I still RP...I just pick and choose my battles. If something doesn't catch my interest, then I don't RP in it. Simple as that. Besides, from what you've said, any ideas I have for any sort of RP would more than likely fall into the large list of cliche things we've done in the past, so why should I bother with it, hm? Plus, I don't think anyone would be interested in a sort of Mech RP, right? |

Now, Zoden, you know I don't post here due to college. XD Or else I would - I'm kinda getting out of the rather big writing slump I've been in since the start of college, seeing as a wrote a little something (granted, it was a scene from ToS, but it was something) yesterday. So, I may want to start some serious RP'ing again. Back to your rant. Most of the successful RP's came from one little fact (to me, at least), and it was: Myself/Volt/Joey expressed interest in it. If two or three of us joined, the chances of success were much, much higher. I'm not sure why, but look at most of those RP's - the ones with over 20 pages generally had either myself, Volt, and/or Joey in it. This isn't to make myself feel important - it's just what I've noticed. I could be bold and say that it's because us three are very well liked here, but that's probably not the case. Another thing is when we made an RP, we usually asked everyone else what they thought before posting it (I'm using Joey and Volt because I talked to them the most besides Amanda). Now, they made it anyway, but I think the reaction was to gauge how successful it'd be. Most of the time (because Volt, myself, and Joey generally made successful RP's), the reaction was generally positive. All I'm saying is, I think the success of an RP is attributed to a person's history as an RP'er. The subject does have a little to do with it, but not as much as you'd think. Sometimes, it was better to make a certain RP when lots of people were into it. Presentation is also big. Some people can present the same idea in a cool way and catch the eyes of people. Again, not as important as who made it. Open-ended RP's always fail in the end due to lack of a plot or a plot that comes in too late. And for original ideas: if you haven't planned out every little detail of the plot, setting, etc...in your original idea, it will fail. All of mine did except Amore, which I put a lot of time into and made complete before posting the RP. A lot of stuff goes into it, and sometimes the little things make a big dfference, but generally, it's a person's history and bias towards them. At least that's what I think. And Zoden's right about the Town RP's. If you guys want to go find a big community for Town RP'ing, I'd suggest looking around. |
