Oh no, I hope you feel better Scott. Is your sister taking care of you I hope? I haven't heard of them Scott...although I recognize Boots the Chemist of course. I used to go to the ones in Canada. So what is that oil? Has anyone ever tried that pericetimol (sp?) that they are always talking about on EE? Isn't it aspirin with codien or something? One time years ago, when I lived in New York, I was extremely sick. I thought they were going tell me I had a few days to live kinda sick. I went to emergency, almost by ambulance and they said I had Gastroenteritis. The only thing that made me feel better at all, were OXO cubes. I think I must have gotten them back then from my British neighbor. Its a cube of bouillon that you put in a mug and add boiling water too. I could only take in a teaspoon at a time but it gave me my strength back. I used the beef ones, because thats all I had. There were no chunks of meat in it-just clear broth, so I just overlooked it that one time. Now they have chicken ones and also vegetable ones. I saved it for years and years in case I ever got sick again. |

Hi Velvet, i have a lot of oxo cubes, no idea if they are any good anymore ,looong time but cant toss them , loved the cup of BOVRIL as a child with bread cubes inside ,hot of course,, it was a great tonic as the Beef concentrate was nourishing ,, Scott always remember the cuppa tea with lemon and honey and of course the glass of Guinness with milk and sugar added ,,hard to drink but excellent to get your strength back,, hope you feel better |

I'm feeling much better, thanks all! The Lemsip is a hot lemon drink with paracetamol and something for relief of congestion, etc. Yes Velvet paracetamol comes with and without codeine. You can buy the version with codeine over the counter, believe it or not. The amount of codeine in it is smaller than what we would get with a prescription. I usually bring some back...it's great for headaches, etc. I don't think U.S. Customs likes people bringing it into the country, but oh well! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paracetamol The oil is of a eucalyptus variety....a few drops in a tissue will clear your sinuses....powerful stuff! There is an OXO building in London overlooking the river. I know there's a restaurant there, but not sure if it's still the same OXO as you guys are speaking. |

This is a belated "glad you are better" Scott. So that is very interesting about paracetamol. I never knew it was the equivalent of Tylenol, and Tylenol with codeine. Mystery solved. You can get over the counter in Canada as well. justinecase-Guiness with milk and sugar? How much of each? I have never heard of that. What does it do? |

The cold is long gone, thanks Velvet! I never knew you could get paracetamal with codeine in Canada. Sometimes I think I would be better off living in Canada. You can get it in Australia too...not sure about the codeine there though. |

I would never object to living in Canada, as I love it there. You would so love it with all of the Brit influences, even on their money.

Their style of government is more in line with my way of thinking. |
