Okay, so I really wasn't going to post this, because I really really hate drama... especially when I'm the one causing it...but this is one of those times that I think my voice should be heard. First off, let me list the reasons why I don't like swearing. 1. It's mean. I'm pretty sure that 95% of the time, swearing is used to be mean. Mean about someone, mean about a ideas, mean about really anything. I honestly hate it when people are mean. There is no reason for someone to act that way, and quite frankly swearing brings out those kinds of actions. Tell me how many times you've heard people use the words 'bitch, shit, fuck, damn, hell' in a nice way? Probably very few times. I'm sure there are circumstances where they could be use nicely... I honestly can't think of any right now, but the point is, they're rude. 2. Swearing is Unintelligent Seriously. Swearing makes a person sound SO idiotic half of the time. Even when two people are fighting, a string of well thought out words and the use of WIT, will win over someone swearing any day. When someone is talking normally to another person and every other word that comes out of your mouth is 'shit', that person sounds like a moron. Swearing decreases your vocabulary so much because it's what you always fall back on. When you use it that much you honestly have nothing good to say, so you should just stop talking. 3. DISRESPECT This is why i have the biggest beef about swearing. It is totally disrespectful. People here find it offensive. Maybe you're not sure why, but people do. If you have someone you know who is a Hindu are you going to offer them a hamburger? No, because they believe it's not right, and you have the RESPECT to let them believe what they want. Sure, you may not get it and eat beef all the time yourself, but you have the decency to and RESPECT to what they believe. Now, I'm not saying that swearing is 100% bad! I know I've used swear words, and although some people here quite blatantly think I'm 'Little Miss Perfect' --I'm not. There are times that I think swearing is perfectly acceptable. There are times when it's hilarious. "Kick his ass, Seabass" wouldn't be nearly as funny in dumb and dumber if it was "Kick his butt, Seabass"... man, that sounds terrible. But what does really irk me, is when people don't have the common courtesy to respect my feelings about it! I've even said I will leave, but still, it's the rude and disrespectful attitude to what I think is bad. I'm fine with you thinking it's alright, but when I'm around, I'd rather not hear it. It was a simple request(or so I thought), and assumed people would at least have the decency and courtesy to respect my friendship enough to not be completely rude about it. Luckily, I do have people like Bobby and Volt that at least tried to stick up for me a little bit. Because they did that for me, my respect for them will reciprocate, and they're up on my charts as better friends for sure. Thanks guys. =] Like I said, I really am alright with people swearing, it's not like it's anything I haven't heard before. It's just the constant redundant use of it that I find obnoxious and distasteful. And again, I left, so don't worry about it anymore, it's really not that big of a deal. I just wanted to let you guys know why I don't like it and my feelings about it. ^^ Anyway! Have a grood day. I mean great... great and good. =] |

There shouldn't be any drama coming from this. Cutting swearing from your vocab is pretty ez mode. It's only really useful during trash talk or when you need that extra "Oomf!" when emphasizing something. And if it's comin' out before you think about what you're typing... get on that "think before you act/speak" status! LOL. Wish I had been on Skype, but Brawl and DnD. |

I was pretty bad at swearing as well. :C But when you requested us not swear, I cut it back. Heck, I even substituted my swear words for other words. Hence, that heck right there. When I type I ALWAYS (well, not always, but usually...sometimes...maybe) reread it to weed out the typos (which doesn't always work~) and change words if I chose the wrong word or typed the wrong word. But, I mean, when people throw things back in your face when you make a simple request...that's just downright disrespectful. |

I swear every now and then myself, but I'm going to agree. it's not the best thing to do in a conversation. you might give someone the wrong idea unintentionally in the worst case..and should that happen, it's not fun. |

If fate is a millstone, then we are the grist. There is nothing we can do. So I wish for strength. If I cannot protect them from the wheel, then give me a strong blade, and enough strength... to shatter fate.
