Okay, so I realize after today that I've been acting like a bitch lately =v=; The whole political crap is tearing friendships apart, or at least putting them at odds, in my mind. So I wanted to formally apologize, mainly to Foxby, Hannah, Silver, L, and anyone else who was in the America vs. The World argument in both the FOX News and AMERICAAAA topics. I shouldn't have said some of the things I said and I apologize sincerely if I have offended you. It's a flaw of mine, but I don't seem to care for the feelings of others when in political debate.. so I'm sorry. I did some thinking after it kind of died down, and feeling kind of riled, I decided to look up some things. At first it was for banter to get back at arguments but then, during my research, I came across some tidbits about the Olympic Games in Beijing last year. And I kind of realized that the China I support has changed, even within my own definition.. those games, to be hosted in China, was a mark of China's opening to the world, and I realize that I'm still stuck in the close-minded China I grew up in. So I'm going to try and look at things in a slightly new light now, in terms of the West.. having lived here for four years, I've missed a lot of the development that HAS happened in China in such a short time.. and although the threaten of Western media infiltrating our culture, sure, it could happen and I would be very sad if it did.. but on the other hand.. it's come to a point where if China does not fit not only within itself but also with the rest of the world again, we will sink and we will perish. I think I need to find that within myself as well, both as a Chinese and as a member of this forum and the world at large. So in order to commemorate this.. self-discovery of sorts, I offer to you guys this video. It was one of the songs played by the CCT (China Central Television [Network]) across all China before and during the Olympic Games. It reminds me why China wanted to host the games in the first place.. to remind people all across the world, not just the West or the East, that China is still alive and its heart beats strongly. We are a crumbling nation, but we will rebuild ourselves, and we will be strong again, one day. So, here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2XHmXnVSfM&feature=related The title of the song translates to "Red Around The World" in English, and represents the happiness and glory that China and Chinese people felt when we were told we were to host the largest international event on the face of the Earth, and have the ability to reconnect with the many nations we had tried to ignore for so long. To a rekindling of the relationship that is China and America. Long live the superpowers, separated and yet united. 中国和美国万岁! |

*hug* I originally planned to post a second topic ("CHINAAAA, FUCK YEAAAHH") from what I believe is China's side, but I honestly didn't have time. And by the way, for the record, no argument will tear off my friendship with someone unless they choose to stop being friendly about it. I will always love you, my beautiful Horse Day~ Also I'll check out the vid later, I gotta go to school. |

I realize that I didn't take part in the debate, so I'm not entirely sure how much of a right I have to be replying to this and the like but I just want to say that I'm glad that in the end differences have been settled both countries are no longer at each others throats, well at least on here. But the first step is trying. World Peace FTW |
