This and Prince of Persia's reviews are made by me. I put them into quote because I copied from my Estonian homepage and translated it.

The old stacking game, made by soviets (Wow, that's the second useful thing the soviets did. Tetris and AK47) published by
Mirrorsoft. Before the grand release, Broderbund USA though "Hey, maybe we should buy the Tetris game and franchise" but Broderbund California's president Ed something said: "Nah, that game won't be that sucessful". Guess who got that fact wrong?

Tetris is a classic game from the end of the 80s. Made by Alexey Pajitnov (E60 prototype) and Vadim Gerasimov (MS-DOS version). Alexey first made it for his friends, but later when it got popular, he sold it.

A random sequence of tetrominoes (sometimes called "tetrads" in older versions)—shapes composed of four square blocks each—fall down the playing field (a rectangular vertical shaft, called the "well" or "matrix"). The objective of the game is to manipulate these tetrominoes, by moving each one sideways and rotating it by 90 degree units, with the aim of creating a horizontal line of blocks without gaps. When such a line is created, it disappears, and any block above the deleted line will fall. With every ten lines that are cleared, the game enters a new level. As the game progresses, each level causes the tetrominoes to fall faster, and the game ends when the stack of tetrominoes reaches the top of the playing field and no new tetrominoes are able to enter. In certain versions, the game can also end if the player is able to get all the way to level 15.

Guinness World Records has awarded the franchise nine world records in the Gamer's Edition. These records include "Most Ported Video Game", and "Game With the Most Official and Unofficial Variants".

The current Guinness World Record for highest score achieved in Tetris is held by Michael Liphuyzen.

In 2010, Tetris had sold 100 millions copies of Tetris ONLY on mobile.
