Great picture--too bad the pie shop is closed. Do you know if the UK is suffering from franchise-itis shutting down mom & pop businesses as in the USA? I have to say I thought of delightful fruit pies when I read your caption--then I saw all the various eel offerings. Duh--of course it's the home of meat and fish pies. I wonder if they do apple and cherry too? |

I'm sure the franchises are wiping out mom and pop's too, but not really sure. I can't remember if they had fruit or not, but remember getting a cheese and onion pie and a Stella Artois for £4. Quite a bargain! It's a shame it shut down...I think there is a chain hamburger joint there, last time I was in Greenwich. Hey alt 0163 does work here!! (Pound sign) |

I'll take some tea and will pass on the jellied and/or stewed eels. Ewww! For some reason when I read "Fresh Pies" all I could picture was Sweeny Todd. |

Yeah, but you gotta try them once. O.K., no you don't. I did try them once just for the experience. I like cockles better! |

Start with Unagi rolls from Tokyo Joes if you want to try eel. Then work your way up.

My cousin Mo's all right but my cousin Zoë, wait till you get a load of her." Ruby: Do you ever say anything nice about anyone?" | |
