me with about four or five dark figures standing behind him; smaller, but I wasn’t able to recognize them through the shadow Big Boy was making.

“Awww, Game over! You found us!”

“What the hell are you talking about? What game? We’re here to rescue you from this kidnapper!” the large Brutii said pointing at me.

Me? A kidnapper? I’ve been a lot of things in my life, but kidnapper was never one that made that list. The fact that I was being accused of such a thing, was the most insulting thing… And may have been true. Now that I think about it, I wasn’t sure why they were looking for this girl, but I didn’t ask. Maybe I was, in fact, the bad guy assuming these guys were working for Dr. Suffaluffagus. Big Boy didn’t seem to know who he was.

“Uh, I think I may have made a mistake…” As I was saying this, the shadowy figures walked into the light. They were pretty damn powerful as they stopped hiding their ki signature from me and were showing me what I was in for should I put up any sign of resistance.

Four of them. Three male Saiyans, one female Saiyan; I would have been more interested in this woman if she hadn’t been incredibly terrifying. She was hotter than Lacy, and probably twice as strong as Lacy too; which was pretty strong, by the way. Pushing me to the limits for sure, and she had friends who were Saiyan, no less. One on one, I could probably stand a chance to take them out, but all at once, I knew I didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell. I put up my hands and backed off slowly. Sara managed to cut the tension.

“Hey, Maricus calm down, me and big brother were just playing! You don’t have to use that face. He’s a good guy. I think he thought he was protecting me from you.”

“That’s it exactly! I’m sure you could understand my concern; given how you… you know… Look?”

The Brutii glared at me and then managed to see where I was coming from and shrugged off my obvious insult. Finally a bit of the tension lightened up as the saiyans and the lady lowered their killing intent and started to walk back into the darkness of the desert. The human lady looked back and I think I saw a smile come across her face before she disappeared. The Brutii reached out his hand and Sara climbed up his arm and on top of his shoulders. She gave me a wave good bye as the Brutii carried her into the darkness behind the saiyans and the hot lady who seemed to be interested in yours truly.

That was close. I just about shat myself when I was staring down not only the Brutii, but also the three Saiyans and the human woman who was stronger than Lacy; Lacy gives me enough problems. Speaking of her, I should see if she’s doing alright, but before I check in on her, I’ve got to do something about this exhaustion that has suddenly come across me I sleep so much better when I feel relieved that I didn’t die when I should have by all rights have died. It’s the ultimate gamble, and that’s incredible.

Well, with that problem solved, all that was left was to continue on with my mission. Though the strong Power Levels I was reading was now mixed up with the people searching for Sara. I needed a map or something… Eureka!!!! I forgot about the map that the Village Elder gave me. I stumbled to my bag still a little scared of the four Saiyans and the Brutii that were very mean and rude… and strong… and did I mention they were scary?

I pulled the map out and looked it over. I studied it a bit and realized that I had no idea where North was in this world. I took a shot in the dark and picked a star and declared that the North Star. I headed what would be Northwest and expected to find the first bunker after about three and a quarter miles. I was wrong in my calculation. I found the bunker in two and three quarter miles. I approached mildly cautious, as there was a chance that the strong Power Level I was reading wasn’t a friendly, and wouldn’t be happy to find me there.

So I kicked in the door and walked in. The person in charge of the bunker was absolutely not happy to find me there, and he was a familiar face. One of the Saiyan warriors I was confronted with at the camp was standing up from his meal and fired a ki blast at me. It was moving extremely fast; I barely had time to knock the blast to the side. And once I did knock the blast away, I had to quickly recover and block a punch, and we were off. I blocked his attacks as they came in. I ducked a kick and grabbed his base leg and took him down with a tackle. I held his arms down and put my knee into his back.

“Where am I? Why are you here!? I’m searching for the laboratories of Dr. Snuffaluffagus this map lead me here!”

“Who the Hell is Snuffaluffagus!? My boss’ name is Schneisenbaum! Get it right for crying out loud!”

“I don’t give a shit what his name is! I thought you worked for Sara’s dad as a bodyguard!”

The Saiyan jarred himself loose and jumped up. I backed up a few steps and took a stance. He took a stance as well and looked for an opening that I wasn’t giving out any time soon. Was Sara’s father Snuffaluffagus? I never did ask her who her father was. How many people lived in the Desert out here, anyway? Let alone Humans living in the Esahu Desert of Yardrat… I’m not that smart…

Whoops. Guy found his opening. I took a punch to the left side of my face. His fist felt like it was made of steel, or something stronger. Holy cow, Saiyans were on a whole other level from the random androids I’ve faced. I dodged the next attack, and I was on with the fight. I kneeled down and spun around to sweep kick, and fired a ki blast at him like he was falling. I fired a barrage of ki blasts following the first one. The Saiyan stood up and took the blows like they weren’t affecting him any longer. Ki shield! I charged in, but he was already prepared and stepped forward, digging his elbow into my gut. I almost let my dinner out of my mouth, but throwing up during a fight is way not cool. I swallowed it back down and managed to dodge a flip kick by inches. I punched back and spun around for a roundhouse kick. He blocked it and spun his left fist toward the back of my kick. I grabbed the back of his wrist and brought my free elbow down on his captured elbow. This is where things went my way. I successfully dislocated his elbow. He roared in pain, but the Saiyan blood put it past him fast as he continued punching at me. His right arm, the one I injured, was substantially slower, but his left arm was still in top form, I had been given enough time from the right arm to prepare to stop the left arm. I wrapped both arms around his left arm and flipped forward pulling him down to the ground and shattered his left shoulder. The roar from the Saiyan made the last one sound like a weak baby’s cry.

I stood back up and reached for the back of the Saiyan’s neck and put him down to sleep his pain away. I tied him up and left him to his unconscious self. I walked around the laboratory for any clues as to where the other labs may have been. I sifted through the things on his desk. I found the a finger painting saying ‘I love my daddy’… This was certainly going to make it difficult for me. I don’t like looking like the bad guy and that’s the only way this was going to finish. I was going to take her daddy away. Even if it was justice for all that he has done, to that little girl, I was going to be known as the evil man that took her daddy away from her, and that left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I folded the paper and put it in my pocket. Underneath the finger painting, I found a document addressed to one of his other labs, It was West of here. I read ki signatures and there were two people at the lab that I was picking up. Wasn’t the Brutii, so they were both Saiyan. That was going to make it difficult. Saiyans were brutal, I got the two loose teeth to prove it. I did a quick run through the lab to see if any of the missing persons were in the lab, there were none. Just some local wildlife specimens; already dead and dissected. No people. I headed out the door and headed West.

I was about half way through saying my prayers on my way over to the second laboratory when my communicator went off. Lacy was calling in from Namek. I think I recall telling myself I was going to call her, but I fell asleep and then I didn’t call her. That’s how things usually work out. I’m sure she was pissed off. I’m definitely not answering that call…

RING! Oh look! My communicator’s ringing.

“Hello?”

Shit. I’ve done it again!!!

“So you are still alive? When are you going to come to Namek?”

“You’re pretty mellow I was expecting you to scream my ear off.”

“Somehow, with you being on a completely different planet, my stress level has really relaxed. That along with the fact that the people here are really Zen, I’ve relaxed quite a bit. Nothing to report about androids being on Namek. What have you been up to?”

“I’ve fought more androids than you have. And we had a report of androids being on Namek. What’s the deal with that?”

“I’m actually calling about that. It appears that the report that there were androids on Namek was, in fact, false. They have reason to believe that the Red Ribbon Army has a spy in our ranks. High enough to make a false report and have some clout. Our people are actually looking into it right now.”

“Well that is interesting. Do you think that’s linked with me running into androids in my hotel room? And me being sent out to find two Dragonballs. Isolation and attack?”

“But you were ordered to go to Namek with me, weren’t you?”

“I was, but I ran into those two guys in the desert the night before, remember. Those guys could have been sent to find me specifically. It’s not too outrageous to suspect something was up.”

“But if that were the case… Then the one who sent you here was-”

“Let’s speculate later. In the mean time, this conversation never happened, Lacy. I’m in the middle of a mission and I have to go against two Saiyan Mercs that aren’t of the weak variety. And once I’m done with them, there’s another Saiyan woman, and a Brutii out there somewhere, so I’ve gotta focus.”

“…What the hell kind of mission are you on right now?”

“I’ll call you later, babe. I’m almost there;” I ended the call early. I was too busy to think that Captain Vint was a Red Ribbon spy.

I put the communicator in my pocket and approached slowly at the next lab. It was slightly bigger than the last one and that would explain why there were two guards at this lab. I disappeared and reappeared in the lab specimen room. I found a few of the missing villagers in cages. They saw me and were about to cheer, but I stopped them before they could.

“My name is Troy, I’m here to save you, but there are a couple of strong Saiyan enemies here, so you’ll have to stay quiet before they find me. I’m going to open the cage and you can use Instant Transmission to return to your homes. You’ll have to be quick, because I’m sure alarms are going to go off when I open this door. I’ll hold them off as long as I can while you escape;” A long explanation, but I whispered and the villagers understood everything I explained.

I quickly ripped the door off the cage and sure enough, the alarms sounded. The villagers escaped the special cage that suppressed their latent powers of Instant Transmission, and the villagers quickly began searching for a ki signature in their respective villages. The door flew open, and the two remaining Saiyan men walked in and went to try and stop the villagers from escaping, but I cut them off and began attacking both of them at once. My adrenaline pumped and pushed me to my limits. I was getting stronger as I connected with punches. Catching them off guard made this fight mine. I was connecting all of my blows and they were taken back by how much stronger I was getting with each connecting blow. I hardly remember how the fight went, but it was in an incredible match. If I had enough words to spare it, I could have described it in a much better fashion, but let’s fast forward to the finishing blows.

I spun around and kicked the left side of one of the Saiyan’s face and launched him through the wall of the laboratory. And once I spun around completely, I knelt down and dodged my opponent’s jab and countered with an uppercut. Knock out.

I was catching my breath when I looked over my shoulder and saw the Saiyan woman had just arrived. Great I felt like my legs were made of Jello, and now I have to face off against this attractive warrior woman that was about as strong as I was in top form. But I was never one to back down from a fight; I took my stance and was clearly showing fatigue. She saw it, too.

“Hehe. You don’t have to worry, cutie, I’m not here to fight you. I admire those with… muscles and spunk. You’ve got plenty of both.”

“Uh, okay. So why ARE you here?”

“I’m here to show you where Schneisenbaum’s located right now. I never really was a supporter of what he did, and I want to think of this as retribution for all that I’ve done for money…”

“Very well, where is he located?”

“Same place as Maricus. He’s the toughest opponent you’ll face to date. He’s an incredible fighter, and surprisingly fast for his size. You’ll definitely have to face off against him to get to the Doctor. I’ll show you where they are, but after that, I’m going to leave this place for good. Go back home; maybe join the fight with the Tuffle Legion; make a decent living.”

“That’s nice, but what’s your name?”

“My name is Peace. It’s nice to meet you.”

It didn’t take long to find the place that Peace showed me on the map and then pointed the direction for me. So nice. Now she’s on Vegeta enlisting in the Northern Alliance. But as for me, I’m facing off against the bastard that has sent me swimming in blue sand on many occasions. We found ourselves standing outside a mansion in the middle of the desert. The Brutii was a little perturbed. I had decimated his mercenary squad of Saiyan in a matter of hours. He was giving off a pretty mean aura drenched with killing intent. He stood across the sand covered battlefield and glared.

“So, this is where Schneisen glubben Stubben lives? Fancy living in the middle of a desert. Hard to believe he hasn’t been found in a Posh mansion like this.”

“Anyone who finds it, doesn’t live to tell about it… Enough words, let’s get this fight over with.”

“Suit yourself…”

I began to surround myself in a pale blue aura and my muscles began to bulge past their limits. The adrenaline began to make my pain from stressed muscles go away. I charged the Brutii, and I began the fight with the strongest person I have ever fought. I went in close and stuck my elbow into his ribs and ducked back to recover for a kick and prepare for his attack, but he was faster than I anticapated. His tree trunk arm had already stuck me in the chest and his left arm came across the right side of my face. I saw red for a minute, then white, then when I recovered, I barely had time to duck and avoid the next attack. I needed to up my speed if I wanted to fight this guy.

He threw a kick and I stepped back to avoid the upswing, and stepped forward to catch it before the downswing. Unfortunately, I didn’t stop the downswing. He brought his weight down on me and brought me to my knees. I thought I’d tackle him, but the guy’s a walking tank. I’m learning how NOT to fight a Brutii right now. I finally recovered and pushed him up and fired a ki blast at him and jumped up and drop kicked him right in his chest. Maricus stumbled back and fell to a knee. He looked up just in time to find me coming down with an axe kick and it hit him squarely in the face. He went flat on his back and if you expected me to let him get up, you obviously haven’t seen me do a Stamped Rush on somebody. I buried him in the dirt with a trampling and jumped up and landed on him with an elbow drop.

That’s when I jumped back to catch my breath. The Brutii slowly climbed out of the sand and stopped on his hands and knees coughing. I’d nailed him in the center of his chest with a drop kick and an elbow drop; his heart took a lot of damage. Despite all of the muscles and bones, the Heart is still vulnerable if you can manage to hit it directly. Maricus looked up his eyes were teary and he was still coughing. He stumbled to his feet and took a stance again..

“He’s a criminal! He’ll pay for his crimes. You just sat and watched this? It’s inhumane!”

“It’s a job! I’ve no right to judge. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you, Peace will soon understand why! After I’m done with you, that is!”

“Then I guess I’ll have to end this with you in a prison. Job or not, you are just as guilty as Schupta gupta!”

The Brutii showed a sign of confusion again as I was wrong with the guys name; I took advantage of this and attacked again. I dug my elbow into his chest again and flipped forward bringing my heel down on the back of his neck. Maricus’ eyes went white and he fell face first into the sand. He was out like a light; I was now open to go after Snuffaluffagus and end this all. I turned to face the mansion and made my way inside.

The mansion was pretty fancy. There were a lot of valuable things. Many historic art pieces, painting, sculptures; a brass statue of a dog turd, and that was apparently art. Unreal… I walked into a library study in the west wing of the mansion and had a look at some documents that were laying on the table. He was definitely doing some weird experiments, but it looked like he was working on androids for the Red Ribbon Army; I found a letter written by an officer in the Red Ribbon Army asking for his progress on his research on different model types that he was creating for the Red Ribbon’s war efforts. This now made him a war criminal, this means he’s going to galactic “Pound me in the ass” prison instead of the pansy Yardrat prison. I pulled out my communicator and called for back up to come and pick him up. I activated my signal beacon and left it in the library and took the evidence with me. Then I saw something in the corner of my eye.

On a bulletin board in the library, I saw a newspaper clip from West City on Earth. What brought my attention to this was the picture of a little girl on it. A little girl with blonde hair and wearing a blue sundress… I read the article.

“So, the villagers finally sent a competent fighter to bring me to justice. I hope you’ll understand if I refuse to go quietly;” Schneisenbaum was standing in the entry way with a gun in his right hand and Sara holding onto his left hand.

“What is this…?”

“It’s just as you see. That is, in fact, Sara. My pride and joy…”

“You sick bastard-”

“Leave my daddy alone!!!!” Sara screamed as she ran at me, but it was too late.

I had already fired a beam of ki energy at Schneisenbaum and Sara ran right into it. They met in an eruption of ki energy. When the light faded, machine parts were strewn everywhere. Sara’s face looked down at her mechanical parts.

“Father… I don’t feel anyth…” before she could finish her sentence, she sparked out and deactivated.

I fell to my knees and screamed in remorse. I wept like a baby. It was hard to describe the feelings. Like I’d just killed my little sister.

“No problems. She was just a prototype. I can just make a better one later.”

RAGE! That’s the best way to describe this feeling. I stood up and punched him in the face, knocking him out cold, but I didn’t stop there. I kept pummeling his face until the Northern Alliance soldiers came into the mansion to take him away. Schneisenbaum was still alive, but would be in a lot of pain when he woke up. The soldiers had to drag me off, but before they could, I reached into my pocked and placed a finger painting that said ‘I love my daddy’ on his chest and walked out the door.
