http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCL1zTtXjWk The video explains it on its own. This is something I've been angry at for a while, but really can't do anything about. Just thought I'd make it known. The video contains some graphic footage, fyi. @Joey: The video has footage of some of the things Japan did to Chinese prisoners of war during WWII. >< |

Not quite a rant, but eh. Didn't watch the vid (no graphic plz D: ) but seriously, WWII really WAS a clash of good versus evil. Or at least... good in comparison versus yep, definitely evil. |

Really? Angry about WWII? I dont think that there are any prolong effects. Sure its a bad thing, theres no "Yay War" going on here. (Although I do like the reducing population aspect of it. but thats a whole other story) |

Wow. I'm kinda suprised anyone would be upset about WWII at this point. I didn't watch the video (Rather not see that sort of stuff) but I have no doubt some seriously bad shit happened. The point is, that was a global nightmare. Rather than keep reopening old wounds, it's best to just leave it alone. As long as the world never forgets the lesson learned, the specific events are better left buried. |

There's this girl in my class that's constantly surprised at how horrible the Holocaust was, and cried at the end of "The Boy in Striped Pyjamas." I pointed out later that there's no way an eight-year-old boy would be in a concentration camp (which was Auschwitz in the original book), so it broke my suspension of disbelief right off the bat. |

What?? There were TONS of children in the Halocaust Bobby. You REALLY need to check your facts on this on. That's one of the reasons WHY the holocaust was so horrible. Don't believe me, simply google 'children in concentration camps.' And I wouldn't just be shrugging off the ridiculous pain that so many people had felt in WWII. Yes, it was many years ago, and I don't think we need to hate the people now or hold grudges, but I also think we should be so complacent about WWII. It was a horrible time, and we need to be a bit more respectful. Even in the rant section. |

You'd all be surprised. The reason why a lot of East Asia doesn't get along right now is BECAUSE of WWII events. WWII destroyed China as a country.. we were mauled and tortured by Japan, and that hostility towards the Japanese still exists today. The Koreans wouldn't even allow their own country to be placed in the real "Axis Powers Hetalia" anime BECAUSE of the fact that Japan never owned up to the war crimes against it. ^ yes, you read right. Korea WILL NOT EVEN LET JAPAN MAKE A CARTOON OF THEM BECAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENED IN WWII. So to those of you who aren't Hannah and seem to understand, and especially to Fayt who seems to think there no prolonged effects, THERE ARE D: Asia TODAY is disfunctional almost purely based on those events (now sure there were other things going on too, but the bulk of it arose from war crimes committed by Japan on both China and Korea that now won't allow any of us to get along.) So.. you know, just because America thinks its set in stone because your side is all happy now, doesn't mean it's the same case everywhere else. =\ |

It makes me feel like a really bad person to be laughing at the comments about the past being set in stone and its fine .w. True, I don't feel for a lot of the ones lost. Respect them of course, but I don't really feel for them, but I have a hard time feeling anything these days. not my point. I no little about the effects that WWII on the rest of the world, but think about this. WWII is one of the main reasons America is so fucked right now. my logic? the fact that we ended it with the atomic bomb, thus giving us the mindset, "OH HEY WE'RE THE BEST EVER." which quickly led to the cold war, which we wasted waaaay too much money on. We also made a lot of enemies at that time, like pretty much every leader of the U.S.S.R. during the cold war. Sure, we also helped to rebuild a few countries during the cold war, but then we started the war on communism, and you know what I've noticed about our wars? We win a majority of them, but each one just puts us into even more freakin' debt. Sure, our country is strong, but we're all apparently too stupid to know when we need to stop developing weapons that can kill us all 100 times over. |

I'm not going to witness the video, but I'd like to point out to the people of Emerald Hill that my great uncle lived in a concertration camp when he was a young boy, Around 8 or 9 by the way Foxby. He still remembers the things that went on there and it plauges his mind to this very day... My poor uncle. I take it this video gets a lot of it's footage from Nanking, What Japan did was wrong, of course, Japan did apolgize for it's actions numerous times, one even by the Emperor of Japan personally. I'm no expert on the realtions in Asia but I think Japan's feels bad for what happened, even if they try to downplay it... All nations do that during dark sides of their history, In Vietnam there was a battle where American Soliders went and killed every man, woman and child, raping the women. I highly doubt Americans are proud of that... Kinda like how they took in Nazi war criminals and hid them so they could work for the Americans. Kiba hit it right on the head, The reason why America is in deep shit is because they have the idea that they can do 'anything' which is illogical to think. Such thinking usually leads to trying to change the world, or save it from what they think is 'evil'. This leads to debt, weakening of the state and absoulte arrogance since they're the best and can do anything. WWII has effected the world to this day, in Hiroshima and Nagasaki babies are born with defects because of the Atomic Bomb going off. Wounds don't mend easily folks and they never will unless people finally begin to realize the others pain and the action of 'evil'. Because SOMETIMES, What we find as evil, may not be as evil as we thought in the first place. |

I'm gonna take this moment to say I studied The Battle of Okinawa for a History Project. I'll admit, Japan not owning up for it's crimes is bad... One crime? Military officers encouraging mass suicides among the Okinawan citizens. They would portray the Americans so that they seemed like they would lay siege to towns and murder and rape the townspeople. They also even passed out hand grenades to the citizens FOR suicide. Oddly enough, most Okinawan quotes I've read say they were surprised by how well the US Military treated them. I think they even said they treated them better than the Japan forces... Just throwing it out. |

Right then, I seem to have mistyped. There were no young children in AUSCHWITZ-- at least, none that survived past the first selection. That's why said book/movie ("The Boy in Striped Pyjamas") got such a big public outcry from the Jews. |
