We are having record cold down here in North Texas. We had one inch of ice and another inch of snow yesterday. The whole town is shut down and there are no snow plows here.
36!

We are also having "rolling power outages" to conserve energy and I'm not happy about it!!!

123!

What's it like where you are?

We've had two nights with temps below zero, I think around -10 the first night and even lower last night--I heard a prediction of -19 on the weather last night. My greatest fear is a power outage in the middle of the night. So far the morning birds are still showing up at the feeder, poor things. 90!

36! I can't believe you went there, Vel--and here I was thinking you were a sweet girl! Just remember, smarty-pants, while climate change/global warming may be putting us in the deep freeze, melting polar caps will be turning California into a tiny island surrounded by lots of water. Pretty and warm, but very tiny.

That's a big one even for Denver!!!! But the city and people are better equipped to handle it than here in Denison. This is day 3 for school closures here and my sister hasn't been to work since Monday. Our friend's pipes burst last night....we feel really sorry for her. Luckily the power stayed on last night, but no guarantees. Will be glad when the ice melts!

That was an "icey" comment, even sounds "cold" hearted. Someone needs to "cool" off. 61!

Oh, sure--now you call out the tropical fruit to torture us further! Is there no end to the crazy climate madness?

All of your chilly allusions notwithstanding, I have warmth in my heart for you, too, Vel!

And so I return to you a banana man of peace--he is, however, a frozen banana man. He's too cold to dance.

The roads are so slick and icy here...it's incredible. Everyone is homebound. And I'm the only one who knows how to drive in it here!!! We are eagerly awaiting warmer temps, but they can't come soon enough.

The roads are still covered in ice!!!!! Argh! No one can go anywhere. My sister has to go to work today though, as she hasn't been since Monday. I guess we'll brave the elements. I don't remember ever seeing such icy roads for so long in Denver. 109!

We got another blast of wet snow today. I like cold weather, but as Patrick Trueman might put it--"I needs me sun!"

Obviously, the frozen banana man of peace I sent Vel didn't help my karma, because we've had more snow yesterday and today, with even more snow to arrive from Monday late into Tuesday early.

So today I set aside my silly flights of fancy and spent several hours working on my duplicate bridge homework. I feel duly punished and hope my new sober approach will hold back the snow gods. Or the dancing banana people.
What/Whoever of the two is responsible.

The great thing about Colorado is it might be freezing today, but could be 50 tomorrow...or vice versa. :-)

Hey...don't mess with Texas! That is one of the all time best marketing campaigns ever. I have never been to Colorado, but I imagine lots of fresh air and outdoorsy activities. Is the cost of living high there? California is very expensive, although the bad economy is causing lots of changes for people.

And yet, doggone it--that's not working today. I'm beginning to feel like I'm living in a continuous loop of the frozen house scene in Dr. Zhivago.

It's a balmy 4 degrees above 0, as I write this post this morning! I just finished a delicious cup of PG Tips tea, along with 2 slices of buttered cinnamon-raisin toast with extra cinnamon-sugar sprinkled on top.

Lucky for me I have 17 DVDs of Velvet's EE specials. Last night I watched the tribute to Wendy Richards presented on the day after her death. It was beautifully done. What a courageous woman she was.

Also lucky for me I'm reading a VERY GOOD book: "The Man From Beijing" by Henning Mankell, one of my favourite authors.
