http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=5008285n I am absolutely disgusted by this. There was a time that I was an extremely devout Christian. I went to a private Christian school for four years, went to church weekly, the whole nine yards. When I see things like this, it makes me ashamed of it. Am I ashamed of believing in the Bible? No. I am ashamed of being associated with people who are so paranoid, that they would rob someone of their freedom. The boy is a Christian, he knows to behave himself, so why don't they trust him to? This school's policy specifically states "no dancing". Why? The Bible has numerous examples of people dancing, the same people who wrote the bloody thing! Idiots like this are the reason I don't associate myself with any church anymore. The church has become so twisted and restrictive, they're afraid to enjoy life. I firmly believe that God doesn't want people to be miserable. |

Theres a reason I'm Atheist. And if there was a god, Im certain that he would not want his children to be restricted by certain events because of the teachings. Besides, nowhere in the bible does it mention anything about not attending these sort of things. |

Me n' Foxby already talked about it, The extremeist of the world really ruins the whole idea of religion. Depending on your beliefs, religion has a large impact or small. I personally think that Religion is just a non fictional story on how humans should live. Bribing humans to live good lives so they can go to heaven, it's merely a story about how to live. Of course, people take things to seriously and just basically too far, with religion we defiently did. True, our laws focus around the bible, but really now? Fighting for God, limiting such trival things because they're 'unholy?' If people stopped believing religion as the actual events instead of what it was made for, a story on how to live and treat your man, Our world would be a better place. In the end, thats what it all boils down to for me. |

Davey boy was apparently pretty light on his feet.
Naturally, you need some sweet tunes to get jiggy with it.
Not only does He approve, He encourages it! Christians seem to forget that one must be self-sufficient. Aiding others is perfectly fine, but you should be strong enough to take care of yourself. The church locks people down and shelters them, so they never learn to be strong. That is a terrible thing to do. Only by being exposed to the world can you grow to survive in it. People who hide in mortal terror of the "secular world" are weak-willed fools. They need to be dropped in the middle of the street and forced to learn how to deal with the world around them. Tabris: The Bible is acctually quite historically accurate. For example, the time of Moses coincides with Egyptian history. Whether or not you believe in God, you must at least admit that these people did exist. |

Yeah, The Bible is historicly accurate, I know that. However, I highly doubt every animal in the world went on a ship or a woman turned to a pillar of salt. Remember, anybody can have a story based on history and set it in the right time or be inspired to write something. |

Let's not get this into a religibate here. xD;; But yes. This isn't really so much Christians going too far, but rather, Christians not going far enough. That is, not even reading the book. I believe the good, actual Christians are the ones like my step-side. My stepdad's not as heavily religious, but my cousins/aunt/uncle go on missions to Guatemala and help people out. They don't swear, they avoid watching things that are too bad, etc. But then there are people that restrict people from... dancing. They're more like the Pharisees than Christians. |

I know of ONE really nutty christian group coming down here - _ - People from some church run by a guy named Fred Phelps. They're protesting our gay/straight alliance at the school, Obama, and at a synogouge. |

You also have to remember you are horribly generalizing here. I am obviously christian, and dance my bloody heart out. This is somewhat like the america rant to me. You're not upset with christians in general. Christians are catholics, Latter Day Saints, Methodists, etc. etc. They all have different beliefs. What you are upsets with is perhaps one type of christian, or something with that nature. I do find it a leeeetle bit offensive when someone disses something I so strongly believe in, so please, be a bit careful with your words on this subject. Just a request! ^^ If you don't, I just won't read it anymore. |

You're misunderstanding me. I may not be the most devout, but I am indeed Christian. I realize there are others like me who find going this far to be wrong. So no, I am not dissing Christians. Rather, I am dissing extremists. To better reword it, I'm saying that this debacle, which was on bloody national television, is what the general public thinks of when they hear "Christian". In essence, they are giving Christians a terrible image. |
