Changes to the Equinox Code

You may notice a new position up at the top: Secretary-General. Same kind of idea as Hadi's Chief Executive Officer, but has more defined responsibilities and is an internal decision from the executive rather than a 5th elected position. I feel that this is the correct direction for Equinox to go in, even if it is a little pro-bureaucracy.

Also, I have completely re-written the RDC. It has significantly more power now, but the same idea nonetheless.

Read the Equinox Code for details.

I think it's the former. I like it.

They elect anyone from the general citizenry.

I'll fix it to be a bit clearer -- it is elected from within the executive itself.

Sorry for the double post, it should've been clear already:

"Secretary-General: Following the election of all 4 executives, the executives will choose a leader called the Secretary-General that will serve as the appointed public face of the Executive. The Secretary-General is expected to report on the first day of every month (via the Equinox Monthly Telegram) what the executive has accomplished in the term thus far, what it plans to accomplish with the remainder of its term, and answer all questions on behalf of the executive. The Secretary-General is responsible for ensuring all executives are doing their job. The Secretary-General must have support of 2/3 of the other 3 executives. "

But just adding another statement to make it clear.

So, the Sec Gen will hold two positions? Not sure I agree with that.

Revenge Is Best Served Frosty.
Minor thing, but:

Quote:

To balance this power, the King has the authority to veto any decision by the Regional Disciplinary Committee, and the King also acts as the regional appeal board; all members of the forum have the right to appeal any decision by the RDC to the King.

You use the word "King" here. Does this mean we are effectively considering this a re-establishment of the Monarchy? I notice this is the first time you've used the word "King" in this way since you've returned. Previously you used the word "Founder".

Oops :P I'll change that.

@Joshua: The Secretary-General doesn't have any real "power" over anything though.

I realize that Falc, and it is a shame that the Sec Gen has no real power. I am not saying that the execs should be disqualified, but I think it would be wise to open it to the general citizenry as well.

I like it the way Falc made it. It's unique to the region, and is a compromise between the idea of no Executive Leader at all and a Chancellor-like position.

Joshua the reason I wanted it an exec-elected position is because I would prefer the face of the Executive to be someone who is involved with it already... a Chancellor-esque position is really useless in my view in NationStates because they generally do nothing yet are expected to take responsibility for everything. This alleviates this problem.
