That isn't the point, The girl was surprised about how cruel these camps were and likely there was some young childern killed in camps, Just because Auschwitz didn't have young childern doesn't change the fact that this occured in other camp. The movie was made to tell a story, not to tell a actual story of two childern befriending eachother even though they're seprated between a barrier of their different socities, It tells of what happened to all these people in a factual manner, The movie is sad true, but it shows what happened to these people.

Plus it's still a sad time in history, Whenever I think about it I'm in such disbelief. These people were killed because of hatred and nothing else, I honestly am at shock when I read Holocaust stories or Nanking Stories...

It's humanity at it's worse.

In no way am I saying what the Japanese did in WWII, or what anyone else did, is forgivable. I'm just curious to wonder if you think that it's just the Japanese that have done this to their P.O.W's. Because honestly, the U.S. has done is to; so have a lot of other countries. It's not right in anyway to do that to a human, but it's also not right to condemn one country for the same errors that many others have made.

There are no guarantees in love, just endless opportunities - for hurt and for happiness. I would rather touch him for one instant and be burned, then to live my life in the darkness beret his light.

I never said that I don't recognize that other countries have done it (hell, China's done it too), but I'm just ticked about this particular incident. Why? I dunno. Cause I am? D:

Why is probably why this isn't one of my trademark longass rants, and just a 'oh, meh, this is annoying' rants.

Japan was considered one of the worst when it came to P.O.W prisoners. The Japnease didn't know what to do with P.O.Ws since the nature of surrender was really something they didn't understand due to their culture. Japan set harsh conditions for these people on the Americans like SOME were forced to build railways and weren't feed or taken care of... Hell, They even took some Chinese women from their homeland of China to the islands in the Pacific so they could rape them whenever... I don't think Americans have ever done that people.

If you compared their P.O.W camps to say... Americas, You'd probably see America treating their P.O.Ws better compared to Japan.

I mean, look at today, A couple of Chinease Terrorist are living on a paradise island with pools and the like on the tax payers dime. That is some good P.O.W treatment if you ask me.

The book took place in Auschwitz (at least near it), but it depicts a pretty decent place with a lax sort of 'work if you feel like it' mentality. Granted, they couldn't have starved a kid to show what Shmuel would have looked like for the movie, but they sure didn't make it seem like such a bad thing outside of the ending (gassed) and the occasional smoke.

But yes, it IS a sad movie, I'm not saying the Holocaust wasn't a horrible thing (pretty much anything the Axis did during the time period was just plain crazy). I've got to say, "Night" has to be my favorite (weird to call it a favorite) survivor's account.

But that has nothing to do with this rant! So anyway.

Yeah, today's P.O.W. treatment of the... is it Uighers? They're doin' pretty dang great for themselves, if you ask me.

There we go! Thats what they were called, I was looking for the name of them XD.

Yeah, they got it really good down there. Apperently, Terrorism in America means you have to spend your time on a island with pools, plasma screens and ice cr and other mega expensive stuff hardworking Americans can't have in their houses... I'd be waterboarded anyday if I could live like that for the rest of my life.

Yeah, They do have it made though.

It's really hard to know what to do about prisoners, though.

Keep 'em in prison and bore 'em to death? Okayyyy, waste of taxpayers' money...

Punish 'em physically? Ouch, no, that's inhumane!

Kill 'em! Well, maybe for some people-- but then we still have to worry about the people that didn't commit massive murder.

Punish 'em mentally? Well, besides the mental punishment that is sitting in a prison cell for years, it'd fall under 'cruel and unusual'...

Put 'em on a private island with pools and ice cream? Well... errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Ahhh, well.
